Congressman Paul Ryan, Janna, & Family, Thank You!

A magnificent choice…

It was an exciting day when we learned Mitt Romney had chosen Congressman Paul Ryan to be his Vice Presidential running mate. Serving as the House Budget Committee Chairman, we knew of Paul’s reputation for hard work, excellence, and leadership. We knew he was serious about getting government spending under control.

It was a true pleasure getting to know Paul and his wonderful family better as they accepted the call to help Governor Romney restore America.

What a journey!

Mitt Romney: A Personal Perspective From Texas

With your indulgence, below is a personal perspective from our daughter in Texas.

In this election cycle, she and a few friends started, SWARM (Smart Women Against Rampant Media) as a response to our oft-times biased media. To quote them, “We are a group of women who are deeply concerned for our nation. We reject the media’s deceptive messages and seek truth wherever it is found. We are mobilizing to ensure the success of our country! Please join us! We’ve heard it said that bad things happen when good people do nothing… We can do this together. Help us take back our country!” You can follow them on Facebook here, or on their blog, Women for Truth, here. Their advocacy for truth is commendable and hopeful that it becomes a standard for many.

I have posted Leslie’s recent Facebook entreaty, as I believe it is reflective of many of the American voters who support Mitt Romney, and succinctly sums up how many feel. Pictured are her two boys.

I want to thank my Facebook friends for respectfully supporting (or quietly ignoring) my vocal support of Governor Romney during this election season. I appreciate the lack of severe and bitter words and have enjoyed the civil and enlightening conversations that have been spurred by this amazing thing we call democracy!

I have had the opportunity to meet Mitt Romney on a couple of occasions. Years ago, he complimented me on my cute baby and his name (win), and once, not so long ago, I even ate dinner sitting immediately next to him. I watched him eat his salad, you guys. :) I know that Mitt Romney is only running for president because of a genuine, deep, and abiding love which he has for this country. He truly wants to serve the American people. He has been blessed in his life, his family is amazing, his business success speaks for itself, and he feels that he owes something big to this country where he was able to create such a wonderful life. That is what he told me (and others) that night. He sought the advice of the people in that room. He wanted to know what my concerns were as a stay-at-home mom. He is humble. He is aware of the down-trodden and the needy and wants to help them effectively. He supports mothers and working women. He prays and acknowledges that we are all children of God. He is the real deal, and I am so proud to support him with my vote.

My family has supported Mitt since 2007 (see photo of my baby boys below)! We have been on Mitt’s team through thick and thin, we have taken hits with Mitt for our common beliefs, we have supported him and Ann, we have prayed for him and for our country, and it seems so surreal to me that tomorrow is the big day. I have voted for Mitt so many times, and I am so proud to have cast my vote for him again, here in Texas.

Whatever the outcome is tomorrow (or next week or whenever this ends), I know that all will be well. I trust a loving Heavenly Father and I know that because of His love for me and because of the love of my Savior, Jesus Christ, my family will be blessed no matter who is President. I feel peace because of that knowledge. America is a blessed land; there is no doubt.

My speech is almost over. Mitt’s words tonight. He is asking for my vote as he asks for yours! “Our children will graduate into exciting careers that are worthy of their qualifications. Our seniors will be confident that their retirement is secure. Americans will have good jobs, good pay, and good benefits. Our veterans will come home to a bright future. We will have confidence that our lives are safe and our livelihoods are secure.

If you are ready for that kind of change — if you want this to be a turning point in America’s course — join us and vote Tuesday for the kind of leadership that these times demand.

This is the most important election of our lifetime — and every vote counts. We are hours away from the better future America deserves.”

Go MITT!

Building America One Small Biz at a Time (Click to view larger image)

Meet My Family: by Carrie Yost

Meet my family. Each us are entrepreneurs. Most of us have several employees.

We wanted to share our message, simple as it may be, to potential voters in the upcoming election. Obama’s regulations and impending ObamaCare tax have killed many small businesses like us. When we built our small companies it was with great hope and desire that America would be for us, what it was for our parents… A land of promise and free enterprise. What we see now as young business entrepreneurs, is a bleak future filled with uncertainty.

We plead with the voters of the United States to realize that small companies like ours, are the framework of this nation and employ millions upon millions of Americans. If we continue to fail, so do all Americans. As a family we implore you realize the consequences of this election. Businesses like ours have struggled to keep our doors open for the past four years, we can’t be sure they will last another four under the current administration. Please Vote for the man who will EMPOWER small business, who UNDERSTANDS small business, who REALIZES our potential for good in America.

As a family, we have all undergone immense amounts of risk to start these companies, worked twice as long as the average American to get them off the ground, sometimes not taking a paycheck to make sure our employees are covered before our own needs are met. But even with all that work, we cannot succeed with a government who continues to take the revenues we need to invest and grow our companies. Let us grow, let us offer Americans more opportunities for employment.. allow us pay our employees better. Everyone wins when we have a thriving private sector, and that’s a truth that we know Romney/Ryan understand.

Our family proudly stands with Mitt.

Please join us.

Amid Autumn’s Heated Campaign, Do Romney/Ryan Families Find Time to Chill?

With the Romney’s attending church today in Belmont, MA and the Governor spending time preparing for Tuesday’s presidential debate, I thought it might be relaxing for Romney/Ryan supporters to look back on the week. Let’s see if the Romney and Ryan families are finding time amid the heated campaign to enjoy October, a bit of Mother Nature’s beauty, and just chill…

Kick off your shoes and take your time.

Here’s an autumn Romney/Ryan photo essay

Ann Romney, bundled up to stay warm, took a detour on the way from Hudsonville, Michigan to the Detroit suburb of Franklin to visit the Peanut Shop in downtown Lansing. She bought some trick-or-treat goodies including cashews and cinnamon almonds she said were Mitt’s favorite. She also picked up some ‘sour jelly pumpkins’ for the grandchildren. Yum! Paul Ryan Accepts VP Nod, Gives Speech That Rocks the House [Video & Transcript]

Historic. I will forever cherish the memory of being present in the arena when Paul Ryan, our VP nominee, gave an electric speech to a very excited and enthusiastic crowd in Tampa. I am extremely doubtful that Romney could have picked a better candidate to be his running mate. My brother, there with me in the arena, summed up his feelings in this very apt tweet:

By the way, that VP debate is on Thursday, October the 11th. Better start popping that popcorn now.

Today marks one week since Congressman Paul Ryan was named as Mitt Romney’s running mate. Curiosity about the next potential vice president of the USA has skyrocketed since the announcement. FOX News’ Greta Van Susteren devoted the full hour of her program last night to learning more about Paul Ryan. Reporter Griff Jenkins also contributed.

America’s First Sons? A Look at Tagg, Matt, Josh, Ben, & Craig Romney

Governor Mitt Romney and his five sons:
(left to right) Craig, Ben, Tagg, The Gov, Josh, and Matt.

They could become America’s first sons…

Mitt and Ann Romney’s five sons are known for their indefatigable help during the last presidential primary process (remember the Five Brothers’ Blog and MittMobile?), their loyalty, their good looks, and their love of competition. Busy as they are this time around, whenever possible, they’re quick to hop on the campaign trail to lend a hand in any way.

NBC’s Peter Alexander got them together for an interview airing on ‘Rock Center’ this Thursday, July 19th (10PM-9central):

Ranging in age from 31 to 42, their names are Craig, Ben, Josh, Matt, and Tagg

Just like any group of brothers, they like to pick on each other, even during their first sit-down interview of the 2012 campaign. They say Josh, the middle son, is the mama’s boy.

“Thanks guys. Let’s take it easy here,” replied Josh, one of three Romney sons who works in real estate. Another son is a doctor. The eldest runs a private equity firm like their father once did.

They are all married and have a combined total of 18 children. If Romney wins, he’ll have more grandkids than any sitting president in U.S. history.

The Romney boys grew up in Belmont, Massachusetts where the work and service ethic was instilled in them, as well as having fun together. They later all attended Brigham Young University (as did their parents). Three continued on to receive MBA’s from Harvard (like The Gov) and another attended Tufts University School of Medicine and University of Utah School of Medicine.

…[W]hen it came to Romney’s second run for the White House, four of his five boys didn’t want him to run.

“I didn’t want him to run again. I really didn’t,” Matt said, “I thought you know, you gave it your best shot in 2008, you felt like you had to do it, you had to go and give back to the country and you tried, and they didn’t take you, so let’s move on.”

Matt and the others eventually came around. And again the Romney 5 have joined in Mitt Romney’s march to the White House.

…[T]he biggest criticism is that the wealthy Romney family can’t understand the economic challenges facing the average American family. The sons insist their family and their father are not out of touch.

“We’ve obviously been very blessed,” Craig said, “And because of that we feel a responsibility to make sure we can do everything we can to make this country as great as it can be.”

His [Gov Romney] true identity will come out and we know what a great father he is, we know how much he loves the country, we know how much he loves our kids,” Matt said, “It’s not ambition that’s driving him. It is really a desire to give back, and this is how he thinks he can give back. And we agree.”

The magnificent five (To view fullscreen, click on ‘options’.) :

Romney brothers describe each other in one word:

It’s clear Mitt and Ann did a wonderful job of raising their sons. They each bring their own strengths to this well-rounded, service-oriented family. It’s always great to see them, their wives, and children at various campaign events.

What a moment it will be to see all of them on the stand at the August RNC convention when Governor Romney is officially declared the Republican presidential nominee!

Knock Out Punch – Conservative’s Plea

Leadership and Perspective

Recently a few of those in conservative circles have been calling upon Mitt Romney to lay a knock-out punch on Obama, believing that the timing is right with the Supreme Court ruling and Obamacare. They further perceive weakness in the Romney team, which has not been as assertive as they might want in this regard, and consequentially the team needs an overhaul or shake-up. There is no question that a certain weakness exists in Obama because of Obamacare. To some degree, within the recent Supreme Court ruling and public animus toward Obamacare there is a window to capitalize upon. Even so, as to weakness in Obama, take your pick! Fortunately or unfortunately for us, there are many points of weakness in Obama: detachment; failed leadership; foreign policy (or lack thereof); security leaks; unbridled spending; obviation of Constitutional checks and balances through imperious edict and czars; Fast and Furious; immigration; burdensome debt and consequential intergenerational theft; lack, or undermining of trade policy; undermining of religious freedoms; abandonment of fundamental American values wherein he has undermined our social fabric by not defending marriage, family and life; failed economic and job policies; attempted purchasing of society; overburdensome and oppressive regulation, just to list a few. Appreciating the many conservative voices in the mix and the want to take out Obama now, we must recognize in our want for instant gratification that it is a process – a week is a lifetime in politics. If we can glean anything from history, within the political process, campaigns will experience innumerable ups and downs – and a week does not necessarily make or define a campaign – perspective.

Notwithstanding the dynamics of the process, the key constant and stratagem of a successful campaign must remain in a critically focused message, appreciating the want for static knock-out punches along the way. If there is any measure attributable to Mitt Romney and his team, it is focus, focus and focus! This does not presuppose the campaign should not and will not be agile and responsive to attacks or opportunities as they arise. However, amid the commotion and voices from the right or left the message is and remains, the economy! With the recent employment statistics and those that are sure to follow in the ensuing months, the economy will continue to be the key catalyst for change on November 6th.

Parenthetically, an interesting metaphor that harkens my thoughts and further applies to the commotive voices – when Israel was victorious over Egypt in the 6-day war. Notwithstanding the breadth of its border with Egypt, Israel’s strategy was to identify Egypt’s weakest point, line up its tanks and penetrate the border and then disperse. It was an elegant strategy for victory. The Romney team has similarly identified Obama’s weakest point (much to the suffering of America), the economy, and is laser focused on its message.

Surely, there will be many voices – Obama, his campaign and PR machine chief among them, that will seek to distract the message away from the economy and Obama’s record. Whether it is immigration, Mitt Romney’s character and personal wealth, 99:1 and class warfare, Obamacare or whatever, Romney’s campaign needs to keep its primary focus on the catalyst for change, the economy and jobs. People in America are ‘tired’ and ‘suffering’ and unlike Obama, Mitt gets it.

Mitt Romney has assembled a great team whose depth and resources are second to none. As the general election cycle continues, the team will continue to expand as was recently announced with Kevin Madden being elevated in his role, or as resources are culled and called upon for the evolving campaign dynamics and/or the Vice Presidential candidate. Gratefully, we have a candidate and support team that understands the process and is earnestly steadfast in what matters. They listen, gather data, adapt, and press forward with purpose in the message. What is the phrase – too many chefs in the kitchen spoil the broth? I am just saying… With so many passionate, interested and influential voices speaking simultaneously, and further compounded with the Obama campaign and public relations machine, the Romney campaign must remain adherent to a clarion voice of purpose, message and focus. Can they do better in communicating the message with clarity and passion? Yes. Does it require a shake-up and overhaul? No. Will the campaign be sufficiently agile in drawing upon needed, adaptive and experienced resources? Yes.

Our anxieties and wants to get Obama out now can encumber and cloud our perspective, especially if we allow it to seep into the cracks of our faith, or our understanding of ‘enduring’ campaigns. Gratefully and confidently, Romney has been sufficiently steeled in his experience to have the wisdom necessary to filter the voices of commotion; and is further endowed with the key leadership capacities to listen and guide his campaign and our country to victory in November. To paraphrase Ann Romney, with Mitt Romney the country wins, with Barack Obama, we lose!

Appreciating the quarterbacking from so many and the need to express critically constructive opinion, now is the time to stand as one, unified and aligned with Mitt Romney, that we might take back America and restore our economy and freedoms; he remains our hope for America’s future. Even so, as we are wont to offer constructive thoughts, we must do so with consideration for Obama’s PR machine and how they might seek to use our commentary as a further divide to fracture our party and nation. Without any doubt, now is the time to raise our voices with purpose and measure! Now is the time to draw upon the strength of America and Americans, coalescing all interests behind Mitt Romney to take back what we have lost in the Obama Era – restoring freedom, liberty, our economy and America’s exceptionalism.

‘Romney for President’ Releases Video for Multiple Sclerosis Day: ‘Soul Mate’

Today, Romney for President released a new web video, Soul Mate. On World Multiple Sclerosis Day, Ann Romney and her family share their thoughts on her struggle with the disease. Ann and her sons also recount Mitt’s undying support to the woman he calls his “soul mate.”

This video is a very small, but revealing, window into the courage of Ann Romney and the unwavering strength of the Romney’s marriage and family.

Ann has said, if she should become our next First Lady, MS awareness would be one of the issues she would promote.

My heart goes out to all who suffer from this disease.
