Mitt Romney’s Statement on National Day of Prayer

Today is America’s National Day of Prayer

Governor Mitt Romney released the following statement:

“Today I join with people of all faiths to express devotion and gratitude to the Lord, who has so richly blessed us. On this National Day of Prayer, we are reminded of those who have sacrificed so much to give us the freedom to worship freely and to speak openly about our faith. As I travel across this country every day, I see God’s grace and faithfulness in the lives of so many Americans who share their stories. And it is my prayer that as we strive to better America and to protect her from those who would do her harm, the Lord will keep us strong and free and we will remain one nation under God.”

Romney’s Statement on First Anniversary of Bin Laden Death

On this first anniversary of the death of Osama bin Laden…

Governor Mitt Romney released the following statement:

“Today marks the one year anniversary of the mission that brought Osama bin Laden to justice. That mission was the culmination of nearly a decade of hard work and sacrifice by our men and women in the military and intelligence communities. I commend all those who planned and conducted the bin Laden raid, and I applaud President Obama for giving the go ahead for the mission. Let us never forget the thousands of innocents who perished on September 11, 2001, or the brave servicemen and women who have given their lives to defeat those who would do harm to our country. They, and their families, are forever in our thoughts and prayers.”

He is Risen! Happy Easter from the Mitt Romney Central Team

UPDATE - Mitt Romney issued the following Easter statement:

“As we take time off of the campaign trail to gather with family and friends this Easter weekend, we celebrate the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ and the hope which he brought to all of mankind. We are thankful for our brave men and women in uniform who are serving our country in the armed forces and are away from their families on this special day and we pray for their safe return home. And may the hope and promise which we celebrate at Easter remain with all of us throughout the year.”

O, grave… Where is thy victory?

He is risen!

In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week,
came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre.

And, behold, there was a great earthquake:
for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven,
and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it.

His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow:

And for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead men.

And the angel answered and said unto the women,
Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified.

He is not here: for he is risen, as he said.
Come, see the place where the Lord lay.

And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead;
and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you.

And they departed quickly from the sepulchre with fear and great joy;
and did run to bring his disciples word.

And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail.

And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him.

Wrapping up the Nomination: Jeb Bush Endorses Mitt Romney!

This breaking news just in from CNN:

Jeb Bush for Mitt!

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush endorsed GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney Wednesday. Bush released the following statement:

“Congratulations to Governor Mitt Romney on his win last night and to all the candidates for a hard fought, thoughtful debate and primary season. Primary elections have been held in thirty-four states, and now is the time for Republicans to unite behind Governor Romney and take our message of fiscal conservatism and job creation to all voters this fall. I am endorsing Mitt Romney for our Party’s nomination. We face huge challenges, and we need a leader who understands the economy, recognizes more government regulation is not the answer, believes in entrepreneurial capitalism and works to ensure that all Americans have the opportunity to succeed.”

Just minutes ago, Jeb Bush tweeted his support:

Chalk Up a WIN in Maine for Romney

Thousands of hard-working Mainers have spoken…

Mitt Romney wins the Maine caucuses!

Coming on top of Governor Romney’s straw poll win at CPAC, today’s Maine caucus poll win is especially sweet:

Romney - 2,190 votes - 39%
Paul - 1,996 votes - 36%
Santorum - 989 votes - 15%
Gingrich - 349 votes - 6%

It is estimated that Romney will receive six delegates, Paul will take five delegates, and Santorum will receive three delegates. Gingrich receives nothing. That would put the total delegate count at:

Romney - 121
Gingrich - 38
Santorum - 37
Paul - 25

UPDATE - Boston, MA – Romney issued the following statement on the results of the Maine caucuses:

I thank the voters of Maine for their support. I’m committed to turning around America. And I’m heartened to have the support of so many good people in this great state.

“We stand for conservative principles, liberty and prosperity. All of these are under threat. I’m in this race because I believe that America can be turned around, that we don’t have to accept unemployment over 8 percent, a national debt that is as large as our entire economy, and a President who, even as his own policies fail, apologizes for America’s past successes. We’ve had enough. It’s time to reverse Barack Obama’s legacy of domestic disarray and foreign-policy weakness.

“I congratulate my fellow Republicans on a campaign well fought. We may have our differences, but we’re united in our determination to bring Barack Obama’s reign of failure to an end. I am the only candidate in the race who has never served a day in our broken federal government. The voters of Maine have sent a clear message that it is past time to send an outsider to the White House, a conservative with a lifetime of experience in the private sector, who can uproot Washington’s culture of taxing and spending and borrowing and endless bureaucracy.”

Nevada Lt Gov Brian Krolicki Files Ballot Paperwork for Romney

October 17, 2021 - Standing in the bed of a pickup truck, NV Lt Gov Brian Krolicki, former MN Gov Tim Pawlenty (Natl Co-Chair for Romney), and former MA Gov Mitt Romney shared a light moment when Romney opened his campaign headquarters in Las Vegas, Nevada. Yesterday (11/17/11), Krolicki delivered Romney's presidential ballot paperwork to the NV Republican Party.

Mitt is officially good to go in the Silver State…

Boston, MA – Romney for President [has] filed the required paperwork necessary for Mitt Romney to participate in the Nevada Republican Caucus. Lieutenant Governor Brian Krolicki, Mitt Romney’s Nevada State Co-Chair, delivered the paperwork to the Nevada Republican Party.

Krolicki’s statement:

This next election is one of the most important in generations, and for Nevada the ramifications are profound and clear – our wounded state cannot continue to endure the current administration’s recklessly chosen path that has led to higher unemployment and falling incomes. Today’s filing is one small, but highly important, step as Mitt Romney’s team in Nevada works to help him bring positive change to our state and to the rest of the country. Only someone with Governor Romney’s deep understanding of the economy and job creation can reverse the failed policies of the last three years and begin to rejuvenate our country.”

Lt. Gov Krolicki, thanks for doing the honors!

Obama & Palestinian U.N. Membership Bid: Romney “Unmitigated Diplomatic Disaster”

As part of a middle east 'listening' tour last January, Governor Mitt Romney met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu (1/13/11). They discussed a series of issues, including advancing the peace process between Israel and the Palestinians. Yesterday, Romney issued a strong statement on the Palestinian Authority's expected bid for U.N. recognition.

The United Nations is gearing up to hold historic sessions this week…

Mahmoud Abbas, Palestinian Authority President, is launching a bid before the U.N. Security Council for state membership - which has caused a foreign relations uproar.

The Palestinian statehood issue is complicated, but I’ll try to keep it simple. In a nutshell, Barack Obama is in a pickle over the Palestinian bid to be recognized by the United Nations. A year ago, Obama addressed the U.N. and said that he envisioned a day within the next 12 months when a new Palestinian state could become a member of the United Nations:

BARACK OBAMA: When we come back here next year we can have an agreement that will lead to a new member of the United Nations - an independent, sovereign state of Palestine living in peace with Israel.

Many have not forgotten the President’s treatment of Israel (as evidenced in the recent election of a Republican to fill disgraced Anthony Weiner’s seat in New York District 9). Remember back in March when Obama gave the dinner snub to Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu? And, it was just in May of this year that Obama called for for pre-1967 borders for Israel - a condition that Israel can not accept.

May 20, 2022 - Netahyahu: 1967 Lines Are Indefensible, Can’t Negotiate With a Government Backed by Hamas

By petitioning the U.N. Security Council for membership, President Abbas is by-passing the peace process and negotiations with Israel. Now, Obama is reversing gears:

The current negotiations center around a Quartet statement of principles, which would lay out the terms of reference for peace negotiations with a one-year timeline for concluding a peace deal. In essence, it restates the ideas President Obama laid out in his May 19 speech on the Arab Spring.

For starters, Israel gets recognition as a Jewish state. The Palestinians get a state along 1967 borders with agreed-upon land swaps and a settlement freeze. Neither side will get everything it wants[…]

From A New Kind of Warfare at the U.N.:

The Palestinians will make the case that they are seeking to determine their future through democratic means. They will use democratic rhetoric, though they are not a democracy. And they will cast their opponents as booster of the supposed Israel occupation, though they have been responsible for years of terror upon the Israeli citizens.

Romney says aid to Palestinians should be threatened:

Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney this morning criticized President Obama for being unable to stem off a Palestinian bid for recognition before the United Nations, saying the president should threaten to withhold foreign aid and reconsider funding of UN programs if the Palestinian bid is successful.
Romney also says the United States should reevaluate its funding of UN programs, as well as its relationship with any nation that votes in favor of recognition.

“Actions that compromise the interests of the United States, our allies, and all those who desire a lasting peace must have consequences,” Romney said.
The Palestinian Authority is pushing for recognition of statehood this week at the United Nations. The US has vowed to veto any such bid in the body’s Security Council, but the Palestinians could still push for more limited recognition before the General Assembly.

Obama is also in New York today, and plans to meet later in the week with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Governor Romney released a statement yesterday on the Palestinian Authority’s expected request that the United Nations recognize a Palestinian state:

What we are watching unfold at the United Nations is an unmitigated diplomatic disaster. It is the culmination of President Obama’s repeated efforts over three years to throw Israel under the bus and undermine its negotiating position. That policy must stop now. In his speech to the U.N. this week, President Obama must unequivocally reaffirm the United States’ commitment to the security of Israel and its continued existence as a Jewish state. And he must make clear that if the Palestinian Authority succeeds in gaining any type of U.N. recognition, the United States will cut foreign assistance to the Palestinians, as well as re-evaluate its funding of U.N. programs and its relationship with any nation voting in favor of recognition. Actions that compromise the interests of the United States, our allies, and all those who desire a lasting peace must have consequences.”

ZERO Jobs: Romney “We Need to Change Presidents”

We expected the jobs report for August from the Bureau of Labor Statistics to be bad, but not THIS bad - zero jobs.

Plus, the numbers for June and July were revised downward.

Unemployment remains at 9.1 percent.

Mitt Romney issued a statement yesterday:

“Today’s disappointing unemployment report is further proof that President Obama has failed. President Obama oversaw an economy that created zero jobs last month and that is unacceptable. In order to change the direction of this country, we need to change presidents. Americans need a conservative businessman to get this economy moving again, not career politicians. That is why I am running. Next week, I will lay out my specific plan to put America back to work.” – Mitt Romney

Today’s jobs report shows continued weakness in the American economy:

The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported this morning that the American economy added zero jobs in August and unemployment remains at 9.1%. “Nonfarm payroll employment was unchanged (0) in August, and the unemployment rate held at 9.1 percent, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. Employment in most major industries changed little over the month.”

“Nonfarm employment for June and July was revised to show 58,000 fewer jobs.”
“Employment growth ground to a halt in August as sagging consumer confidence discouraged already skittish U.S. businesses from hiring…”

“Employment growth ground to a halt in August as sagging consumer confidence discouraged already skittish U.S. businesses from hiring…”

Recent economic news confirms that President Obama’s policies have been a dismal failure:

* The conference board’s consumer confidence index plunged in August to levels far below expectations. “Consumers’ confidence in August dropped almost 15 points to the lowest level since April 2009 as worries about the economy fueled the wildest stock market swings since the financial meltdown in 2008. … The Conference Board said Tuesday that its Consumer Confidence Index fell to 44.5, down from a revised 59.2 in July … [and was] far below the 53.3 that analysts had expected.”

ONE YEAR AGO, on Labor Day weekend, hundreds of unemployed Americans lined up for a job fair in El Monte, CA (outside of Los Angeles). (Photo Mark Ralston/AFP/Getty Images)

Unemployment lines continue to grow. Here’s video of one of the many scenarios taking place across America… Thousands Camp Out for Job Fair as Jobless Rate Rises (Atlanta, GA. Aug 18, 2021) Note: Many of the companies offering jobs at this particular fair were from government agencies who couldn’t take applications. After waiting in line all that time, attendees were directed to websites to apply on line. Unbelievable.

After a jobs report is released, President Obama usually makes it a point to cheerlead comment on the report the very next day. After the ZERO number was released yesterday, Obama said… nothing. He then promptly scurried off to Camp David.

The time has arrived for America to have a business/finance president - Mitt Romney.

Romney in NH: Press Asks About Obama, Rick Perry, Paul Ryan (VIDEO)

Obama's new $1.1 million monolithic 'Magical Misery Tour' bus has been called 'The Beast' and 'Rolling Blunder'. August 15, 2021 (click on image to enlarge)

After Governor Romney toured Isaacson Structural Steel in Berlin, New Hampshire this morning, he took a few questions from the press. He was asked about Obama’s upcoming jobs plan, a possible Paul Ryan presidential run, and Rick Perry’s statement on Monday about Ben Bernanke.

Perry’s comment:

Perry, who last weekend made official his intent to challenge President Obama, said in Iowa on Monday that if Bernanke came to Texas, “we would treat him pretty ugly.”
“If this guy prints more money between now and the election, I don’t know what y’all would do to him in Iowa,” Perry told supporters. “I mean, printing more money to play politics at this particular time in American history is almost treacherous – or treasonous, in my opinion.”

Romney at Isaacson Structural Steel in Berlin, NH today:

Romney spoke on Obama’s bus tour and his over-due jobs plan:

“The president yesterday spoke about what a mess he inherited from George Bush. My goodness, the American people are tired of hearing about what he inherited. They want to understand what he did with what he got. And, unfortunately what he did was make things worse – make it harder for the American people.

So, I’m glad he’s going to come up with some new ideas. Hopefully, he’ll listen to people who have actually worked in the private sector – who understand how the economy works – because he and his academic and political friends don’t understand what it takes to get this economy going again. And, it’s a little ‘too little – too late’.”

On Rick Perry:

Asked to address Perry’s description of the Fed chairman as “treasonous,” Romney didn’t take the bait: “I don’t have any new comments on the Fed with regard to Rick Perry’s comments as well. I’ve made some comments about the Fed in the past. I could refer you to those. But I’m not looking to be in a give-and-take with Gov. Perry. He’s expressing his views, I express my views and my record. He’s a fine guy, fine governor.”

Romney continued:

“We’ll get a chance to debate and we can probably have a good chance for contrasting views at that point[…]”

On Paul Ryan/others who may get in the race:

“It’s still a bit of an open field. That’s a good thing! Welcome folks in, the more the merrier. I welcome Governor Perry; if others want to get in, you know, terrific! The water’s fine.
