Obama Foreign Policy: Seriously Sub-Optimal

Pictures of Barack Obama bowing courtesy of today’s Drudge Report.

Overview.

I’m not going to hammer on the president for his choice of words on Jon Stewart. I’m not a fan of the Dems’ insulting attempts at faux outrage over things like “binders” so I’ll not do anything but quote our president. But we can safely say, as President Obama did, when Americans die our president’s foreign policy is obviously “not optimal.” And when you look back at the past four years, really, we can’t say what’s happened are mere “bumps in the road,” either, but the result of having chosen the wrong road altogether. Today in the New York Post Amir Taheri put it more succinctly: the president’s foreign policy has “failed.”

So before tonight’s debate about foreign policy, let’s remind ourselves just how sub-optimal this president’s foreign policy has been, and how bumpy the road was. People may criticize Mitt for not having foreign policy experience, but Obama only has four more years than Mitt has, having had none when he started on the job training. The question is whether Barack Obama learned anything during that time, and perhaps the biggest indictment contained in the mess in Libya is that his record indicates he hasn’t learned what he needs to, and is willing to close his eyes to the obvious in favor of a narrative that supports, if tenuously, his world view. Meanwhile I’m sure someone else with a different philosophy, like peace through American strength, would do a lot better.

His One Argument: bin Laden

Let’s start by giving the president partial credit for his one “achievement.” In a true team effort, American intelligence, after years of searching that culminated during the Obama administration, was able to find Osama bin Laden. The president then sent a team of experts into Pakistan to kill him. Still, a number of things still trouble me about this “success.”

First, the president’s beaming over the mission and “spiking the football.” While it’s a comforting thought bin Laden is no longer a threat, call me old fashioned but it does not seem appropriate to throw a party when anyone is killed, even if a confessed terrorist and murderer. The appropriate attitude seems to be one of quiet gratitude, and confidence we were able to accomplish what we needed to protect American citizens from harm. But not elation.

Second, the president’s taking personal credit for the achievement. What happened was a success due to years of work starting in the Bush administration and involving hundreds if not thousands of people from intelligence gatherers to planners of the raid to those who actually executed it. Let’s not forget the president watched it on TV, and was not on the ground personally in Pakistan. He deserves credit as the person at the head of the team, but to the extent he deserves that credit, he deserves as much blame for what went wrong in Libya. And gracious leaders give credit where due. I agree he should be congratulated for making the decision to move forward. He took a risk and it paid off. But I disagree with President Clinton’s assessment that this decision took any special fortitude. I believe Mitt’s right that any president would have made the same decision. So Obama’s credit is for being in the seat at the head of table when the team succeeded, and for calling for the two-point conversion to win the game. He succeeded, and gets the credit for that strategic decision. But it was the team on the field, not him that deserves any glory, and an end-zone dance seems particularly inappropriate.

Third, in his desire to take personal credit, the president shared sensitive intelligence information. He volunteered the identity of the team that carried it out, putting them and their families in danger. And this was one of many leaks, coming per Dianne Feinstein directly out of the White House, of sensitive US information. The president seems willing to compromise security when it suits his political purposes, which I find difficult to condone.

Finally, and perhaps most importantly, the success of this one mission does not mean Al Qaeda is really “on the run,” as has been claimed by the Dems. They’re still in Afghanistan and now are in Libya. And whatever the president’s policy in this regard, despite bin Laden’s removal, the date of Al Qaeda’s last successful terrorist attack is no longer 9/11/01. It’s 9/11/12.

Now, to more problematic issues: world hot spots

1. Libya. Four Americans are killed in Libya despite pleas for additional security. Reports out of the State Department, the intelligence community and the White House contradict who knew what when. Immediately after the attack the president made a generically deniable statement about not letting terrorism deter us, but spent the next two weeks allowing the American people to believe it’s somehow the fault of our freedom of speech and an obscure YouTube video, using rhetoric that could suggest we somehow deserve what happened. Why? Again President Obama and the Democrats insisted on “spiking the football” over Osama bin Laden’s death at their convention, such that it’s an inconvenient truth that Al Qaeda is not really “on the run,” especially in Libya where the president is trying to take credit for “leading from behind.” Contrary to his assertions, Libya is not a model for American foreign policy success as it is now the site of the first assassination of an ambassador in 30 years.

Michigan, are you listening? Debunking Obama’s Bankruptcy Spin on Auto Bailouts

Obama’s auto bailout ‘success’ is a disaster for taxpayers.

Like a toddler who likes to continually jabber a new phrase, Obama keeps blabbering “Romney said let Detroit go bankrupt! Romney said let Detroit go bankrupt!”

Here’s what our prattling President doesn’t want Americans to know:

Deceitful, smoke-‘n-mirrors Obama ADOPTED Mitt Romney’s idea of a managed bankruptcy for American car makers. BUT, Obama’s mishandling of the process has proven very costly.

Romney Press - Oct 16, 2012:

Mitt Romney Will Help Our Auto Industry Become Stronger And More Competitive

As a Michigan native and the son of a car guy, Mitt Romney has always believed that a strong auto industry is an essential component of the nation’s economy. He has a plan that will help the auto industry move forward into a new era of innovation and dominance.

  • Domestic Energy Production That Aids Manufacturing: We are on the cusp of a manufacturing renaissance in the United States, and it will be made possible by an abundant supply of cheap, reliable energy within our borders. Mitt Romney will have a true all-of-the-above strategy that includes coal, natural gas, oil and other resources.

  • Trade That Works For Our Auto Industry: Our workers make the best cars in the world. We must develop markets abroad where our cars can be sold. Mitt Romney will open new markets to American automakers far more aggressively than this President has.
  • Stand Up To China And Level The Playing Field: Mitt Romney will stand up to countries like China that don’t play by the rules. Starting on day one, Mitt Romney will make clear to China that they must respect the intellectual property of American manufacturers and open their markets to American products.
  • Lower Our Corporate Tax Rate To Boost Competitiveness: Mitt Romney will reduce the corporate tax rate, so that our carmakers can compete on a level playing field both at home and around the world, and can afford to invest more in breakthrough products. He will also stop the foolish practice of imposing an extra tax on our automakers when they sell cars overseas so they can reinvest the profits here at home.
  • Get Government Out Of The Car Business: President Obama has told Detroit what kind of cars to build, implemented extraordinarily onerous regulations that will drive up the cost of each car by thousands of dollars, and to this day owns more than one quarter of General Motors. Mitt Romney will get the federal government out of the auto industry and eliminate regulations that distort the market and drive up costs.
  • A Reminder – Mitt Romney supported a managed bankruptcy process for our automakers, which is what President Obama ultimately agreed to support:

Months After Taking Office, President Obama Finally Arrived At The Conclusion That Managed Bankruptcy Was Preferable To His Initial Strategy. “The Obama’s administration’s leading plan to fix General Motors Corp. and Chrysler LLC would use bankruptcy filings to purge the ailing companies of their biggest problems, including bondholder debt and retiree health-care costs, according to people familiar with the matter. … President Barack Obama’s task force has told both companies that the administration prefers this route … rather than the prolonged out-of-court process that has thus far frustrated administration officials.” (The Wall Street Journal, 3/30/09)

The Obama Administration Ultimately Found Bankruptcy To Be The Only Way Forward. “The administration says a ‘surgical’ structured bankruptcy may be the only way forward for GM and Chrysler, and President Obama held out that prospect Monday. ‘I know that when people even hear the word ‘bankruptcy,’ it can be a bit unsettling, so let me explain what I mean,’ he said.” (The Wall Street Journal, 3/30/09)

What did Governor Romney NOT support? Labor Union handouts, giving American companies to foreign owners, ill-considered dealership closings, and keeping government in the car business:

President Obama’s Handling Of The Bailout Gave The United Auto Workers Union A Majority Ownership Stake In Chrysler. “The Obama administration’s decision to bail out Chrysler gave the union trust what was initially a majority ownership position of 55 percent of its shares.” (Reuters, 6/3/11)

The Obama Administration Handed Over Control Of Chrysler To Fiat, An Italian Automaker. “Chrysler LLC, for years America’s third-biggest automaker, survived perhaps the most dire of its periodic near-death experiences in 2008 and 2009, when the federal government forced it into bankruptcy, pumped in $10 billion in taxpayer funds and put it under the control of the Italian automaker Fiat, with the auto workers union as the company’s biggest shareholder.” ((The New York Times, 7/30/12)

President Obama’s Auto Task Force Pressed GM And Chrysler To “Close Scores Of Dealerships Without Adequately Considering The Jobs That Would Be Lost.” “President Obama’s auto task force pressed General Motors and Chrysler to close scores of dealerships without adequately considering the jobs that would be lost or having a firm idea of the cost savings that would be achieved, an audit of the process has concluded.” The New York Times, 7/18/10)

The Obama Administration “Contributed To The Accelerated Shuttering Of Thousands Of Small Businesses” And Potentially Added “Tens Of Thousands Of Workers” To The Unemployment Lines. (CNN Money, 7/19/10)

General Motors Now Wants The Government To Sell Its Stake In The Company, But The Obama Administration Is Resisting. “The Treasury Department is resisting a push by General Motors Co. to sell the government’s entire stake in the auto maker – the latest source of tension between two unlikely partners thrust together at the depths of the financial crisis. U.S. taxpayers kept the nation’s largest auto maker by sales afloat with a $50 billion bailout in 2009 and now own 26.5% of the Detroit company. But GM executives have grown increasingly frustrated with that ownership and the stigma of being known as ‘Government Motors.’” (The Wall Street Journal, 9/17/12)

Taxpayers Are Taxpayers Are Currently Projected To Lose More Than $25 Billion On The Bailouts Of Auto Industry. (U.S. Treasury Department, 8/12)

    Now, you have the truth.

Michiganders, help Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan obtain your 16 electoral votes. CAll NOW to get started. Readers, you, too, can help.

Candy’s Sugar-Coated Bias: Interrupts Romney 28 Times At Debate, Obama Just 9

    Photo - Win McNamee/Getty

    More on Candy’s handy-dandy preference for Obama…

William Bigelow from Breitbart reveals more facts about debate moderator Candy Crowley’s thinly-veiled preference for Barack Obama at last night’s presidential debate in Hempstead, New York:

CROWLEY INTERRUPTS ROMNEY 28 TIMES, OBAMA JUST 9

Candy Crowley, who was suspected of being one more liberal moderator in the tank for Barack Obama, was more than just in the tank for him; she dove in and sucked all the water out for him so he could pretend he walked on water.

In the first presidential debate, Jim Lehrer, no slouch at shilling for the Democratic Party, interrupted Mitt Romney 15 times and Barack Obama only five.

Crowley made Lehrer look like an amateur. She interrupted Obama nine times, (although four of those were when he wouldn’t respect the time limit when discussing assault weapons; he went over his time limit all night long), but when it came to Mitt Romney, she was utterly beyond the pale.

Crowley interrupted Romney 28 times. 28 times. Her desperation to keep Romney from scoring points was so patently obvious that it wasn’t really a surprise when she had her infamous moment: the moment when she interrupted and falsely claimed Romney was incorrect in accusing Obama of refusing to call the Benghazi attack an act of terror.

Bigelow then outlines specific instances, beyond the interruptions, where Crowley’s “obvious partisanship prompted her to treat Romney with great disrespect.” He includes Obama’s lie about the auto industry, gas prices being the new normal, Crowley’s ‘terror- Libya’ interruption, Romney’s statistics, OBAMA’S PENSION INVESTING IN CHINA, ‘fast and furious’ and more. She was the third debater at the debate.

    Bigelow concludes:

The fact that Obama escaped all night long by lie after lie didn’t seem to disturb Crowley in the slightest. She had her shadowy agenda, and she stuck to it fiercely. Now it is our job to throw her out into the sun where every American can see exactly how dirty she is.

DO read the entire article here.

Keep in mind Crowley also gave Obama a full 3 minutes and 14 seconds more speaking time than Romney. That’s huge.

Candy sugar-coated the debate for Obama.

Best Friends Forever! Socialist Despot Hugo Chavez: I’d vote for Obama & Vice Versa

Yesterday, Venezuela’s dictatorial oppressor, Hugo Chavez, declared his best-friend-forever status with Barack Obama. (In July, Chavez, endorsed Barack Obama for another four years in the White House; yesterday made it a double ‘thumbs-up’ for Obama.):

With both presidents facing tight re-election fights, Venezuela’s Hugo Chavez gave a surprise endorsement to Barack Obama on Sunday - and said the U.S. leader no doubt felt the same. “I hope this doesn’t harm Obama, but if I was from the United States, I’d vote for Obama,” the socialist Chavez said of a man he first reached out to in 2009… Chavez is running for a new six-year term against opposition challenger Henrique Capriles, while Obama seeks re-election in November against Republican candidate Mitt Romney. Venezuela’s election is next weekend. “Obama is a good guy … I think that if Obama was from Barlovento or some Caracas neighborhood, he’d vote for Chavez,” the president told state TV, referring to a poor coastal town known for the African roots of its population.

Regarding Hugo’s campaign race next weekend between himself and Henrique Capriles… surprise! Hugo is projecting victories for himself and Obama; plus, he likes the way Obama talks about the El Comandante administration:

But Chavez was back in a conciliatory mood in a TV interview with friend and former vice president Jose Vicente Rangel.

“After our triumph and the supposed, probable triumph of President Obama, with the extreme right defeated here and there, I hope we could start a new period of normal relations with the United States,” he said.

Obama recently said something very rational and fair … that Venezuela is no threat to the interests of the United States,” he added.

Obama’s thinking that Venezuela isn’t a threat to the interests of America sounds like a bit of wishful thinking with a quart of whitewash thrown in - kind of like his earlier statements when he said “the private sector is doing just fine” and the economy can be fixed if people “buy thingamajigs“. Chavez is thick-as-thieves with Ahmadinejad; in recent years, he’s met with the Iranian President at least nine times in Iran and Ahmadinejad has courted Chavez on or around his home turf at least six times. Chavez prides himself for thinking he’s at the head of a world-wide anti-imperialist effort (inspired by and in cahoots with mentor Fidel Castro). Ahmadinejad has called Chavez “a great revolutionary that is resisting against imperialism by defending the rights of his people, Latin America and the peoples of the world.”

Jan 9, 2022 - Bosom buddy oppressors Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, right, and his Iranian counterpart Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, joke together at Miraflores presidential palace in Caracas, Venezuela. (PHOTO – Juan Barreto/AFP/Getty)

Chavez has said he’ll stand by Ahmadinejad “under any circumstances” - that pursuing ties with Iran is a “holy matter” for Venezuela.

Ahmadinejad, in turn, has thanked Chavez for his “brotherly stance” in backing Iran in the face of international sanctions.

Venezuela is making unmanned aerial vehicles, commonly known as drones, with the help of Iran, Chavez said June 13 [2012] on national television.

The two countries in 2007 also established in Caracas the Banco Internacional de Desarrollo, which together with its main Iranian shareholder, Bank Saderat, is accused by the U.S. of being a vehicle for the Ahmadinejad government’s funding of Middle Eastern terrorist group Hezbollah.

According to Bloomberg’s Charlie Devereux, a bigger concern for our national security is what Chavez and Ahmadinejad are cooking up – which could include possible plans to use Venezuela as a launch pad for attacks against America if diplomatic relations with Iran continue to sour.

    Townhall’s Guy Benson:

And what about Obama’s “very rational and fair” assessment of Venezuela’s position on the world stage? The notion that Caracas poses no “serious” threat to US interest might come as news to some:

Where are the Trends? Who has the Advantage?

It resonates that truth is reason! The current trends and facts seem to contradict the mainstream media. Hugh Hewitt addresses in his lastest blog (see below), as does Rasmussen in his latest daily tracking poll.

    Monday, September 17, 2021
The Threats Are Growing. The Economy Isn’t: Romney 2
Posted by: Hugh Hewitt at 10:07 AM

Rasmussen’s daily edged up 1 for Romney, for a 2 point overall lead among likely voters, and as Jay Cost notes, the real news avalanche is decisively against the president.

The threat of Islamist terror is growing. The threat from Iran is growing. The threat of increasing joblessness is growing. The threat to the dollar is growing. China and Russia - more growing threats. Now there is rioting in Indonesia.

And the media obsess on inside-the-campaign-baseball whether it is alleged drama about the Romney campaign’s Stuart Stevens or the president’s Svengali Valerie Jarrett.

Only in the increasingly bizarre world of Manhattan-Beltway elite media is the tale of two speeches at the GOP convention big news as the Middle East slides towards war in no small measure brought about by American weakness. (Here is the short form, btw: Romney advisor Stevens ordered up a speech from very smart guy Pete Wehner. Romney, per usual, decided to write his own, demonstrating again a seriousness that POTUS does not have as well as a talent that totally eludes the president.)

The polls have already turned in the wake of the atrocity and disasters last week. MSM remains a good ten days behind any real news curve, but the voters are not behind that curve. That’s the story: A failing, flailing president whose designated spokesperson for the weekend had to declare “We are not impotent.”

Joe ‘Chains-Blunder’ Biden / Does Stephanie Cutter Really Want to Go ‘THERE’?

UPDATE: Jesse Jackson’s daughter, FOX News contributor Santita Jackson, said that Biden’s remarks were “profoundly insulting” and he should apologize. Former Democrat Governor of Virginia Douglas Wilder (first African-America governor since reconstruction) also blasted the Vice President (see end of article).

Our Vice President - Joe Biden.
    (Photo - Carolyn Kaster/AP)

While campaigning in Danville, Virginia on Aug 14, 2012, the Vice President of the United States, Joe Biden, rode in on his verbal backhoe to further dig himself and Obama into their seemingly bottomless hole. Watch the video (nearly half of Danville is populated by African Americans):

Later that same day, MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell got Stephanie Cutter (Obama’s Deputy Senior Adviser) to sit down with her to talk about ol’ Joe’s mouth and Mitt Romney’s denunciation of Biden’s statement. She squirmed and obfuscated:

Mitchell: “… [L]et’s get back to the question of when you said the president agrees with the sentiments, are you saying that the vice president went too far –“

    Cutter: “No, I’m not”.

Mitchell: “-and that the president does not agree with the words that he used?”

Cutter: “If you look at the entire context of what the Vice President was talking about, he was making a point that if we repeal Wall Street reform which is what Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan want to do, we’re going to go back to the days where they’re writing their own rules, and we saw what happened. Taxpayers had to bail them out. We had to spend billions of dollars of taxpayer dollars bailing them out. Now I would think that that, you know, that is a problem for middle class taxpayers. That would hamper their ability to take care of their own finances.”

MITCHELL: “The bottom line that the President agrees with Joe Biden’s sentiments but not his comments?”

CUTTER: “The bottom line is that we have no problem with those comments.”

Governor Romney doesn’t want to “let Wall Street write their own rules” but Team Obama believes if they hamster-wheel this lie over and over, like all the other lies they spout, Americans will believe it.

Does “Romney-is-a-felon” Cutter really want to go there - talking about taxpayer bailouts?

Hmm. Let’s talk about GM - headed for bankruptcy again? Or, how about that $535 million of vanished taxpayer money Obama showered on Solyndra?

Have you heard about A123 Systems?

It’s a green company based in Waltham, MA, that makes hybrid/electric car batteries. In 2009, A123 was handed a quarter BILLION grant by Obama. The company also received another $135 million in grants and tax breaks from Michigan. A123 also sucked up another $30 federal million for a wind energy whim. Their stock peaked at $25.77 per share. It’s now at 45 CENTS per share. In July, company officials said they only had five months of operating cash. Get this: A Chinese auto parts maker, Wanxiang Group, is investing up to $465 million in the broke company - buying A123 (owning 80% of the firm) for pennies on our dollars. Obama used OUR money to bankroll green technology which has ended up in CHINA’s hands.

Other Obama green energy companies receiving taxpayer money who have stuck it to us: Tesla - $465 million, Fiskar Automotive - $529 million, Ener1 - $118.5 million, Beacon Power - $43 million, Abound Solar - $400 million, Amonix Solar - $15.4 million DOE grant plus another $9.5 million in federal tax credits, Energy Conversion Devices & United Solar Ovonic LLC - $13.3 million tax credit, Evergreen Solar - $125 million plus $58 million from Massachusetts, Mountain Plaza, Inc. - $424,000, Spectrawatt - $500,000, Azure Dynamics – couldn’t find exact amount, but MILLIONS lost, and Solar Trust of America - $2.1 billion.

Troubled green companies for which taxpayers could be on the hook:
    Ecotality
    BrightSource Energy
    Cogentrix Energy

A few other companies receiving Obama stimulus money or tax breaks:
    Babcock & Brown,
    Granite Reliable Power
    Johnson Controls
    NextEra Energy
    Nissan
    NRG Solar
    Olsen’s Crop Service
    Range Fuels
    Schneider Electric
    Thompson River Power LLC
    Willard & Kelsey Solar Group

What about all those “shovel ready” jobs Obama touted to help push through his stimulus bill? Well, the shovels weren’t ready.

The half of America that actually pays taxes are on the hook for Obama’s $787 BILLION Recovery Act Bill – better known as the Stimulus Stinker DUD. He did that to us. And don’t forget, in January 2011, Obama whined and pouted for another $447 BILLION – which, thankfully, he didn’t get.

    But, I digress…

Back to ol’ Joe. American Crossroads Super PAC reminded us today why Biden is good for the Romney/Ryan ticket:

    Run, Joe. Run

It’s been a bad week for Team Obama.

BOOM! Romney Refutes Obama’s LITANY of LIES (Felon?!) New Ad

    New lows from Obama…

Deceptions once lobbed through Obama’s presidential peashooter are now coming fast and furiously through misinformation missiles – aimed at Mitt Romney.

Remember Obama’s Scheme Team memo last summer to kill Mitt Romney? They weren’t kidding. Here are the latest character assassination slams from Obama’s lie launchers…

Slam! Today we’re hearing from Nancy Pelosi and liberal talking heads that Governor Romney engaged in race baiting yesterday while speaking to the NAACP. (The avalanche of positive reviews for that speech has obviously rattled them.)

Slam! Now Romney could be a criminal. Yes, we could be supporting a felon! (*eye-roll*) From lie-launcher Stephanie Cutter (Obama Deputy Campaign Manager):

In a conference call with reporters this morning, the Obama campaign focused on this morning’s Boston Globe story arguing that Mitt Romney remained at Bain through 2002. The Romney campaign has called the story “not accurate.”

“Either Mitt Romney, through his own words and his own signature, was misrepresenting his position at Bain to the SEC, which is a felony, or he was misrepresenting his position at Bain to the American people to avoid responsibility for some of the consequences of his investment,” Obama deputy campaign manager Stephanie Cutter asserted.

“If he was lying to the American people,” she added. “then that’s a real character and trust issue that the American people need to take very seriously.”

“If he’s legally responsible for everything that happened inside those Bain deals, seems to me that he’s also politically responsible for the consequences of those deals in terms of people losing their jobs, losing their pensions and their health care, and American jobs being shipped overseas,” she said.

Slam! Cutter also reiterated the too-stupid-for-words claim that Governor Romney is the most secretive presidential candidate since Richard Nixon. Another attempt to define The Gov by invoking a name attached with great scandal… Yes, the Obama lie launchers have obviously memorized the Alinsky playbook.

Slam! In pre-emptive worminess to negate positive press coming Romney’s way from his attendance at the summer Olympics in London in a couple of weeks, Cutter tried to get some bang with this one:

Cutter also took a swipe at his work related to the 2002 Olympics, commenting that Romney’s Olympic record was “less than wholesome, shall we say, in terms of the decisions that were made there, the contracts that were signed, and the basic operation of how Mitt Romney ran the Olympics.”

Slam! Obama’s lie-launchers are not giving up on the Romney is an outsourcer meme, either.

Yes, Ms. Cutter. LYING is a real character and trust issue the American people need to take very seriously. The fact that you and your boss are deceiving America IS BEING TAKEN VERY SERIOUSLY. So, stand back liars! Romney and team are firing back with explosions of TRUTH…

    BOOM!

In a conference call Monday morning, senior staff said Romney’s surrogates would stop shying away from the word “lie” in responding to Democrats’ attacks on his business record, and plan to go on TV to call Obama a “liar,” the source said.

They are very fed up with these attacks,” said the source.

To spread the message, the source said, the campaign is going to start circulating a document to press that compiles “presidential falsehoods and exaggerations.”

    BOOM!

Misleading, unfair, and untrue… Romney For President today released a new ad titled ‘No Evidence’:

    BOOM!

    BOOM!

Two days ago Team Romney shared this: The Truth Hurts.

    BOOM!

The Romney press shop today released ANOTHER DAY, ANOTHER OBAMA CAMPAIGN FALSEHOOD:

“The Obama campaign must think Mitt Romney is Superman. He was, in reality, rescuing the Olympics by working in Utah 24/7 for the years the Obama campaign also alleges he was running Bain Capital. Even though the Obama campaign may be wrong about his involvement in Bain Capital, it shows that even they can admit Mitt Romney is a great leader.”Former Governor John Sununu

Today, The Obama Campaign Launched Even More False Attacks On Governor Romney’s Business Career:

Today, The Obama Campaign Falsely Alleged That Governor Romney Was Managing Bain Capital After February 1999. “The Obama campaign said a Boston Globe report Thursday proves Mitt Romney hasn’t been truthful about when he left Bain Capital. The Globe story cites SEC filings to prove Romney stayed on as head of Bain Capital after 1999.” (Pema Levy, “Obama Camp: Romney ‘Wasn’t Telling The Truth’,” Talking Points Memo, 7/12/12)

Multiple Non-Partisan Fact Checkers Have Already Confirmed Mitt Romney Left Bain Capital When He Actually Did – In February 1999:

Mitt Romney’s WSJ Op-Ed on China — HE WILL: Stop Cheating / Take Counteraction / Not Tolerate Surrender / Will Never Flinch

Governor Romney wrote an Op-Ed for The Wall Street Journal yesterday that clearly shows how tough he would be to reverse Obama’s incompetence and appeasement relative to China relations. Though it may not be clear to Mr. Obama and those who surround him, it is obvious to the world that Obama is out of his league when it comes to negotiating. He swore he would do everything in his power to protect our nation and the American people. Mr. Obama seems completely happy as President of the United States — almost complacent — I think it is because he does not know what he does not know.

Early in his administration he removed nuclear missiles in Europe in the hopes of becoming buddies with the Russian leadership — does naivete have an accent? How did that work Mr. President? Obama did not even ask the Russians for one thing in return. Why? Because he has never negotiated anything in his life. He has no clue how to negotiate. What a surprise. Does this remind us of any other senator? Oh, yeah. Santorum. Just this week we hear that Obama is thinking about reducing America’s nuclear force by 80 percent! He wants to go down in history as the appeasement president.

Governor Romney’s Op-Ed is the kind of steely toughness that America needs right now as the world’s bullies close in. Make no mistake here. Those who assume that Governor Romney will take actions that would escalate tensions do not understand his background. His entire career has involved in negotiating to the win-win result. Governor Romney is a master negotiator. The Chinese and the Iranians are laughing at Obama (and us) every day.

“How I’ll Respond to China’s Rising Power”by Mitt Romney — The Wall Street Journal, 2/16/12

Should the 21st century be an American century? To answer, it is only necessary to contemplate the alternatives.

One much bruited these days is that of a Chinese century. With China’s billion-plus population, its 10% annual average growth rates, and its burgeoning military power, a China that comes to dominate Asia and much of the globe is increasingly becoming thinkable. The character of the Chinese government—one that marries aspects of the free market with suppression of political and personal freedom—would become a widespread and disquieting norm.

MITT ROMNEY ANNOUNCES SUPPORT OF DONALD TRUMP

Boston, MA – Mitt Romney today announced the support of Donald Trump. Mr. Trump joins a growing list of over 2,500 elected officials, leaders and activists from across the country who have endorsed Mitt Romney.

“I am humbled by the endorsements I have received from Republicans across the political spectrum. Donald Trump’s endorsement of me today sends a strong signal that he believes we have the best chance to make President Obama a one-term president,” said Mitt Romney. “We share both a background in the private sector and a belief that Washington needs to get out of the way of small business. His support is a sign that business leaders are fed up with Washington and want someone with actual experience creating jobs and working in the real economy in the White House.”

With the alarming news today from the CBO, the real and urgent need for America’s business leaders to boldly fight their way to the front lines on Capitol Hill couldn’t be more clear. Good Ship America is sinking under the crippling cargo of burgeoning debt, harmful business regulations, heavy taxation, squandering of federal monies, crony capitalism, trade imbalances, dependence on foreign oil, and a growing entitlement mentality.

Obamanomics and anti-capitalist rhetoric, combined with class warfare, are tonnage that makes it almost impossible to come up for air.

Today’s endorsement from Donald Trump, whose name brand is known throughout the world, shines a spotlight on growing support for Romney from America’s job creators, entrepreneurs, risk-takers, small business owners, large industry leaders, venture capitalists, and more. It’s a call for all capitalist hands on deck.

    Keep the American Dream alive.

Support Mitt Romney; donate to his one-term fund today!

*Speaking on Neil Cavuto’s FOX News TV program this afternoon, contributor Monica Crowley said “Newt would have walked over his grandmother’s grave for this endorsement.”

Ambassador Edelman: Romney Will Renew U.S. Leadership, Sen Thune Praises Romney (VIDEO)

Eric Edelman, former Under Secty of Defense for Policy and former Ambassador to Turkey and Finland

Ambassador Eric Edelman weighs in on Mitt Romney’s debate performance last night:

    Boston, MA
    United States

Mitt Romney’s Special Adviser on Foreign Policy and former Under Secretary of Defense for Policy, Eric Edelman, made the following statement after tonight’s debate in Washington, DC:

“I believe Mitt Romney clearly won tonight’s debate with a compelling presentation of a foreign policy based on American strength and resolve. The United States and the international system are at an inflection point as they face the prospect of new nuclear-armed powers like Iran and North Korea, a rising China, the continued terrorism of radical Jihadism, and a turbulent Middle East. Mitt Romney understands that this is a dangerous time for America to shrink our military, retreat from the world, or defer to other actors. All Americans can rest assured that Governor Romney will secure both our interests and ideals with a strong national defense, resolute diplomacy, and a renewal of American leadership.”

    Background on Eric Edelman:

Eric Edelman was under Secretary of Defense for Policy from 2005 to 2009. Edelman served as U.S. Ambassador to Turkey (2003 to 2005), U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of Finland (1998 to 2001), and Principal Deputy Assistant to the Vice President for National Security Affairs (2001 to 2003).

Senator John Thune joined Mitt Romney in Iowa, on the day before Thanksgiving, to deliver a strong endorsement for the former governor of Massachusetts. Romney and Thune spoke at a townhall meeting at Nationwide Insurance in Des Moines. A Q&A session was also held (about an hour).

C-Span recorded the event; click here to enjoy.

Romney also held a telephone townhall while in Iowa yesterday:

Speaking to thousands of Iowans in a telephone town hall, Mitt Romney pledged Wednesday to be a visible presence in the state in the weeks leading up to its first-in-the-nation presidential voting contest.

“You’ll be seeing more and more of me as we get closer to the caucuses,” he said. “Hopefully I’ll be able to convince almost all of you to go to caucus. I really do want your support.”

… Romney just opened a campaign headquarters in Des Moines and is visiting the state more frequently. He is expected to begin airing commercials soon, having recently videotaped one here.
    […]
Though his campaign has kept expectations low this time around, much has gone Romney’s way — the contest is more wide open at this point than in any Iowa nominating contest in memory, and the socially conservative and evangelical voters who thwarted him in 2008 have failed to coalesce behind a candidate.

If he can persuade his 2008 supporters to turn out for him again and the social conservative and evangelical voters who dominate the caucuses remain splintered, Romney could win on Jan. 3 despite spending a fraction of the money and time he spent here four years ago. That, coupled with an expected victory in the New Hampshire primary a week later, could seal the GOP race.
    […]
“We haven’t changed what we’ve been doing,” said David Kochel, Romney’s Iowa director. “We’ve been here several times, we’ll be back several times, and we’ve had small staff here, but they’ve worked hard and we respect the process and hope to do well here.”
