Not Enough Hope, Too Little Change: Wisconsin State Journal Backing Romney

Did you notice Mitt Romney has snagged another important swing-state endorsement?

It’s a Wisconsin WOWSER!

The Wisconsin State Journal backed Obama in 2008, but they’re now two thumbs-up for Mitt Romney:

Our Pick: Mitt Romney

Not enough hope and too little change.

That is President Barack Obama’s record on the economy, debt and Washington gridlock after four years in the White House.

The State Journal editorial board endorses Mitt Romney in Tuesday’s presidential election.

Romney showed as the Republican governor of Democratic-leaning Massachusetts that he can find agreement across the partisan divide. And his vice presidential pick — Wisconsin’s U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Janesville — suggests Romney is serious about tackling America’s fiscal mess.

Romney has an impressive record of success in the private and public sectors. He’s a numbers guy who focuses more on results than ideology. That’s why so many of his fellow Republicans during the GOP primary criticized him for not being conservative enough.

Romney has been a strong leader in business and civic life. This includes turning around many troubled companies and the 2002 Winter Olympics.

Romney better understands how and why entrepreneurs and employers decide to expand and add jobs. He’s more likely to get the private-sector going strong again.

We endorsed Obama for change last time around. Now we’re endorsing change again: Mitt Romney.

WaPo adds:

“The State Journal is based in Madison, a very liberal city where few voters are likely to be persuaded to back a Republican. But the state’s largest paper, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, is no longer endorsing presidential candidates, giving this move more weight.”

This is great news! Share it!

Condi Rice Campaigns For Romney/Ryan in Ohio: Putting USA Back to Work – URGENT CALL

Things are jumping in swing-state Ohio!

For the first time this campaign season, Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice hit the campaign trail yesterday for Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan. At a packed college sports stadium in Berea, Ohio, just outside of Cleveland, Senator Rob Portman pumped up the crowd while introducing Rice. She spoke of the pivotal crossroad our country is now at and, how her service as Secretary of State enabled her to see how important America’s role is in the world. Following her inspirational remarks, VP candidate Paul Ryan gave a rousing speech to the enthusiastic crowd.

Here’s video:

Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice:

I’m here because I want, like you, to see this country prosper, to see this country continue to be a place of unlimited opportunity, to see this country lead the world toward prosperity, and liberty, and peace. And so, I’m here to support Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan in this quest.”

This is a pivotal time in our country’s history.”

The last four years have been very tough on folks who just want to work hard and make a living. … Many Americans out of work wonder if they’re ever going to work again and, you know, they have reason to [worry] because the longer you’re out of work, the less likely you are to find a job. And so, when Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan say they’re going to put this country back to work – THIS IS AN URGENT CALL – not one for which we can wait another four years.”

After the event, Ryan, Rice, and Portman toured the Cleveland Browns football training facility.

America’s First Sons? A Look at Tagg, Matt, Josh, Ben, & Craig Romney

Governor Mitt Romney and his five sons:
(left to right) Craig, Ben, Tagg, The Gov, Josh, and Matt.

They could become America’s first sons…

Mitt and Ann Romney’s five sons are known for their indefatigable help during the last presidential primary process (remember the Five Brothers’ Blog and MittMobile?), their loyalty, their good looks, and their love of competition. Busy as they are this time around, whenever possible, they’re quick to hop on the campaign trail to lend a hand in any way.

NBC’s Peter Alexander got them together for an interview airing on ‘Rock Center’ this Thursday, July 19th (10PM-9central):

Ranging in age from 31 to 42, their names are Craig, Ben, Josh, Matt, and Tagg

Just like any group of brothers, they like to pick on each other, even during their first sit-down interview of the 2012 campaign. They say Josh, the middle son, is the mama’s boy.

“Thanks guys. Let’s take it easy here,” replied Josh, one of three Romney sons who works in real estate. Another son is a doctor. The eldest runs a private equity firm like their father once did.

They are all married and have a combined total of 18 children. If Romney wins, he’ll have more grandkids than any sitting president in U.S. history.

The Romney boys grew up in Belmont, Massachusetts where the work and service ethic was instilled in them, as well as having fun together. They later all attended Brigham Young University (as did their parents). Three continued on to receive MBA’s from Harvard (like The Gov) and another attended Tufts University School of Medicine and University of Utah School of Medicine.

…[W]hen it came to Romney’s second run for the White House, four of his five boys didn’t want him to run.

“I didn’t want him to run again. I really didn’t,” Matt said, “I thought you know, you gave it your best shot in 2008, you felt like you had to do it, you had to go and give back to the country and you tried, and they didn’t take you, so let’s move on.”

Matt and the others eventually came around. And again the Romney 5 have joined in Mitt Romney’s march to the White House.

…[T]he biggest criticism is that the wealthy Romney family can’t understand the economic challenges facing the average American family. The sons insist their family and their father are not out of touch.

“We’ve obviously been very blessed,” Craig said, “And because of that we feel a responsibility to make sure we can do everything we can to make this country as great as it can be.”

His [Gov Romney] true identity will come out and we know what a great father he is, we know how much he loves the country, we know how much he loves our kids,” Matt said, “It’s not ambition that’s driving him. It is really a desire to give back, and this is how he thinks he can give back. And we agree.”

The magnificent five (To view fullscreen, click on ‘options’.) :

Romney brothers describe each other in one word:

It’s clear Mitt and Ann did a wonderful job of raising their sons. They each bring their own strengths to this well-rounded, service-oriented family. It’s always great to see them, their wives, and children at various campaign events.

What a moment it will be to see all of them on the stand at the August RNC convention when Governor Romney is officially declared the Republican presidential nominee!

Pawlenty NH Steering Committee Member, State Rep Shaun Doherty, Resigns to Help Mitt Romney

Pawlenty’s loss, Romney’s gain…

DROPPING PAWLENTY

State Rep. Shaun Doherty, R-Pelham, says he still likes and respects GOP presidential candidate and former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, but he’s frustrated with the lack of New Hampshire activity by his campaign.

As a result, Doherty told the Granite Status, he’s resigned from Pawlenty’s New Hampshire steering committee and has decided to back former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney.

Doherty was one of the original eight Granite Staters named to the Pawlenty steering committee in April.

He said today that since then, he’s shown up at some events and has called friends and his own supporters on Pawlenty’s behalf, but has not been asked to do anything specific by the campaign.

“I have an enormous amount of respect and admiration for Tim Pawlenty,” said the 23-year-old second-term lawmaker, who four years ago was the state youth chairman for John McCain’s New Hampshire campaign.

“The campaign hasn’t really developed into what I thought it would develop into,” Doherty said. “They’re doing a lot of really good things but it doesn’t seem to be working. And their not quite capitalizing on the momentum that they had with their launch.

They haven’t capitalized on their opportunities. It just hasn’t developed.”

Doherty said Romney “is running a very strong campaign in New Hampshire and I feel I’d like to participate in that campaign.”

Pawlenty has not been to New Hampshire since the June 13 presidential debate, spending almost all of his time in first-caucus state Iowa leading up to the Aug. 13 Ames, Iowa GOP presidential straw poll

“But that’s not the only real factor. There were a lot of small things,” he said.

Doherty is the second state House member to have expressed frustration with Pawlenty in the past week.

We spoke last week with Rep. Win Hutchinson, R-Manchester, who told us he briefly considered bolting the Pawlenty camp out of frustration with Pawlenty’s initial comments about Michele Bachmann’s migraine headaches, but then reconsidered and decided to stay on board, at least for now.

(my emphasis)

Welcome aboard, Shaun!

MRC Expresses Gratitude for 3,000+ Facebook Fans

gratitudeHello Fans! On this Thanksgiving morning we here at MRC have much to be thankful for. Having garnered over 1,000 Facebook fans in just the last two weeks shows us that the people haven’t lost sight of that freedom which Pilgrims sought long ago, nor have they forgotten what it will take to preserve it. Grateful we are, to know that there is still passion amongst the good people in this country; passion that continues to unite us behind a good man. We trust that this emerging leader will restore civility, ethics, responsibility, and sound judgment to Washington. In our attempt to bring this to pass, let us share our passion with those that are left with a fading hope – let us do all we can do to share the message of a ‘free and strong‘ America.

Just a few days ago we were going to do a ‘Race for 2012′ competition between our Facebook fans and our Twitter followers. The object would have been to see which social networking site could reach 2012 supporters faster than the other. Unfortunately (or much to our excitement), when we went to host the competition the very next day, both sites had far surpassed 2012 fans/followers! Just goes to show that the word is spreading fast… people are getting behind the man and the cause!

What can you do to help?
