#comMITTed: Colorado Springs Mayor re Romney: “We were watching a president”

24 days until the election…

Readers, I hope every single one of you are comMITTed to doing everything humanly possible to ensure a victory on November 6th for Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan. Earlier this week, MRC launched a comMITTed final-days push to help shine the spotlight on what more can be done in swing states.

Here’s today’s news from The Centennial State, the great western state of COLORADO…

Colorado Springs Mayor Steve Bach wrote a guest column yesterday which was published in Colorado Springs’ The Gazette:

Romney is a study in leadership our country needs

With only a few weeks left until election day, voters are finally tuning in to the presidential election and taking the time to learn about the vision each candidate has for our nation’s future. It’s a big choice indeed, and nowhere has that choice been made clearer than in the recent debates — including the one that took place in Colorado last week.

Barack Obama and Mitt Romney both came into the night with something to prove. President Obama needed to explain why his policies have not succeeded in turning around the economy, and why the voters should believe that he can accomplish in the next four years what he hasn’t accomplished in the last four. Romney also had a challenge. The American people take removing a sitting president very seriously, and if Romney wants our votes, he had to present a concrete plan to end this seemingly endless economic downturn and get Americans back to work.

As it turns out, that night was a microcosm of everything that has been wrong with the Obama presidency. President Obama was inconsistent and unfocused. He was high on rhetoric and low on specifics. He had little in the way of plans, and little in the way of explanation for why his policies haven’t worked over the last four years. And time and time again, President Obama’s platitudes were empty and lacking in substance.

The President wants to create jobs. That’s terrific. But he didn’t provide a plan to lower Colorado Springs’ 9.5 percent unemployment rate besides more taxes and more government spending we can’t afford. Romney provided a very different take. If you want to help business, you need to reduce costs for those businesses. Mitt Romney has explained several ways he will do that. He will cut the cost of energy by opening up the incalculable resources we have here in America. We are in the midst of a natural gas revolution. Untapped oil resources are off our shores and waiting in Canada for the completion of the Keystone Pipeline. We need to explore those resources in an environmentally sound way that will produce millions of jobs and pump billions into our economy.

Governor Romney also told us how he will reduce burdensome regulations — including Obamacare — that add thousands upon thousands of dollars of costs on top of businesses, killing jobs and crushing growth. He’ll cut taxes on small businesses, allowing them to reinvest in their enterprises. He will put creating jobs for the American people first. That will be his priority. That will be his legacy.

In contrast, President Obama’s policies have slowed our economy’s recovery, and his reckless spending habits have saddled our children and grandchildren with another $5.5 trillion in debt. A second term will send our national debt soaring to $20 trillion. Meanwhile, the only part of the budget President Obama seems all too willing to cut has been funding for defense and for our military, threatening some 20,000 Colorado jobs.

There was a moment that night in Denver that was particularly telling. The candidates were given a question about their theory of the role of government. President Obama began, giving a rambling answer about government programs and the new spending he thought the country needed to get back on track.

Governor Romney turned and pointed to the words on the wall behind him. They were from the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. Then he talked about America. He talked about dreams and goals deferred in a nation that is thirsting for a real recovery, one that lets them pursue happiness in their own way. In that moment, we weren’t watching another politician or a bureaucrat.

We were watching a president.

Incredible Video: Joe Biden Interrupts Paul Ryan 85 Times During VP Debate

I’m so glad The Blaze took the time to piece together all the rude snippets of Joe Biden’s debate performance.

The guy was so out of line, it’s almost painful to watch. But if you have tolerance for that sort of thing, watch it below:

VP debate: Remember this… Biden Says “I Always Say What I Mean”

During last night’s VP debate, Joe Biden told us, “I always say what I mean.”

He always says what he means.

Remember that, America.

Okay! Take a look at the top 10 worst lies V.P. Joe tried to foist on Americans during the debate in Danville; click here.

Joe is on record saying plenty of memorable things; here are a few:

Aug 14, 2021 - Vice President Joe Biden tells a Virginia crowd, Romney’s plan would “put y’all back in chains.”

Aug 1, 2021 - As a follow up to Democratic Rep. Mike Doyle suggesting that dealing with Tea Party and fiscal conservatives was like negotiating with terrorists, Biden reportedly piled on by saying, “They have acted like terrorists.”

July 5, 2022 - In an interview with ABC’s “This Week,” Biden conceded that the White House team “misread how bad the economy was.” His confession came as unemployment hit 9.5 percent, despite the administration’s insistence that it would hold to 8 percent with the stimulus plan.

July 16, 2022 - Biden gave a blunt summation of the administration’s approach to stimulus spending: “People, when I say that, look at me and say, ‘What are you talking about, Joe? You’re telling me we have to go spend money to keep from going bankrupt?” he said at a stop in Virginia. “The answer is yes.”

July 16, 2022 - An open microphone caught Biden saying, “This is a big f—ing deal” to President Obama during a nationally televised Washington signing ceremony for the president’s health care law.

June 26, 2022 - Biden called the manager of a custard shop outside of Milwaukee a “smartass” after the man asked him to lower taxes. Biden made the comment after the Kopp’s Frozen Custard shop manager told him that his dessert would be on the house if he lowered taxes. “Why don’t you say something nice instead of being a smartass all the time?” Biden said a few minutes later.

“When the stock market crashed, Franklin D. Roosevelt got on the television and didn’t just talk about the, you know, the princes of greed. He said, ‘Look, here’s what happened.” –Joe Biden, apparently unaware that FDR wasn’t president when the stock market crashed in 1929 and that only experimental TV sets were in use at that time, interview with Katie Couric, Sept. 22, 2008 (source)

“You cannot go to a 7-11 or a Dunkin’ Donuts unless you have a slight Indian accent…. I’m not joking.” -Joe Biden, in a private remark to an Indian-American man caught on C-SPAN, June, 2006 (video)

“I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy. I mean, that’s a storybook, man.” –Joe Biden, referring to Barack Obama at the beginning of the 2008 Democratic primary campaign, Jan. 31, 2007 (source)

VP Debate: Biden’s Bad-Mannered Buffoonery Blows It, Ryan Resolute

Vice President Joe Buffoonery Biden proved once again at last night’s vice presidential debate in Danville, KY, what an embarrassment he is for the United States of America. (photographer unknown)

With his derisive laughter, zombie eye-rolling, feigned incredulity, exaggerated theatrical gestures, continual interruptions, and over-all condescension, Vice Presidential smirk monkey Joe Biden negated any gains he hoped to make at last night’s V.P. debate. Biden’s performance sealed the deal for him… as the simpleton from Scranton and America’s permanent political huckster. Debate moderator, ABC’s Martha Raddatz, failed to control all-show Joe and left many yearning for Jim Lehrer.

Although GOP Vice Presidential candidate 42-year-old Rep Paul Ryan is 27 years younger than 69-year-old Biden, he was resolute, reassuring, and ready to take on the smart-aleck. Ryan was clearly the adult seated at the debate desk in Danville.

Polls from CNBC and CNN revealed Ryan won.

Here’s just a sampling of Twitterverse take-aways (comments from FOX News contributors at end of article):

VP Debate: Our Challenges are Not Laughing Matters, Joe.

Americans face a very stark contrast in our choice for the future. Thankfully, we have competent and responsible leadership in Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan, for it is surely lacking in Barack Obama and Joe Biden. Tonight’s VP Debate as a follow on to last week’s Presidential Debate clearly supports the point; Paul Ryan is earnest, intelligent, knowledgeable, competent and respectful. Unfortunately, Joe Biden is not. Never before in modern history have we seen such disrespectful, irresponsible, and immature behavior in a Vice Presidential Debate. The problems we face today are not laughing matters!

Announcing MRC’s New Campaign: I’m comMITTed!

committed to romney badge

When we launched MittRomneyCentral.com a little over three years ago we had just one purpose in mind: help Mitt Romney become elected President of the United States. In order to achieve that goal, we have worked hard to build our audience by providing an attractive website, informative daily updates, cutting-edge SEO, and outreach into the social media platforms. We continue to have great success and daily growth on Twitter (26K followers) and Facebook (76K likes). Each day we have several thousand return visitors to our website - some of the most engaged, informed and supportive fans of the Romney-Ryan team.

Building an audience is key to reaching our goal - but followers, fans, Facebook likes, and daily visitors are NOT the measuring sticks by which we will gauge our success. Our end purpose is not to entertain insatiable minds with news and commentary.

The purpose of MittRomneyCentral.com is to spur engaged readers into engaged volunteers.

It is an unfortunate reality that so many who are concerned with politics never do anything more than wring their hands with nervous hope that the things that matter will take care of themselves. They won’t, unless we act.

My hope is that YOU, the reader, will:

  1. Contemplate your ability to contribute time and/or money
  2. Have the willingness to act accordingly
  3. Act now!

The time to delay and procrastinate has passed! No more cheering from the sidelines. No more excuses… It is time to get comMITTed!

ComMITTed to putting this country on a course of financial stability!
ComMITTed to handing our posterity a country not burdened with crushing debt!
ComMITTed to fighting the ills of liberalism, starting with firing Barack Obama!

Romney’s New Ad ‘Melanie’: She Believed Obama’s Promises. Got PRANKED.

Back in 2008, when then-Senator Barack Obama and all his charismatic aura swept onto the national stage as a candidate for President of the United States, he promised a lot of things. Among them, he loudly, proudly, proclaimed he’d bring the USA back to prosperity. Melanie McNamara believed in him. He convinced her. Like many, she voted for him. Three and a half years later, Obama has UNconvinced her.

Obama’s proclamations were prattle.

Melanie McNamara got PRANKED.

Now, Melanie wants to MAKE SURE America’s economy is growing again.

Melanie is voting for Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan.

Today, Romney for President released a new television advertisement titled “Melanie.”

“In 2008, I voted for Barack Obama. He doesn’t have my vote this time.

Why Mitt Romney? Being a woman, you think about your children and you think about their future. And what I want to think about is a future that has jobs. That our economy’s growing again. That’s important to women and it’s important to me.” - Melanie McNamara

The nearly incomprehensible national debt, over SIXTEEN TRILLION DOLLARS and racing, is a HUGE issue for women. Women are appalled that the back-breaking, crippling, immoral national debt will fall upon the young shoulders of the ones they sacrifice so much for - their children. The next generation will absolutely be clobbered with the crushing responsibility to repay the massive dollars borrowed and squandered by crony-concerned, devil-may-care, back-slapping, unaccountable politicians on Capitol Hill. Obama is chief among them. He’s recklessly added more debt than the first 41 presidents combined.

Let’s take a stroll down memory lane…

Back in 2008, when Obama was finagling for the presidency, he ecstatically pinned the ‘unpatriotic, irresponsible’ label on President George W. Bush for his enlargement of the national debt:

“The problem is, is that the way Bush has done it over the last eight years is to take out a credit card from the Bank of China in the name of our children, driving up our national debt from $5 trillion for the first 42 presidents – #43 added $4 trillion by his lonesome, so that we now have over $9 trillion of debt that we are going to have to pay back — $30,000 for every man, woman and child. That’s irresponsible. It’s unpatriotic. - Barack Obama, July 3, 2022

Once ensconced in the Oval Office, Obama put on his heretofore unknown amnesia hat; you know, the one that conveniently makes him forget his promises and do the complete opposite of what he pledged. He couldn’t wait to get his redistributive hands on Uncle Sam’s credit card. Obama couldn’t spend (and waste) fast enough – roughly $6 trillion in 3.5 years.

Townhall’s Guy Benson adds: Romney Ad - Newborn Infants Now Owe $50,000 Toward National Debt:

[E]very “man, woman and child” now owes over $51,000. Obama’s unanimously-rejected budget would explodes that debt by $11 trillion …(more!) over the next decade. So much for his promises to thoroughly examine federal spending “line by line” to achieve a “net spending cut” while slicing the deficit in half by now. It’s almost as if he just says whatever he thinks will help get him elected, then does whatever he pleases once in office. This must stop. Mitt Romney’s new television ad, entitled “Dear Daughter,” makes the issue of inter-generational theft and reckless government spending very personal:

And, what have Obama’s policies done for women? Another ad from Team Romney/Ryan:

Obama’s policies are making it harder on women.

The poverty rate for women is the highest it has been in 17 years.

Over 5.5 million women are unemployed and their individual share of debt is over $50,000.

Fellow Americans, if you truly care about your children’s future, you must reject Barack Obama and Joe Biden. It’s okay to let them go. Don’t let them continue to steal the future from America’s children. You must vote for the two men who know how to get our economy going again, with rising salaries, and who will work with all their might to lower, not increase, our national debt.
