Senior Staffers vs Traveling Press Corps
Taking a quick break from presidential debate preparations, Mitt Romney today donned a t-shirt and shorts to cheer on a bit of friendly beach brouhaha. Spirits were high and Secret Service personnel dotted the beach as reporters, who cover Romney on the campaign trail, and senior staffers were getting set to kick up some sand in a game of flag football on Florida’s beautiful Delray Beach.
“Let’s see; look at the captain. Gail’s a captain, is that right? Got a bracelet for you. This is a “Clear eyes, full heart, America can’t lose, all right?” Romney said to Gail Gitcho, his communications adviser.
“Ashley’s a captain. There ya go, look at that,” Romney said to The New York Times Ashley Parker.
“There ya go; shake hands, shake hands,” Romney told Gitcho and Parker.
Gitcho and Parker shook hands, and then Romney asked Parker if she was going to call the flip in the air.
“You’re going to call it really? You want it to hit the ground?” he asked her.
“You can catch if you want,” Parker said.
Romney decided to throw it up and let it drop. Parker called tails, and after searching for the coin in the sand, Gitcho found it and announced that it was tails.
“Tails it is! That’s the last call you guys are getting,” Romney good-heartedly declared.
Before the game started, Romney looked over his team and and jocularly added “Where’s Chris Christie when we need him? He’s our line.”
Romney, who regularly plays football with his family, watched the first play of the game. Then, with less than 48 hours to go until the third and final debate showdown with Obama, headed off to get back to prepping.
Guess who showed up during the course of the game? Mom-to-five-boysAnn Romney. She got in the mix and threw the touchdown that tied the game! Atta girl!

What a powerhouse!
New Jersey Republican Governor Chris Christie flew yesterday into crucial swing-state Virginia to rock the vote for Romney/Ryan. The crowd gathered at Ball Office Products in Richmond were given a walloping treat. After Romney’s VA campaign manager, Lieutenant Governor Bill Bolling warmed up the crowd, Christie owned the lectern.
A few highlights (and there were many!):
Christie said the message he got coming out of the Democrat’s National Convention was – their words – “Government is the only thing we all belong to.” He replied that even in blue state New Jersey, “We were taught we don’t belong to government; the government belongs to us.”
The New Jersey Gov also reminded listeners of another recent belief Obama revealed: “You can’t change Washington D.C. from the inside.” Christie asked, “If he really believes that, then what the he*# is he doing asking for another four years?” He says Obama is asking for another four years to figure it out. His response to Obama’s plea? “You know what, Mr. President? I’m tired of waiting for you to figure it out!”
He’d [Obama] never run anything in his life. And so the President doesn’t know how to lead. I mean watch what he’s been like for the past four years. He’s like a man wandering around a dark room, hands up against the wall, clutching for the light switch of leadership, and he just can’t find it. And, he won’t find it in the next 18 days! Blindly, blindly, walking around the White House… looking for a clue – looking for a clue.”
And you, know, the unfortunate thing for the President is this – is that there are clues everywhere – if he’d just open his eyes.
America, are you listening? Kick back and SOAK THIS UP:
I heard the President the other night in the debate say “Governor Romney says that I want a bigger government and that’s just not true. (laughter) Well, Governor Romney is not the guy who has run up SIX TRILLION dollars in new debt in four years as president. Governor Romney is not the one that has created new boards, commissions, czars, all over government that he’s paying millions and millions and millions of dollars to of our money to try and manipulate more and more things in the private economy, to try to get his desired result. And let me tell ya, Mitt Romney is not the guy who is looking to take money away from hard-working Americans and redistributing it across the country based on the government’s plan. He thinks the American PEOPLE should be able to decide how to spend their own money – not the government.
A few Sundays ago, before the first debate, Governor Romney asked me to go on all those Sunday morning shows for him. And you might remember back then, a couple of days before the first debate, the campaign wasn’t flying high. People were feeling a little nervous about how the campaign was going and what the last month of the campaign would look like. So they asked me to go on all those shows and deal with all those feisty hosts. (laughter) I don’t know why they picked me. (laughter and applause) And, so they asked me – Bob Schieffer, George Stephanopoulos, David Gregory – they all asked me “Well, what’s gonna happen, Governor Christie, on Wednesday at the debate, what’s gonna happen at Governor Romney’s campaign? How can it possibly turn around? Isn’t the race really over?” And I said to them, “You wait. You wait until Wednesday night ‘cuz Mitt Romney is gonna win that debate and turn this race UPSIDE DOWN. “
“Mitt Romney is better prepared, smarter, and more ready for the presidency , and I knew he’d show ‘em that in those debates and he sure did!”
NJ Gov Chris Christie ditched his suit jacket and launched into facts about Obama’s lack of leadership and praise for Mitt Romney in front of the crowd at Ball Office Products in Henrico county, Richmond, VA. Oct 19,2012 (Photo – Jim Nolan:Time)
@21:48 Christie quotes John Adams:
John Adams was near his death and this is what he wrote in his diary – and he wrote it for us, he wrote it for us. And, this is what he said: “You shall never know the sacrifices that we have made to secure for you your liberty. Make a good use of it. For if you do not, I shall repent in heaven for ever having made the sacrifices at all.”
Christie challenged voters in Virginia to to give an hour a day for the remaining days leading up to and including November 6th to preserve our constitutional freedoms and help Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan win. Contact Romney Campaign Headquarters in Virginia. Christie’s call to take our country back applies to all of us. Will YOU give an hour a day to preserve liberty? Can you do more? Please help us promote this information far and wide before Monday’s debate. (Thank You!)
Count on it: Before Monday night’s last presidential debate, the Obama administration and/or the State Department will release new information surrounding the attack in Benghazi, Libya in a desperate attempt to alter the truth: That their combined efforts for a month to cover-up the fact they could have prevented the assassination of an American ambassador and three other great Americans. And the fact they all knew on September 11th the attack was a pre-planned, sophisticated, terrorist attack. The desecration of Camp David has only just begun this weekend.
The history we are witnessing right now will go down in American legacy as far more serious than anything related to the Watergate scandals. Nixon’s web of deceit was bad. Obama’s is obscene! The stain he is leaving on the Office of President is deplorable. The intelligence community is only now beginning to expose Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton after they falsely and repeatedly blamed the intelligence community for promoting the “movie-trailer video” narrative.
We at MittRomneyCentral know that most of our viewers prefer brief videos. However, I believe the following video contains crucial information every American should see and understand. For if they were to take it all in, not one American voter would ever vote for Mr. Obama. Not one.
THANK YOU to Bret Baier for this comprehensive investigative reporting! If you wish to only watch the portion of video where the Obama administration’s deceit and cover-up began, see the minute descriptions outlined below the video.
I believe Bret Baier’s powerful investigative reporting is important to view from beginning to end. However, if your time is limited, you may want to start at one of these points below and watch the entire piece later:
Beginning to minute 21:55: Actual videos, photographs, interviews, and illustrations of what actually occurred at the consulate September 11th (Warning: some of the footage is graphic)
Minute 22:00: The Cover-Up Begins
Minute 29:15: October 8th, almost one month after the attack, we see Obama actually reveal his main message and reason for the cover-up. He is desperate to prove that he has vanquished terrorism altogether; that al Qaeda’s threat is waning. In fact, the threat of terrorism is advancing! Mr. Obama’s naked hubris in the face of obvious brazen deceit is nothing short of spectacular!
Minute 33:58: The election…The campaigns…Governor Romney calling President Obama out in front of 60+ million Americans in his courageous duty to expose the cover-up!
We must all do out best to expose President Obama’s deceit. Time is so limited now.
For those that are just getting to know Governor Romney or who have not had time to read his books or study his past deeply, you need to understand a very important fact about this man: Mitt Romney knows more about radical Islamic terrorism than any person to ever seek the presidency of the United States. I believe that when he is elected and in office, he will be the most prepared president to face the intense, growing threat of terrorism than any previous person to occupy the Oval Office. Look it up for yourself.
We all contemplate Monday night’s debate on foreign policy. In the last three weeks, Barack Obama and Joe Biden blamed the intelligence community for “the movie trailer” narrative for a “spontaneous” attack on the Benghazi consulate. How long did you think it would take the CIA and other intelligence sources to correct the record on such a blatant lie? Did Mr. Obama really think we Americans are all so dumb as to believe such nonsense?
In one word, “yes.”
But why? An absolutely crucial element of Mr. Obama’s campaign theme is that al-Qaeda has been largely decimated and rendered ineffective. Why? Because Barack Obama killed Osama bin Laden. Following the flawed logic, Americans are to conclude the threat of radical Islamic terrorism is no more. We will therefore give all the credit to Mr. Obama by granting him four more years in The White House.
Mr. Obama: We know your game. We have seen this act before. You can go hide out at Camp David this weekend to spin another web of tales for Monday. We will never forget those who have sacrificed their lives for America.
As we all contemplate Monday’s debate and the authority granted each one of us on November 6, 2012, please watch this short video, especially at second 0.35 when Bill Clinton speaks for Mr. Obama. Bill Clinton’s shameless and disgusting revelation perfectly defines this president and his character:
“Horrible for him”? How reprehensible! But it is all the more “in character” after Mr. Obama’s unemotional and insensitive comments regarding the deaths of four great Americans on 9/11/12 as not “optimal.”
Mr. Obama’s “optimal” reality will be stark the evening of November 6th.

November’s election will likely come down to how people feel about the candidates…what their gut tells them.
Unfortunately for the president, jobs numbers and anemic economic growth continue to be, as Mitt Romney has put it, a continual “kick in the gut.” Despite finally pulling to even compared to when he came into office at 7.8% unemployment, after taking into account everyone who stopped working due to Obama discouragement, the unemployment rate would now be over 10%. Not acceptable.
In addition, it’s clear Obama just doesn’t get it when it comes to job creation. At Tuesdays’ debate he kept incredulously saying Mitt’s tax plan didn’t work because it contained trillions in cuts (that Mitt says aren’t even accurate), and he doesn’t understand how they’re paid for. Is anyone surprised Obama just doesn’t understand? It’s clear from his record. Why should we be surprised he scratches his head when looking at Mitt’s plan? Mitt knows: cutting taxes will help create jobs. It worked for Reagan. Paul Ryan pointed out it worked for Kennedy. It’ll work for President Romney.
If you think President Obama is a friend to the middle class, and you have a job, congratulations, you’re in better shape than many. But you need to watch this video from back in April to understand just what will happen to you under Obama’s planned tax increases. Not just for the wealthy, but everyone.
President Obama’s response to anemic job growth? Raise taxes. Apply leaches to the patient of the economy. As the growth of the economy has been slower the longer he’s been president, he’s still said he’s taken “step[s] in the right direction.” Tiny steps, getting shorter.
It makes me wonder, after all of President Obama’s attempts to label Mitt Romney as a job outsourcer or out-of-touch rich guy, who is the real friend of the middle class? Even if President Obama is really trying, nothing he’s doing is working. Past reports have said the Obama recovery ranked dead last in modern times, at that time ten out of ten for both jobs and economic growth. I haven’t found an updated report, but I understand growth has slowed, not improved, since. During the period measured, jobs had grown only 4.1% since the recession’s low point. Reagan’s record during the same period was 10.7%. So it’s not like it can’t be done. It’s been done before.

Amid tuxedoed, evening toggery, Governor Mitt Romney handily charmed the audience at the 76th annual Alfred E. Smith Memorial Foundation Dinner tonight at the Waldorf Astoria hotel in New York. In the tradition of the yearly white tie, ‘roasty’ charity fundraiser for Catholic charities, Romney garnered great laughs poking fun at himself and President Obama. Throughout most of the evening, only host Cardinal Timothy Dolan separated Mitt and Ann Romney from Obama.
The event was a refreshing pause from the nitty-gritty election grind.
Romney’s timing and delivery were perfect. See for yourself:

Things are jumping in swing-state Ohio!
For the first time this campaign season, Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice hit the campaign trail yesterday for Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan. At a packed college sports stadium in Berea, Ohio, just outside of Cleveland, Senator Rob Portman pumped up the crowd while introducing Rice. She spoke of the pivotal crossroad our country is now at and, how her service as Secretary of State enabled her to see how important America’s role is in the world. Following her inspirational remarks, VP candidate Paul Ryan gave a rousing speech to the enthusiastic crowd.
Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice:
“I’m here because I want, like you, to see this country prosper, to see this country continue to be a place of unlimited opportunity, to see this country lead the world toward prosperity, and liberty, and peace. And so, I’m here to support Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan in this quest.”
“This is a pivotal time in our country’s history.”
The last four years have been very tough on folks who just want to work hard and make a living. … Many Americans out of work wonder if they’re ever going to work again and, you know, they have reason to [worry] because the longer you’re out of work, the less likely you are to find a job. And so, when Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan say they’re going to put this country back to work – THIS IS AN URGENT CALL – not one for which we can wait another four years.”
After the event, Ryan, Rice, and Portman toured the Cleveland Browns football training facility.

Taking a cue from the Biden playbook, Barack Obama pulls a face and acts like he’s going to spring from his chair as Mitt Romney makes a point at the presidential debate held at Hofstra University in Hempstead, NY on Oct 16, 2012. (photographer unknown)
The presidential debate action at Hempstead, New York, is in the can…
There were tense moments.
Pundits and politicians will be talking for days about the ‘terrorism’ Libya moment – the one where Obama water carrier moderator Candy CNN Crowley interrupted Mitt Romney to side with Obama by injecting her jaw-dropping version of fact-checker. Cutting off the Governor, she sided with the President on remarks he claimed he made in the Rose Garden the day after the attack on our consulate in Benghazi, Libya. Obama said he labeled the attacks as “terror” right away. After the Crowley butt-in, Obama then called from way back on his stool for Crowley to repeat her “fact” louder. Turns out, Obama and Crowley have nothing to crow about:
Democratic strategist Joe Trippi later said on FOX News that it looked like “the ref just threw the flag.”
After the debate, Crowley, who repeatedly cut Romney off, and when all was said and done, bequeathed Obama with 3 minutes and 14 seconds more speaking time than the Governor, tried to back off. She conceded that Romney was “right in the main.”
There’s so much I want to say about Ms. Crowley’s moderating, but I’ll constrain myself and just say she made a disgusting hash of it.
Someone else agrees with me:
Candy Crowley did have one good moment: when she addressed “President Romney” #NotAnError
The 82 voters in the town hall setting were chosen by Gallup and Candy Crowley selected the questions. Romney walked into a stacked game but didn’t back down. Voters saw him as someone with strength, leadership, and a common-sense plan to move America forward. Obama was aggressive, pulled a few Biden-style faces, did a lot of bluffing, and threw in some blaming. He offered NO plan.
No wonder Independent swing-voters like Mitt Romney.
With the Romney’s attending church today in Belmont, MA and the Governor spending time preparing for Tuesday’s presidential debate, I thought it might be relaxing for Romney/Ryan supporters to look back on the week. Let’s see if the Romney and Ryan families are finding time amid the heated campaign to enjoy October, a bit of Mother Nature’s beauty, and just chill…
Kick off your shoes and take your time.
