BREAKING: Unemployment Rate Rises

This morning, the Department of Labor released the long awaited unemployment statistic for the country. Today we found out that the unemployment rate actually rose again from last month and that the unemployment rate is higher today than when Barack Obama took office four years ago.

The unemployment rate is now 7.9% and when Barack Obama took office it was 7.8%. Of course the unemployment number does not count those who have simply given up looking for work or those who are employed just part-time when they actually want full time work. This jobs report shows that America’s economy is stagnating rather than improving.

The harsh reality of the unemployment number is that too many Americans are struggling to provide for their kids, save for college, save for retirement, or just plain create a better life for themselves. These times are hard for too many Americans as incomes have actually gone down every year for the last four years.

Here is Mitt Romney’s statement on the jobs report this morning:

The jobless rate is higher than it was when President Obama took office, and there are still 23 million Americans struggling for work. On Tuesday, America will make a choice between stagnation and prosperity. For four years, President Obama’s policies have crushed America’s middle class. For four years, President Obama has told us that things are getting better and that we’re making progress. For too many American families, those words ring hollow.

Economists at the Wall Street Journal had this to say about today’s job numbers: “the recovery remains disappointing compared to prior economic recoveries”
and “the bottom line is that the labor market remains unusually weak.”

Obama Wants Secty of BUSINESS? USA Needs BUSINESSMAN Mitt Romney!

President Obama recently stated, if reelected, he might rustle up a Secretary of Business.

Why?

Because, when it comes to business, Obama is LOST.

Plus, tossing out that new position to the masses is a two-fer for Obama. He thinks it makes him sound smart and hopes it assuages the electorate’s fear about him right now – that he doesn’t know what he’s doing.

Obama’s out-to-lunch-on-business evidence: His colossal mountain of national debt is proof. America’s pitiful downgraded credit rating is proof. His ‘shovel-ready‘ projects, er, lack thereof, is proof. His weak economy is proof. The number of desperate Americans standing in unemployment lines is proof. Americans working part-time when they fiercely need a full-time job is proof. Those who have given up – just stopped looking for a job is proof. Declining, downward middle class incomes is proof. The sad number of Americans descended into poverty is proof. The woeful number of Americans on welfare is proof. The atrocious number of U.S. citizens surviving on food stamps is proof. Swelling disability rolls are proof. His take-over socialization of health care is proof. His trade policies are proof. Onerous job-impeding federal regulations are proof. His auto bailout is proof. His squandered “stimulus” of $787 billion which America’s children and grandchildren will be forced to pay back is proof. His nix-on-anything beneath-the-ground energy policy is proof. (Federal oil drilling permits down 36%! War on coal! No Keystone pipeline! High gasoline prices! And, with the October bankruptcy of Satcon Technology Corp as many as 50 Obama-backed green energy companies have gone belly up or are wobbling!) His hoped-for tax policy is proof. His aversion to numbers, e.g., a federal budget, is proof.

Obama’s badgering, big government beliefs are bad for America. When it comes to business, our outsourcer President is agonizingly, hair-pullingly, head-bangingly daft. That’s why he’s dangling the idea of adding another bureaucrat and bureaucracy if he finagles another four.

Team Romney has released a fantastic new ad. We’ve only got five days, people. Let’s SHARE it!

Barack Obama recently said he might appoint a Secretary of Business.

His solution to everything is to add another bureaucrat.

Mitt Romney understands business and knows what it will take to create jobs and get our economy moving again.

He’s done it before.

He’ll do it again.

At this crucial, decisive time, America must have a president who UNDERSTANDS business.

America needs Mitt Romney.

UPDATE – Paul Ryan’s remarks on Obama at Greeley, Colorado today (November 1, 2012):

“He can’t run on the broken promises. He can’t run on the trillion-dollar deficits each and every year. But he did come up with a new idea the other day. He’s got a new idea for the second term, and here’s what it is. In addition to all the borrowing and all the spending and all the money printing and all the regulating, he wants a new Cabinet position. He wants to create a new secretary of business. You know, we already have a secretary of business. It’s actually called the Secretary of Commerce. That’s what this agency does. Let me ask you a question. Can anybody name our current Secretary of Commerce? You know why? We don’t have one. It’s been vacant for over four months, and the president hasn’t even proposed or put somebody in the job. We don’t need another bureaucrat or another bureaucracy.”

For President

After nearly four years of economic stagnation, massive unemployment, record-setting debt and government intrusions into the economy that have paralyzed the private sector, the United States needs a new direction. For this reason, The Dispatch urges voters to choose Republican Mitt Romney for president in the Nov. 6 election.

Four years after promising hope and change, and after a deficit-driving $787 billion stimulus program, here is the result:

• 12.1 million unemployed, with an unemployment rate above 8 percent for 43 of the past 44 months.

• 8.6 million working part time because they can’t find full-time work

• 2.5 million who wanted to work, but have stopped looking for jobs.

• In 2009, real median household income was $52,195. By 2011, it had fallen to $50,054

• In 2009, the U.S. poverty rate was 14.3 percent. By 2011, the poverty rate climbed to 15 percent.

• On Obama’s watch, 12 million more Americans joined the food-stamp program, which has reached a record of more than 46 million enrollees.

• Annual federal budget deficits above $1 trillion for the past four years, increasing the national debt to an all-time high of $16 trillion.

Obama has failed. That is why Mitt Romney is the preferred choice for president. Romney’s adult life has been spent turning around troubled private and public institutions. These turnarounds include scores of companies acquired and restructured by Bain Capital, the investment firm he founded in 1984. Not all were successes, but that is because to a significant degree, many of the companies Bain took on were high-risk. In 1999, he was asked to take over the scandal-plagued and fiscally mismanaged 2002 Olympics in Salt Lake City. He quickly streamlined its management, fixed its finances and guaranteed its security, turning it into a success. As governor of Massachusetts, he made tough decisions to lead the state out of a budget deficit, and he did so in a state dominated by Democrats.

As a career businessman and former governor, Romney brings a wealth of executive experience in the private sector and the public sector that dwarfs that of Obama. From working both sides of the government/private-sector equation, he understands how that relationship can aid or impede prosperity. His election would be an immediate signal to the private sector that someone who knows what he is doing is managing the nation’s economic policy. The effect on business confidence would be dramatic and immediate, and business confidence is the vital ingredient needed to spur investment and hiring, the two things that the United States so desperately needs.

In 2008, Americans made a leap of faith when they elevated the inexperienced Obama to the White House. That faith was not rewarded. This time, voters should place their hopes for change in experience, by electing Romney.

Our Pick For President: Romney

Two days after his lackluster first debate performance, President Barack Obama’s re-election hopes got a timely boost. The government’s monthly jobless report for September showed the nation’s unemployment rate fell below 8 percent for the first time since he took office.

If that were the only metric that mattered, the president might credibly argue that the U.S. economy was finally on the right track. Unfortunately for him, and for the American people, he can’t.

We have little confidence that Obama would be more successful managing the economy and the budget in the next four years. For that reason, though we endorsed him in 2008, we are recommending Romney in this race.

Now the president and his supporters are attacking Romney because his long-term budget blueprint calls for money-saving reforms to Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security, three of the biggest drivers of deficit spending. Obama would be more credible in critiquing the proposal if he had a serious alternative for bringing entitlement spending under control. He doesn’t.

[T]he core of Romney’s campaign platform, his five-point plan, at least shows he understands that reviving the economy and repairing the government’s balance sheet are imperative — now, not four years in the future.

Romney has a strong record of leadership to run on. He built a successful business. He rescued the 2002 Winter Olympics from scandal and mismanagement. As governor of Massachusetts, he worked with a Democrat-dominated legislature to close a $3billion budget deficit without borrowing or raising taxes….

But after reflecting on his [Obama's] four years in the White House, we also don’t think that he’s the best qualified candidate in this race.

We endorse Mitt Romney for president.

Piers Morgan: “Romney Might Just Save America”, Romney Sons Stop By

Romney family (pictured left to right)- Matt, Tagg, Craig, Governor Mitt Romney, Ann, Ben, and Josh.
(Photo – Win McNamee/AFP)

Looking back at the week, did you catch the Romney sons (minus Dr. Ben) on ‘Piers Morgan Tonight’? They were welcomed to Morgan’s television set the day before the second presidential debate, on Oct 15, 2012.

Besides asking about new brother, ‘Tugg’, Piers Morgan asked the four if they are considering what life might be like as the ‘First Family’. His cretinous slipping in of the term “irrational” in his question regarding the positive poll response for Governor Romney after his first presidential debate was… coyly CNN-ish.

The sons concurred that their father’s first presidential debate was a definite plus, and also added that once the vice-presidential pick was chosen, Congressman Paul Ryan, that’s when people began to really pay attention.

The response to how they might deal with being America’s First Family?

Craig Romney summed it up, “To borrow a sports cliche, we’re taking it one day at a time. We honestly are.”

Tagg, Josh, Matt, and Craig Romney were good-humored, entertaining, and are a credit to their parents and the campaign.

A couple of days before the Romney sons appeared on his program, liberal Morgan pierced the hearts of some of his fans by publishing an article giving a half-way endorsement for Romney. And, that’s beastly for Obama:

The great messianic tidal wave of optimism Obama swept in on has been replaced by harsh reality.

He promised Americans tremendous ‘hope’ and ‘change’ and, frankly, they don’t feel he’s given them much hope, or changed very much.

…[U]nemployment is still running at a scarily high 7.8 per cent, meaning 23 million Americans are out of work. Meanwhile, the country’s national debt has risen to a staggering $16 TRILLION, up $5 trillion from when Obama took over. Factor in a still severely deflated housing market, and petrol prices double what they were in 2008, and it all adds up to a pretty miserable economic picture.

That’s where Romney can win. His track record as a businessman is better than almost any presidential candidate ever. He also almost single-handedly turned round the fortunes of the Salt Lake City Winter Olympics in 2002, after the organising committee turned to him desperate for help.

While throwing a bone to his fans with the false Romney flip-flop meme (don’t cha know Obama evolves?), Morgan also added:

Should Romney now win on November 6, … America will also have elected the squeakiest-clean man ever to run for the presidency in any country in the world.

That’s right, Piers.

It’s high time for some squeaky cleanness in the White House.

Obama Just Doesn’t Understand

November’s election will likely come down to how people feel about the candidates…what their gut tells them.

Unfortunately for the president, jobs numbers and anemic economic growth continue to be, as Mitt Romney has put it, a continual “kick in the gut.” Despite finally pulling to even compared to when he came into office at 7.8% unemployment, after taking into account everyone who stopped working due to Obama discouragement, the unemployment rate would now be over 10%. Not acceptable.

In addition, it’s clear Obama just doesn’t get it when it comes to job creation. At Tuesdays’ debate he kept incredulously saying Mitt’s tax plan didn’t work because it contained trillions in cuts (that Mitt says aren’t even accurate), and he doesn’t understand how they’re paid for. Is anyone surprised Obama just doesn’t understand? It’s clear from his record. Why should we be surprised he scratches his head when looking at Mitt’s plan? Mitt knows: cutting taxes will help create jobs. It worked for Reagan. Paul Ryan pointed out it worked for Kennedy. It’ll work for President Romney.

If you think President Obama is a friend to the middle class, and you have a job, congratulations, you’re in better shape than many. But you need to watch this video from back in April to understand just what will happen to you under Obama’s planned tax increases. Not just for the wealthy, but everyone.

President Obama’s response to anemic job growth? Raise taxes. Apply leaches to the patient of the economy. As the growth of the economy has been slower the longer he’s been president, he’s still said he’s taken “step[s] in the right direction.” Tiny steps, getting shorter.

It makes me wonder, after all of President Obama’s attempts to label Mitt Romney as a job outsourcer or out-of-touch rich guy, who is the real friend of the middle class? Even if President Obama is really trying, nothing he’s doing is working. Past reports have said the Obama recovery ranked dead last in modern times, at that time ten out of ten for both jobs and economic growth. I haven’t found an updated report, but I understand growth has slowed, not improved, since. During the period measured, jobs had grown only 4.1% since the recession’s low point. Reagan’s record during the same period was 10.7%. So it’s not like it can’t be done. It’s been done before.

Romney Tax Cheat? Harry Reid’s Aide Speaks Specifics, Then EATS WORDS

“Harry, Sasquatch on line three…”
By Glenn McCoy – August 8, 2012

The latest on Harry Rumormonger Reid…

After tripling and quartering down on the BIG LIE (senate floor campaigning cowardice) that Mitt Romney is a tax cheat, Recede Reid hasn’t been heard from. But, aah… Yesterday, he sent one of his aides out to furiously fan the flames of fiction. It didn’t go so well:

After days of silence on Harry Reid’s disputed claim that Mitt Romney hasn’t paid taxes for a decade, a top aide finally spilled details on the supposed source of the allegation — only to issue a wholesale retraction of those details by Thursday evening.

Reid aide Jose Parra first made the claims in an interview on Los Angeles’ KTLK radio, defending his boss’ decision to trumpet the tax charge last week on the Senate floor and explaining a bit about the source.

“This person is an investor in Bain Capital, a Republican also, and somebody … who has been dealing with Romney’s company for a long, long time and he has direct knowledge on this,” Parra said.

Parra’s statement comes after Romney challenged fib-squibber Harry to “put up or shut up.”

Stoolpigeon Parra backpedals…

However, after some media attention on Parra’s radio interview, Parra issued a statement taking those remarks back.

I do not know the party affiliation of the source, how long he invested with Bain, or his relationship to Romney …” he said.

Runaway Reid… No surprise here (because he’s on vacation, far away from the protection of the Senate floor!):

Asked Friday about the mix-up, a Reid aide told FoxNews.com the senator “does not have any plans to reveal further information about the identity of his source.”

What a cacophony of calumny and cowardice coming from Obama’s defenders!

Chicken-hearted Harry is holed up somewhere among the cacti in Nevada hoping he won’t choke on the crow he’ll soon be eating.

Hey, Harry. YOU haven’t released your tax information, the unemployment rate in Nevada is still at 11.6% , and Las Vegans are suffering under a 12.6% jobless rate. No matter how much you try to distract, unemployment across America is at 8.3%. And, what about your complete and utter failure to pass a Senate budget in almost 1200 days? What are you hiding? If you’re such a smart guy, why don’t you figure out how to put a budget together?

Senator Secret, if you’re such a lover of the TRUTH, listen to this: Your job performance stinks and you are sorely lacking in ethics. A private-sector employer would have fired you long ago.

Senate Leader Harry Reid makes time to play pat-a-cake with Michelle Obama but hasn’t been able to squeeze in the time, for nearly four years, to pass a budget. (Photo taken June 1, 2010, Nevada desert)

Romney Blasts Obama on Jobs Report: “Another Hammer Blow to Struggling Middle-Class”

Economy barely putt-putting along… Team Obama says they’re “ahead of the curve.”

8.3%.

23 million Americans are out of work.

July’s jobs report reveals another bruising whack at the middle-class.

While speaking to voters today at ‘Sierra Truck Body and Equipment’ in North Las Vegas, NV, Governor Mitt Romney responded to the jobs news:

“And, of course, today we just got a new number from the unemployment report and it’s another hammer blow to the struggling middle-class families of America because the President has not had policies that put American families back to work. I do. I’ll put them in place and get America working again. You know this. These numbers are not just statistics. These are real people really suffering, having hard times. 23 million Americans out of work, or stopped looking for work, or way underemployed. 23 million. The official unemployment number: 8.3 percent. That’s the longest period of time, 42 months, the longest period of time we have had unemployment above 8 percent in American history – since this has been recorded. This is an extraordinary record of failure. The President’s policies have not worked because he thinks government makes America work. He’s wrong. It’s people like John that make America work.”

(emphasis added)

Team Obama is spinning the latest unemployment news as being “somewhat ahead of the curve.” Uh huh. That goes hand-in-glove with Obama’s lofty declarations that “the private sector is doing just fine“, “you didn’t build that“, and the economy will be stimulated if we “buy furnace thingamajigs.”

Romney continued to reassure Americans he knows how to get Americans working again:

“And so the time has come for a plan that will actually get America’s workers back to work, that’ll create more jobs and take-home pay. And I know how to do that. This is not a mystery for me. This is not theory. This is practice!”

With his focus on helping the middle class climb out of the Obama morass, Romney presented a five-point economic plan yesterday which includes “achieving energy independence, cutting the deficit and balancing the budget, improving education, strengthening trade practices, and championing small businesses.”

A few results of Obama’s “ahead of the curve” putt-putt governance…

Obama’s Economic Reality, “The Presidential Corollary” (Part I)

Given the current economic realities, with real unemployment at 14.9% and reported unemployment at 8.2% (the 41st consecutive month over 8%); a $5,000,000,000,000 increase in US debt in 3 years (more than all US Presidents in history combined, nearly $20,000 for every man, woman and child in the US); approximately $16,000,000,000,000 in stated US debt (100+% of our economy or Gross Domestic Product, and over $51,000 for every man, woman and child in the US), nearly $60,000,000,000,000 in total US debt (including entitlement liabilities, or nearly $200,000 for every man, woman and child in the US); gas prices having doubled since 2008 to $3.80 per gallon, home foreclosures having risen to historical heights, the US is in a world of hurt, and in spite of Obama’s continued proffering, the trends are not favorable!.

That said, Mr. Obama has done a tremendous job blaming George W. Bush, and everyone and everything else, for all things economic since his ascendency to the Presidency of the United States. If you say something long enough or if your public relations machine is sufficiently myopic in their message before long the distortions become reality in the minds of the electorate – as evidenced in recent polling. Apparently, the Obama message of blame and distortion seems to have taken hold in America where a majority still blame Bush or believe the President cannot really affect jobs and the economy. Even so, it is time for a reality check that needs to be shouted from every rooftop! Mr. Obama owns this economy as it should have turned long ago, and he cannot expect to turn this economy with his latest ObamaCare Tax.

The economic realities can be viewed through an historical lens. During the Carter Era the US suffered its greatest economic stress since the Great Depression. All economic metrics were at historical highs. Ronald Reagan was elected President amid great economic and global tumult, and within his first term had turned the tide. Below is a brief of why with respect to the economy. As to global tumult, Reagan turned the tide with strength and decisiveness – restoring America to its divine exceptional role of advocating for freedom and liberty!

Stephen Moore of the Cato Institute stated that “no act in the last quarter century had a more profound impact on the US economy of the eighties and nineties than the Reagan tax cut of 1981.” He claims that Reagan’s tax cuts, combined with an emphasis on federal monetary policy, deregulation, and expansion of free trade created a sustained economic expansion creating America’s greatest sustained wave of prosperity ever. He also claims that the American economy grew by more than a third in size, producing a $15 trillion increase in American wealth. Consumer and investor confidence soared. Cutting federal income taxes, cutting the US government spending budget, cutting useless programs, scaling down the government work force, maintaining low interest rates, and keeping a watchful inflation hedge on the monetary supply was Ronald Reagan’s formula for a successful economic turnaround.

In a speech by Milton Friedman to the Cato Institute:[52], Friedman states that “Reaganomics had four simple principles: lower marginal tax rates, less regulation, restrained government spending, noninflationary monetary policy. Though Reagan did not achieve all of his goals, he made good progress.” This is why entrepreneurs flourished under Reaganomics: lower tax rates and inflation coupled with less regulation favored improved environments for market-based funding, risk-taking, access to labor (leading to greater employment), and a more level playing field between these entrepreneurs and large corporations. Illustrating this, the Heritage Foundation:[53] states that this is why “the U.S. government must allow the entrepreneur to enjoy the rewards of success. If taxes take away most profit, then the entrepreneur will have less incentive to take a risk. If there are great restrictions on how the entrepreneur can use his profit, then there is little reason for the entrepreneur to take a risk. The entrepreneur’s courage to take a risk is what leads to new American discoveries and what drives the U.S. economy forward. Reaganomics knows this. It is one of the reasons why Ronald Reagan has reduced American taxes dramatically”*

*quotes gathered from Wikipedia.

Since taking office Barack Obama has done the exact opposite of Ronald Reagan and we are experiencing the results of his failed economic policies. Barack Obama has no one to blame but himself. Barack Obama owns this economy!

Proven in the policies of Ronald Reagan, the POTUS can positively or negatively have a profound affect on the US economy. Leadership matters; policies matter, and President Obama has through his failed policies severely and negatively affected the US economy. Obama’s spending, borrowing, tax and regulatory policies, energy policy, government overreach, and Obamacare have had their intended effect – to create a more dependent American society; we are becoming a ‘purchased society,’ and as such, we are losing our freedoms and liberties with each passing day. November counts and so does change!

Immigration – The Right Solution vs Broken Barack’s Imperious Edict & Political Ploy!

Recently noted in a great article by Clark Judge, Managing Director, White House Writers Group, Inc.; Chairman, Pacific Research Institute, at HughHewitt.com -
”Let us never forget,” wrote Joseph Story, one of our history’s most revered Supreme Court justices, “that our constitutions of government are solemn instruments… not to be frittered away to please the demagogues of the day…. They are of no man’s private interpretation. They are ordained by the will of the people; and can be changed only by the sovereign command of the people.”

It is a dangerous trait we see here: a taste for arbitrary power in a president of the United States.

The matter of immigration in the United States is the domain of Congress, our Legislative Branch of the US Government. Constitutionally, we have empowered Congress with certain rights, duties and responsibilities; immigration laws, as with other lawmaking, policy making and related actions fall thereunder. Similarly, we have entrusted and empowered the US Supreme Court to assure that our legislative acts, laws and treaties, as well as the actions of the Executive Branch are compliant with the US Constitution. To quote Clark Judge again, “It is a dangerous trait we see here: a taste for arbitrary power in a president of the United States.”

What does Barack Obama think?

“Its a remarkable document…but I think it is an imperfect document…and reflects some deep flaws…” “It has a blindspot”

By his imperious actions, not just this past week with immigration, but in previous periods and on innumerable counts, Barack Obama has sought to obviate the Constitutional process and system instituted by our Founding Fathers. It is disconcerting beyond measure when the President of the United States acts without regard to the founding principles of our Nation; and this a Constitutional Law professor from Chicago??? What duplicity!

Charles Krauthamer offers further commentary here:

Fortunately, Mitt Romney has the reasoned capacity to understand and further respects the Constitutionally grounded foundations of our Nation. He also has the presence of mind not to fall prey to Broken Barack’s political ploys and taunts, wherein he sought to lure Governor Romney away from what matters (the economy) and into a discussion on immigration. Obama intentionally co-opted positions that were similar to pending actions of Congress – it isn’t the position he took but the manner and basis for his taking. And yet, the MSM blasted Mitt for a tepid response. Mitt Romney knows who bears responsibility for immigration and is committed to work within the system; he is committed to LEAD, something Barack Obama has failed to do. In fact, Broken Barack’s edicts are simply a ‘fool’s errand’ and derivative of failed leadership.

Notice Mitt Romney’s response below to Bob Schieffer:

ROMNEY: This is something Congress has been working on, and I thought we were about to see some proposals brought forward by Senator Marco Rubio* and by Democrat senators, but the president jumped in and said I’m going to take this action . . . He was president for the last three and a half years and did nothing on immigration. Two years he had a Democrat House and Senate, did nothing of a permanent or long-term basis. What I would do, is I’d make sure that by coming into office, I would work with Congress to put in place a long-term solution for the children of those that have come here illegally. . . .

SCHIEFFER: But would you repeal this? . . .

ROMNEY: My anticipation is I’d come into office and say we need to get this done, on a long-term basis, not this kind of stop-gap measure. What the president did, he should have worked on this years ago, if he felt seriously about this he should have taken action when he had a Democrat House and Senate, but he didn’t. He saves these sort of things until four and a half months before the general election.

*See Senator Marco Rubio’s commentary on the matter in National Review Online, here.

Obama is treading on very dangerous turf, and to what end? His political fortunes weigh in the balance and he is above all things, POLITICAL. Even Pat Caddell, a Democratic strategist of renown status stated on Hannity the other night that, “Obama would do anything to get re-elected.” Frightening and dangerous.

The irony of it all is in the response of Felipe Calderon, President of Mexico. This, a country that imprisons illegal aliens coming across their borders.

Fortunately for America we have a man of character and integrity seeking to displace Obama. Mitt Romney understands the checks and balances of the Constitution. In spite of the contrary press, he stands resolute in what is right. I know that Mitt Romney has a defined agenda for the immigration challenges we face as a Nation. They are not myopically centered in ‘illegal’ immigration – but on IMMIGRATION. It demands a comprehensive long term solution, and he is meant to work within the Nation’s Constitutional framework to lead on this issue. Under President Romney we will see the needed changes in this regard. We will see an enforcement of our laws, we will see a secure border, and we will fix what is broken in our legal immigration processes, and consequentially see a waning of illegal immigrants. I look forward to the day when we retain the mindshare of our legal immigrants that are educated in our higher learning institutions; I look forward to the day when we see those with talent, resource and creative will coming more easily into our country to stimulate growth and economy; I look forward to the day when we attract the brightest and best in the world and they find a home in our Nation, and contribute to the fabric of our societies; I look forward to the empowerment of our economy and our people, and restore the rule of law that seems to have been abandoned by President Obama; I look forward to the day that we call my friend, PRESIDENT ROMNEY!

President Obama’s ‘Closer’ Came Out of the Bullpen Too Early

I love baseball. I love the strategy employed by managers to attempt to control every facet of the game. I love it when things work out in their favor thinking that somehow their decision to pitch their ace right hander against the pinch hitter that hits .106 against righties works out in their favor. Maybe I just like having the odds in my favor.

Leland Bruce

I recall as an aspiring Little League all-star my father taking me out to the school yard daily to throw painted hard balls at me and command that I scream the color of the paint as I swung at his mighty fastball. Try having a dad that is 6’6” and throws a fastball at 80 mph at you when you are still finger painting in 4th period and have feelings of exhilaration for 6th period Spelling Bee’s. Talk about strategy! My dad was just putting the numbers in his favor to ensure that his son could hit a fastball. Excellent execution of a flawless strategy except for the night sweats that I have had for the past 40 years as I see orange, red and blue colored Rawlings hardballs flying past my head while my feet are cemented into the batter’s box!

Yes, I love baseball because one of the key concepts in baseball is to keep your eye on the ball. This artful concept works in politics as well, but since campaign managers wish to employ strategy to control the outcome of the game, oftentimes we are led to take our eye off of the ball. President Obama and his legion of campaign managers, media hacks and public puppet followers are doing all within their power to divert our eyes from the ball and maintain our focus on the pretty new uniforms, the front office, the visiting team and most of all ‘free cap’ night. Free caps for everyone! Hey, that guy has 2 caps! Give me one of yours! Pay your Fair Share! But I bought this one with my own money yells the capitalist fan. Your money is my money comes the reply.

I realize that I am 5,500 miles from home plate, but I cannot believe what I read on print media and what I hear on news outlets. Talk about taking your eye off the ball. Bain Capital? Hey Axelrod, get that one out on our news outlets and see if it sticks. Sorry Barry but Bill Clinton just praised the private equity industry! If that’s his ploy for Hillary 2016 I’ll have his head he screams from Honeywell. OK, retraction, Bill just said you will win by a landslide…. Ann Romney’s blouse? Governor Romney’s record as Governor? The Republican war on women? Dog vacations? 50 year old high school pranks? Willard Romney’s birth certificate? Donald Trump visits? Pay your fair share? Romney doesn’t relate to the middle class? I have eaten cotton candy at the ballpark before but the hyperbole spewing forth from these minions has more air and artificial syrup in it than you could fit into the San Onofre nuclear power plant. Don’t say nuclear Jay Carney, the Left hates that word. I cannot wait for the religious barbs, the man is too handsome, he was a draft dodger, his boys served “Mormon” missions, Ann doesn’t work (Oops, already floated that one and got slammed…… “I know three Hilary Rosen’s; to which do you refer” says Jay Carney… Seriously Mr. President, you didn’t see that question coming?). Mark my words, these curve balls will be forthcoming and will not strike home. Unfortunately for Mr. Obama, the Romney camp and most Americans have their eye on the ball. And I don’t really care what color that Rawlings is painted or how fast it is hurling toward home plate. The message on the ball is simple:

The Economy.

I have to hand it to the Obama administration. They play smart. When your middle relief pitching breaks down you have got to go to your closer and put strategy back in your favor. For those of you who don’t know, this administration only has one closer. It’s called the Bureau of Labor Statistics (“BLS”) and this supposed non-partisan group holds in large part the future of Sir Debt Accumulator in their hands. You see it’s this group that produces the unemployment figures every month as we all anxiously hold our breath to see what falsified number they will actually produce. Unfortunately for Team Obama, the BLS has been more like Mitch Williams of the 90’s as a closer than Mariano Rivera of the 00’s. And much like Rivera’s torn ACL which will impact the Yankees run for the pennant this year, the BLS could become Obama’s Achilles Heel before November. Not that he hasn’t tried to pay off the umpires, hide sandpaper in his mitt (wow what a play on words) or pray for a rain out because he has. Well, maybe not the pray part because he usually golfs on Sundays. Sorry I digress. But yes it’s true, the BLS has been warming up in the bull pen for the past several months and you can bank on the idea that Team Obama will give them the ball at the end of the game. It’s really the only way that they have any chance to win the game. Let me explain…. (more…)
