The question burning of everyone’s mind is will Mitt come out swinging against Gingrich. Romney may not have to do much swinging because Bachman, Santorum, Perry may do it for him.

I hope Gingrich becomes the pinata tonight. I eagerly await the show.

  2. @bcollins

My guess is Team Romney’s main objective is to take down Newt. I’m also guessing that the plan to do so may be wait and see if the other candidates can do it for him, or wait and see if Newt goes on the offense against Mitt first, and respond in kind.

This is going to be an intense show.

  3. Lisa says:

George Stephanopoulos is not a Mitt fan. I wish they would spend 30 seconds to say each candidates resume or like what job they held the past 30 years. A lot of folks are not aware of Mitt’s accomplishments in the private sector.

  4. Georgia Tauchas says:

I am confident that Mitt will be the winner tonight! He is so very capable to take office today! Go Mitt!

  5. Georgia Tauchas says:

    Go Mitt!

  6. Abc123 says:

Wow watching the post debate, how stupid and bias these guys are….mitt is being so patient right now and I hope he wins it all. He really opened up about his upbringing and church experience, really touched me.

  7. Annette says:

If anyone was listening to the words coming out of Newt Gingrich’s mouth, you know that he did not win the debate. He had the wrong answers on the Palestinian issue, amnesty, individual NATIONAL mandate and he just simply denies being anything more than a consultant for Freddie Mac. According to ABC Gingrich defended himself adequately and all anyone will remember is Romney making a bet with Perry for $10,000. A Romney nomination scares them so they spin the debate against him.

  8. Gary Alan Chidester says:

Yesterday, Gov. Romney, his wife, Ann, and his son, Josh, all spoke at the Diamond V Headquarters in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. I traveled 120 miles and arrived three minutes before Gov. Romney came out and spoke to a group of around 300 supporters. His message was clear, factual, and his vision to restore America was realistic. His knowledge and experience, on both foreign and domestic issues, is remarkable. Gov. Romney is articulate, compassionate, and his family values are impeccable. His wife of 42 years, Ann Romney, gave a short word of support for her husband. One phrase she said rang true with the crowd. She said: “If Mitt wins, America wins.”

  9. ND from Tennessee says:

I agree wholeheartedly! If Mitt wins, America wins! He was destined for the job of President of the United States at this time of financial crisis. I just hope the pundits and spin meisters don’t get the upper hand here. He not only has to fight the Democrats and the Republicans but also the main stream media and even Fox now, too. I just pray we can put this fine man in office and let him do his magic!

  10. Ivan says:

I knew It!!! This is just tooooo coincidental and the timing is too perfect. 10000 sounded a bit weird, as in intentionally specific. How about a million, or just $5? Here is what I think is happening-
Intentionally inject something related to a piece of news that is not within the scope of the media’s limited political interests, and then let the media and DNC waste money and time blowing it up only to find that the only story is their blatant hypocrisy.

Same firestorm as the other ingenious ad by camp Romney-
In this case the media and libs are rushing to condemn Romney for bragging, in effect, about his means, thus showing how out of touch he is with the working class. Turns out, it was a tongue in cheek jab at the liberal media, as well as the calling out of Perry. Will the media and DNC machine’s premature over responses (resulting in an investment of time and money) payoff? I sincerely doubt it.

An even more powerful liberal did a similar thing in recent news-

Cohen from Southern Poverty Law Center made 10000 bet with Bill O’Reilly and now wants him to pay up. O‘Reilly wasn’t even serious about it.
    See for yourself-

That was only a few inutes of searching…

  11. lwof mich says:

I think Mitt Romney should counter the attacks that his offer to bet 10,000 showed that he was out of touch with the poor of the nation with saying that he has made no secret of the fact that He is rich and the nation knows that, but because He is already rich He is not running to be President in order to enrich himself or to use the people,s money for personal gains like most politicicians including the one in the white house right now.He is simply running because He loves the country and right now it is in dire need of someone with the smarts to get it going again and give everyone in this country a chance to do better financially.

  12. Katrina says:

Good work, Ivan! Mitt has a history of giving nods to bits of news, even SNL skits, in just a few words. I wouldn’t be surprised if he did have the Bob Beckel bet in the back of his incredible mind. Regardless, it seems ten grand is a normal bluff bet or exaggeration bet to show how much you stand behind your comments. The point is that fact-checkers stand with Mitt. He knows his book better than Perry, and Perry was purposely misrepresenting Mitt’s positions and the normal process of revising the newest edition of a book to reflect new information.

I agree with a previous poster who said the media wants the bet to be the story but the real story was that Gingrich did NOT do well in this debate. His answers were weak at best and he got attacked on all fronts. Newt is going down.

  13. Alan says:

I think to make the 10000 bet was just calling Perry for his consistant lie about Mitt’s stand on the mandates. Perry was so sure and cocky about what Mitt wrote, Mitt just being fed up told Perry to put his money where his mouth is, or be quiet. The camps and media will put the spin on it any way they want, right or wrong. Mitt should make the same bet to anyony that mis represents his issues. I’m am a low income middle class man, and I was not offended on the wager.

  14. Dean says:

I understand why they would, but it’s important that everyone knows Rick Perry and Jon Huntsman are lying. http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2011/sep/23/rick-perry/rick-perry-says-mitt-romney-deleted-health-care-li/

I know we want Bachmann’s endorsement, but everyone should also know that her pants are on fire. http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2011/dec/11/michele-bachmann/michele-bachmann-says-former-mass-gov-mitt-romney-/
