Mitt Romney’s belief that Iowans play an important role in the electoral process is shored up by his visit today to Dubuque and Davenport. He will meet with voters and speak on jobs and the economy.

Last Friday, Josh Romney, (son of Mitt and Ann) who campaigned in all 99 counties in Iowa last time around, was in Cedar Rapids campaigning for his father and making phone calls for Senate hopeful Cindy Golding:

MARION – “I’m three-for-three,” Josh Romney announced after taking a turn making get-out-the-vote phone calls for Iowa Senate candidate Cindy Golding Nov. 4.

The son of 2012 Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney added an asterisk to his accomplishment.
“That’s two votes for Cindy and a half of a vote for my Dad,” he joked with Golding’s campaign volunteers before joining the Linn Eagles, a Republican fundraising club, for lunch in Cedar Rapids.

Golding is running in a Nov. 8 special election in Iowa Senate 18 in northern and western Linn County. If she defeats Democrat Liz Mathis, the Senate will be tied at 25 Republicans and 25 Democrats.

“What you’re doing here makes a difference,” Romney told the volunteers, because Golding, who along with her husband, Joe, own and operate four small businesses, “will help to grow jobs – like my Dad has done.”

Romney, who sells real estate in Salt Lake City, has been on the campaign trail for his dad this month, making appearances in New Hampshire, where Republicans will have their primary a week after Iowa’s Jan. 3 first-in-the-nation precinct caucuses. The No. 1 issue wherever he goes is jobs and the need to get the economy headed in the right direction, he said, and there is no one better to address job growth than his dad, Romney said.

My dad understands jobs,” he said. “He knows how to create jobs. He’s done it his entire life – turned things around. What we need right now is a turnaround in our country. My dad is the guy to do it.”

Back on Aug 7, 2007, Josh Romney, son of Mitt and Ann Romney, was photographed in Urbandale, Iowa by AP photographer Steve Pope. He was talking about his campaign visits to all 99 Iowa counties while driving the 'MittMobile', a motor home purchased on Ebay. The younger Romney has recently been campaigning for his father and was in Iowa last week.

Governor Romney was last in Iowa on Oct 20th for events in Sioux City, Treynor, and Council Bluffs. Prior to that, Ann Romney was in the Hawkeye State on Oct 4-6 attending events in Adel, Marion, and Bettendorf.

Currently, Governor Romney and Herman Cain are polling at a statistical dead heat in Iowa.
