#UnravelTheSweater: Romney’s New Ad re Santorum – Courage? Super PAC Ad Truthful

Rick Santorum - Unravel the Sweater

A new get-to-the-meat ad from Team Romney focuses on the one word Rick Santorum used to describe himself at this weeks GOP CNN debate…

Courage?
Don’t you agree that Team Romney really hit the nail on the head with this one?

It’s worth noting that another revealing ad about Santorum, created by Restore Our Future (a pro-Romney Super PAC), was reviewed for its veracity by reporter by Ben Swann from WXIX… Rated TRUE on all points:

Rick Santorum – Radical Big Spender in Conservative’s Clothing

Take a moment to go to Swann’s Facebook page, ‘like’ it, go to his wall to find his related post to the above report, and let him know you appreciate his work.

In Case You Missed It: Video of Mitt Romney's Facebook Town Hall + Romney Headlines Drudge

Mitt knocked it out of the park today!

This footage was streamed live to Mitt Romney’s Facebook page during his National Call Day event in Nevada earlier today. The 8-hour fundraiser garnered a whopping $10.25 Million for Romney’s Presidential Exploratory Committee.

~Update from Ross
Even though some of the media isn’t giving Mitt’s fund-raising achievement the attention it deserves, Drudge is doing his part.

UPDATE by Jayde – Headline on Drudge: Did Mitt Romney Mention That He Can Raise $10.25 Million in Eight Hours?

[...]…we continue to maintain that Massachusetts’s health-care reform will not be the be-all-end-all for Republican primary voters that political commentators make it seem. The economy will be the most important issue in 2012, and Romney is seen as a successful businessman. As a reminder, he’s also the only person actually running (unlike Mike Huckabee and Donald Trump) to lead a poll this entire year, and upcoming polls without Huckabee and Trump will probably show him with a big lead over the rest of the field. In addition, not incidentally, he can raise a ton of money.

Exhibit A: Yesterday, Romney and over 700 of his closest friends (and Cindy Crawford, for unexplained reasons) filled the Las Vegas Convention Center in a dialing-for-dollars event that brought in $10.25 million in eight hours. It would probably take Tim Pawlenty about a month to raise that much, especially with all the time his phone-bank volunteers would spend explaining to potential donors who Tim Pawlenty is. It was a display of fund-raising muscle-flexing that should remind both his opponents and his media doubters that, far from a longshot, Romney is still the front-runner.

Mitt Romney’s National Call Day Yields $10.25 MILLLION!

$10.25 MILLION!

Governor Romney’s final National Call Day tally hasn’t been counted but MRC’s Nate Gunderson (who helped at the event) reported from the floor in Vegas today that Spencer Zwick (Romney’s finance chair) announced Gov Romney raised $10.25 MILLION! That astounding one-day total has never been done before in politics.

This is BIG, folks.

Will any other Republican raise this quarter/year to date what Romney says he raised today, $10.25 million?less than a minute ago via Tweetie for Mac Favorite Retweet Reply

Romney hosted a terrific half hour livestream Town Hall at 3:00 PM EST today. When that video is available, we’ll post it here.

A heartfelt thanks to each of you who contributed to Gov Romney’s very successful fundraiser!

NOTE: Gunderson reported that after the event, Romney and wife, Ann, left to speak to students at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV).

UPDATE: In Vegas, Mitt Romney Scores Big

“We are overwhelmed by the outpouring of support for Governor Romney’s campaign,” said Romney’s finance chair Spencer Zwick. “The results are a strong indication of the national enthusiasm for Governor Romney and his pro-jobs platform.

“As today’s event makes clear, Governor Romney will have the resources to be competitive and to spread his jobs and economy message, “added Zwick.
[...]
Initially Romney’s team hoped to raise $3 million; instead they far exceeded their goal.

After Governor Romney's tremendous National Call Day fundraiser and talking with students at UNLV, he shared a couple of stuffed bags of In 'n Out burgers and fries with a small group of Republican students.

UPDATE 2: Governor Romney worked up an appetite today!

Romney spoke to reporters after an event here held on the campus at the University of Nevada Las Vegas. He met with a dozen Republican students, delivering a economic-filled message along with burgers and fries from In-n-Out Burger (Romney dug in, taking large bites of a burger while the students nibbled on some fries: “Looks like I’m the only guy who wanted a burger at four in the afternoon,” Romney joked.)

Reporters also asked Romney about Mike Huckabee’s decision not to undertake a second presidential bid:

“I took that news with mixed emotions,” Romney said. “On the one hand, I’m happy to not be facing a tough and effective competitor in Mike. But on the other hand, he’d be a veteran and we’d have good times together. And I’ll miss him on the campaign trail.”

The Gov also responded to questions about Massachusetts’ private-market insurance: :

“We have in my state a curriculum that we provide to all of our schools, our high schools, and we test kids across the state on our curriculum,” Romney said. “I like what we’ve done, it’s a pretty good job. But the last thing I’d suggest is to take the Massachusetts curriculum for schools and have President Obama tell every state they’ve got to use the Massachusetts curriculum. That would make no sense at all. The needs of different students and the rights of people in different states have to be recognized.”

ReutersMitt Romney: “We’re activating our campaign today.”

“We’re activating our campaign today,” Romney told supporters on a conference call.
[...]
Romney is still a step short of formally announcing a second bid for the Republican primary nomination, but has been on an extensive fund-raising tour and has started to step up his public appearances as well.

The former Massachusetts governor touted his record as a turnaround specialist who can get the U.S. economy on track.

“The American people care about getting good jobs,” Romney said during the eight-minute call. “That is my wheelhouse.”

Romney cited his experience running the 2002 Winter Olympic Games in Salt Lake City, as Massachusetts governor, and as head of the private equity firm Bain Capital.

“My experience, my history is in turning things around. I will get America on the right track again.

TODAY is the Best Day to Donate to Mitt’s Campaign! Don’t Miss the Live Townhall Today at 3:00 EST

We have been collecting pledges for over a month now and finally TODAY is the DAY to donate to Mitt’s campaign!

It doesn’t matter if you made a pledge previously because anyone and everyone should at least chip in a few dollars today to help Mitt blow away his fundraising goal for the day. I fully expect today to be the largest single-day fund-raiser for Mitt’s campaign for the entire primary season. If you think you may donate to Mitt any time before the actual voting starts, TODAY is the DAY to have your donation have the biggest impact.

Up to 1,000 supporters of Gov. Romney are at the Las Vegas Convention Center at an event called National Call Day. The campaign has developed software (ComMitt) aimed at aiding volunteers in raising the most amount of money in the least amount of time. Gov. Romney has amassed an impressive list on contributors over the last many years and he would like as many of them as possible to donate today.

Gov. Romney hosted a live Townhall event followed by a Question & Answer session. We watched it live and you may watch it here again once the video is posted.

UPDATE 4 by Jayde – Scene where it’s all happening right now at National Call Day in the Las Vegas convention center:

On conference call with supporters earlier today, Gov. Romney said that he can win on the economy.

UPDATE 5 by Jayde: There may be Romney supporters who think The Gov’s big donors will take care of him or that he has plenty of his own money, or that your donation today wouldn’t matter. If so, remember this. Any donation, no matter the size, is GREATLY appreciated by Governor Romney. It shows him that you believe in him – enough to give your hard-earned money to him. A donation will solidify your own interest in the well-being of his campaign. You will find yourself more engaged and willing to help Gov Romney get America back on track. And, that’s a good thing.

I encourage everyone to donate at least $10 for Mitt today (more, if possible)! That’s an amount that can be easily compensated in one’s budget by eating a sack lunch this week or using a few grocery store coupons. Like my Mama used to say “Many hands make light work!” If we ALL donate, we can send a strong message for Mitt. This is the day to show Mitt how much you care about our nation. No matter how small the donation, please donate to Governor Romney today. America needs him!

Mitt Romney to Speak at Faith & Freedom Conference in D.C.

June 3rd.

Washington D.C.

Faith and Freedom Conference and Strategy Briefing.

Mitt Romney will be there.

CBN.com:

A top strategist for FFC tells The Brody File that Romney will be speaking at the event on Friday June 3rd. This will be the first time during the 2012 presidential cycle that Romney will speak in front of a predominantly conservative Christian audience. This is a BIG event.

The Faith and Freedom Coalition hosted the big 2012 presidential race kickoff event in Iowa back in March. Ralph Reed is CEO of FFC and they define their mission as being “committed to educating, equipping, and mobilizing people of faith and like-minded individuals to be effective citizens.” The Faith and Freedom Coalition made a huge impact on Evangelical turnout in the 2010 Midterm Elections. They plan to eclipse that effort in 2012.

Last week, Donald Trump agreed to speak at the event. Other confirmed speakers include Michele Bachmann, Rick Santorum, Rand Paul, Congressman Paul Ryan and many others.

(my emphasis)

About the Faith and Freedom Coalition (whoever wrote the following paragraph is describing the life of Gov Romney…):

We believe that the greatness of America lies not in the federal government but in the character of our people — the simple virtues of faith, hard work, marriage, family, personal responsibility, and helping the least among us. If we lose sight of these values, America will cease to be great.

Never before has it been more critical for us to speak out for these values. That is why the Faith and Freedom Coalition is committed to educating, equipping, and mobilizing people of faith and like-minded individuals to be effective citizens. Together we will influence public policy and enact legislation that strengthens families, promotes time-honored values, protects the dignity of life and marriage, lowers the tax burden on small business and families, and requires government to tighten its belt and live within its means.

Don’t forget Romney’s National Call Day in Las Vegas on May 16th.

The Gov’s campaign engine is revving up…
