“Imagine what Barack can do in four more years!” Mrs. Obama Helping to Elect Romney?

Is Michelle Obama thinking about more vacations she can take if her husband gets four more years? (photographer unknown)

Well… How’s this for motivation to GET OUT THE VOTE for Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan?

Michelle Obama asked twitter users yesterday: “Imagine what Barack can do in four more years!”

I’ve been with Mitt Romney Central since its inception and I’ve never written an article about Michelle Obama. I didn’t write about the time Michelle said “For the first time in my adult lifetime, I am really proud of my country.” I didn’t utter a peep about the time when Michelle, confiding to then-First Lady of France, Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, on her own job as First Lady, supposedly said “It’s hell. I can’t stand it!” (Both later denied it.) Nothing from me regarding our First Lady’s aversion to placing her hand over heart when our national anthem is played. I’ve never pointed out the way the press hits Ann Romney for her clothing choices, but gives Michelle a pretty pass and plenty of praise. No keyboard clacking from me about the time Mrs. Obama went to a food bank wearing $540 sneakers. I didn’t mention the time Mrs. Obama inferred that a vote for Mitt Romney would cause women to die from cancer. I haven’t written about the way Michelle’s ‘Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act’ forces some school kids to go hungry. And, I didn’t post an article about Mrs. O’s speech at the Democratic National Convention in September – the fairytale she presented of her and Barack’s struggles.

Today, the First Lady’s tweet changed my mind.

Imagine what Barack can do in four more years?

Uh, Michelle, you’re killin’ me.

Maybe you’re thinking about what YOU can do with four more years.

Besides all the pricey trips to Martha’s Vineyard, Aspen, and Hawaii, remember in the summer of 2010 when the Obamas encouraged Americans to visit the oil-stricken Gulf Coast and then high-tailed it, lickety-split, for a family vacation in Maine? Remember how shortly after returning from Maine, Michelle Obama then jetted off for a private, closed-to-the-press, luxurious vacation in Spain? (To jog your memory, that was the time she took her youngest daughter and an entourage of long-time family friends and lounged at the ritzy Costa del Sol hotel.) Remember when she and her girls took off for a family vacation and within an hour, her husband followed. She wouldn’t wait for him so we got to pay for two jets!

Here’s the Obama three-and-a-half-years vacation list:

– President’s Day 2012, Michelle and the first daughters in Aspen, Colorado to ski.
– Christmas 2011, the first family in Hawaii for an extended vacation.
– Summer 2011, in Martha’s Vineyard, Mass., for the annual beach break.
– June 2011, the first lady, her mother and daughters traveled to South Africa and Botswana.
– President’s Day 2011, the first lady and first daughters travel to Vail to ski.
– Christmas 2010, in Hawaii.
– August 2010, the first family traveled to Panama City Beach, Fla., for sun and fun at the beach.
– August 2010, Obama spent the weekend alone in Chicago for his 49th birthday bash.
– August 2010, the first lady and daughter Sasha traveled to Spain for a mother-daughter vacation.
– August 2010, summer vacation again at Martha’s Vineyard.
– July 2010, the first family went to Mount Desert Island, Maine.
– May 2010, the first family had a four-day trip to Chicago.
– March 2010, first lady and daughter spend Spring Break in New York City.
– Christmas 2009, Hawaii again for the annual break.
– August 2009, at Yellowstone National Park and the Grand Canyon for a short vacation.
– August 2009, their first summer vacation as first family at Martha’s Vineyard, Mass.

Video montage of Mrs. Obama’s jolly jaunts at taxpayer expense:

Yeah, Michelle may have more chi-chi-foo-foo-taxpayer-footing-the-bill vacations on her bucket list.

It was a travesty the way the mainstream media made a big stink about the Romneys this past 4th of July for sharing their own paid-for jet ski with family and friends – at their home on Lake Winnipesaukee. Meanwhile, they’ve overlooked Michelle Obama’s love for lap-of-luxury vacations (which comes out of our penny-jingling pockets).

  • Speaking of expensive jaunts, here’s another point… There’s a stark contrast in how the Obama campaign pays its bills and how responsible and frugal Mitt Romney is – even down to the hotel accommodations he chooses. DO read more here.

  • Imagine what Barack can do in four more years? He’ll finish destroying the USA.

Here’s what a few other Americans think:

    (Hat tip / Twitchy)

  • What are Michelle Obama and her husband so proud of?

Their hubris over such a failed record makes one’s eyes bug out and shoot blood! I will not use my last-full-day-of-Romney-campaign energy to go into the havoc and destruction Mr. O has brought upon us. Here’s my summary:

No, Michelle. We don’t want to imagine what your husband can do with four more years! (By cartoonist Gary Varvel – Nov 4, 2012)

    PENNSYLVANIA!

The state has suddenly emerged as up-for-grabs and Governor Mitt Romney was there.

Tonight, in the cold and growing darkness, a behemoth crowd in Morrisville, PA, estimated between 20,000 – 30,000 waited for the chance to see Romney. In spite of the chilly air, the Governor and his wife, Ann, were greeted with lots of flag-waving, roaring enthusiasm, and fired-up energy. It was amazing!

    Romney Can Right Listing Ship

We urge our readers to cast their vote for Mitt Romney to be the next president of the United States.

We did not endorse then-junior Sen. Barack Obama four years ago as we felt he was unprepared and lacked the leadership and real-world skill sets vital for holding the most important office in the world.

    Our fears were correct.

Obama fell way short on his promise of hope and change. He learned the hard way, at America’s expense, that clever slogans and catchy phrases are no substitute for strategic plans that include party(s) buy-in, well-thought-out details, structure and accountability.

Indeed, America stands at critical crossroads for her future on Tuesday.

Mitt Romney is a former governor, a proven leader, with a successful record both in governing and in business. He understands the importance of free enterprise. He comprehends with perfect clarity that small businesses and entrepreneurs – not the government – are the drivers of a strong economy.

Romney believes a robust economy is the key to alleviating poverty and helping people become more self-reliant.

During this campaign, Romney laid out detailed plans for economic recovery, job growth and reducing the public debt, concepts painfully absent from Obama’s campaign.

Romney promises to unleash America’s energy resources like never before, ushering in a new era of energy independence. And our region will benefit greatly from that goal. Romney will halt Obama’s premeditated efforts to crush one of our area’s most precious job creators – the coal industry.

America yearns for a president who will unite us – not divide us.

One with vision, who will inspire, uplift and motivate.

America wants a president who will promote our national values abroad and not apologize for them – a leader who will hold up this great nation as the beacon of freedom that she remains.

Gov. Romney is that leader, and we urge our readers to cast their vote for a stronger America, by electing Mitt Romney as the next president of the United States.

Talk about exciting! If you live in Pennsylvania, click here to help. Anyone can help by making calls from home, too.

    Is anyone getting any sleep?!

Hurricane Sandy: Romney Campaign Bus in VA Will Deliver Supplies

Mitt Romney’s campaign bus in Arlington, VA will be used to deliver supplies to those affected in the area by Hurricane Sandy. Oct 28, 2012 (Photographer unknown)

Due to the impending threat from Hurricane Sandy, Governor Mitt Romney cancelled campaign events over the weekend scheduled to take place in Virginia and New Hampshire. He joined Congressman Paul Ryan on the campaign trail in swing-state Ohio. (For today’s events, click on our Mitt Calendar.) The Romney campaign is calling for emergency supply donations to be brought to his Victory offices in Virginia. Romney’s bus will used to deliver supplies to those affected by the hurricane in that area.

Tweets tell the story! (Included are messages from Emily Friedman, ABC producer/digital reporter covering Governor Romney’s campaign, Rachel Streitfeld, CNN political producer, also covering the campaign, and Mitt and Ann Romney):

Late last night, Romney also sent out the following email:

Tonight, Ann and I are keeping the people in Hurricane Sandy’s path in our thoughts and prayers.

I hope that if you can, you’ll reach out to your neighbors who may need help getting ready for the storm — especially your elderly neighbors. And if you can give of your resources or time, please consider supporting your local Red Cross organization — visit www.redcross.org to get involved.

For safety’s sake, as you and your family prepare for the storm, please be sure to bring any yard signs inside. In high winds they can be dangerous, and cause damage to homes and property.

I’m never prouder of America than when I see how we pull together in a crisis. There’s nothing that we can’t handle when we stand together.

    Stay safe and God Bless,

    Mitt Romney

UPDATE: Governor Romney has cancelled all campaign events for the remainder of today and tomorrow.

Thanks, Team Romney, for your leadership and taking action to help!

MRC is keeping those in the storm’s path in our thoughts and prayers.

VP Debate: Biden’s Bad-Mannered Buffoonery Blows It, Ryan Resolute

Vice President Joe Buffoonery Biden proved once again at last night’s vice presidential debate in Danville, KY, what an embarrassment he is for the United States of America. (photographer unknown)

With his derisive laughter, zombie eye-rolling, feigned incredulity, exaggerated theatrical gestures, continual interruptions, and over-all condescension, Vice Presidential smirk monkey Joe Biden negated any gains he hoped to make at last night’s V.P. debate. Biden’s performance sealed the deal for him… as the simpleton from Scranton and America’s permanent political huckster. Debate moderator, ABC’s Martha Raddatz, failed to control all-show Joe and left many yearning for Jim Lehrer.

Although GOP Vice Presidential candidate 42-year-old Rep Paul Ryan is 27 years younger than 69-year-old Biden, he was resolute, reassuring, and ready to take on the smart-aleck. Ryan was clearly the adult seated at the debate desk in Danville.

Polls from CNBC and CNN revealed Ryan won.

VIDEO: Romney Digital Director Zac Moffatt Discusses Online Strategy with TechCrunch

Mitt Romney’s Digital Director Zac Moffatt sat down with Greg Ferenstein at TechCrunch Disrupt Conference yesterday to discuss the Romney campaign’s digital strategy. Take a look:

Maybe you have to be a techie to enjoy it — but I found the conversation to be really interesting. There is a lot going on behind the scenes in the Romney digital operation that I wasn’t aware of.

As voters increasingly turn to the internet to get their information, it’s refreshing to see that the campaign has dedicated so many resources and bright minds to their digital efforts. Now it’s easy for folks to get info straight from the source and be empowered to share content from the campaign with their own networks.

Romney Brothers in Demand at GOP Convention: FOX & Friends, Megyn Kelly Interview, Speak to Delegates

While tropical storm Isaac churns across the U.S. Gulf Coast into what is expected to be a strong Category 1 or 2 hurricane, formal events cancelled at the GOP convention today in Tampa, FL, afforded a plethora of opportunities for politicians, politicos and attendees to mingle.

The Romney brothers, in full force at the convention, are in high demand. They were interviewed early this morning by FOX & Friends’ Steve Doocy AND also later appeared on FOX News’ America Live with Megyn Kelly.

Here’s the FOX & Friends interview (video of the Megyn Kelly interview is at the end of this article):

During the interview, a viewer tweeted a question: Describe your father using one word…

    Craig: “Qualified.”
    Ben: “Frugal.”
    Josh jokingly chimed in: “Cheap.”
    Matt: “Integrity.”
    Tagg: “Generous.”

With a changed convention schedule, breakfasts, luncheons, and state delegate meetings were the order of they day. Tagg, Matt, Josh, Ben, and Craig Romney fanned out to lend helping hands:

Tagg Romney spoke to Virginia delegates and was joined by Angelina Jolie’s father, movie star Jon Voight:

Actor Jon Voight, a longtime supporter of the GOP, is in Tampa speaking to delegates and hanging out with the Romney family.

Tagg Romney tweeted a photo of himself, Voight, Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah) and Julie Chaffetz addressing the Virginia delegation Monday morning.

Voight introduced Romney at the event and posed for pictures with delegates, according to sightings on Twitter.

The actor, the father of Angelina Jolie, also attended the 2008 Republican National Convention in Minneapolis.

And he has ties to vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan. In 2009, Voight attended a major GOP fundraiser in Washington, where he was introduced by the Wisconsin lawmaker.

One of the most courageous acts in our society today is to stand up in Hollywood and say you’re a conservative Republican,” Ryan said of the actor.

Aug 27, 2012 – After speaking to the Virginia delegation, this photo was taken: (left to right) Jon Voight, Tagg Romney, Julie Chaffetz (wife of UT Congressman Jason Chaffetz) , Jason Chaffetz

Voight also spoke with The Daily Caller and lambasted the mainstream media for being Obama’s lap dogs:

“The media has been taken over by this administration,” Voight, an outspoken Hollywood conservative, said in an interview with TheDC. “It’s not less than what has happened in Venezuela with Hugo Chavez, really, because you can’t get the information through. I’m giving you this because I want to get the press my opinion. You can put it in any way you want to. But, it’s become pure propaganda and we should be appalled.”

“I mean look at the main media is not going to cover the Republican convention?” Voight added as an example. “This is propaganda, pure and simply. They say, ‘well, we’ll give them an hour.’ They’ll edit an hour – well, what will they edit out? What is the story they will tell? Do you understand?”

Guys, you should be appalled,” Voight continued. “America, guys, wake up. You should be appalled that they can get away with it, that they can attack – the Republican Party is a victim of a bias, of a destructive bias against the Republican Party. It’s been going on for all this time and it’s getting worse and worse. And, now this? Come on, people, stand up.”

    Voight is courageous and correct.

Matt Romney was scheduled to address the Colorado delegation today (awaiting a report). He attended a Michigan delegate party last night in Tampa and his darling little daughter accompanied him. Here’s a photo of them at the get-together last night with MI Attorney General Bill Schuette:

Pictured: Matt Romney, his daughter, and MI Atty Gen Bill Schuette. Aug 26, 2012 – Tampa, FL

UPDATE – Matt Romney stresses his father “fixes things” before Colorado GOP delegation:

The friendly crowd of 36 delegates and 33 alternates and their guests reacted positively to Matt Romney’s description of his father as gifted in solving problems at several levels, from fixes around the house, to complex private equity deals with Bain Capital, to the elder Romney’s reformation of Salt Lake City’s hosting of the Winter Olympics.

He also touted Romney’s budget surpluses during his single term as the governor of Massachusetts.

Romney praised his father’s choice of fiscal hawk Rep. Paul Ryan, which drew big cheers from the crowd.

He called for the delegation to get out the vote in the swing state of Colorado, saying his father “believes like you do that we should not spend money we don’t have.

“That’s taxpayers’ money,” Matt Romney said. “That’s your money.”

After speaking to the Colorado delegation, Matt Romney spoke about his Dad with reporters:

Here’s how Josh Romney spent last night (tweet):

Great event tonight with WI and MS. Joined Reince Priebus, Haley Barbour, Scott Walker, Henry Barbour in welcoming delegates to FL

‘Omelets with Orrin’ was Josh’s destination this morning where he spoke to Utah delegates. The event was hosted by Senator Orrin Hatch:

TAMPA, Fla. — Mitt Romney will survive “that meat grinder called a presidential election” and win in November, Utah Sen. Orrin Hatch told members of the Utah delegation to the Republican National Convention at their first breakfast meeting Monday.

“I’m so proud of Mitt Romney,” Utah’s senior senator said at an “Omelets with Orrin” breakfast honoring his 36 years of service that included a rallying speech by Josh Romney, one of two Romney sons who lives in Utah.

Josh Romney, who lives with his family in Millcreek and has considered running for office in Utah, said the same enthusiasm voters had for Obama four years ago has been transferred to his father.

I have yet to meet someone who says, ‘I voted for (2008 GOP nominee Arizona Sen. John) McCain four years ago and this time, I’m going for Obama,’ “ Josh Romney said. “The same thing President Obama had four years ago, we’ve got it now.”

Ari Fleischer also spoke to the Utah delegates.

Ben Romney, the son we don’t get to see as often as the others due to his medical residency in radiology, spoke during a breakfast for the West Virginian delegates. Beth Myers, the capable force known for helping Governor Romney with his V.P. search, also attended.

Craig Romney had the microphone at a breakfast meeting for Michigan delegates:

Craig Romney… recalled for the Michigan delegation to the Republican National Convention a story about Mitt Romney’s character.

As Mitt Romney took control of the troubled 2000 Olympics in Salt Lake City, he wanted to generate excitement by including new events, including skeleton — an event “like the luge” but you go face first (down the track) at 80 mph, Craig explained.

The producers of the “Today” show offered to put Romney on the air with host Katie Couric to talk about turning around the scandal-laden Games, if he learned how to do the skeleton, Craig said of his dad, the presumptive GOP presidential candidate who’s to be nominated here this week.

So Romney recruited the eventual gold-medalist to coach him because he didn’t want to miss the opportunity to drum up support for the Olympics.

“You can imagine he was terrified. He’s not exactly a thrill seeker,” Craig Romney said of his father… “He eventually learned to do the whole track.

“People saw this guy will literally do anything, including risking his own personal health, to make the Games a success.”

Newt Gingrich also spoke to the MI delegates.

Craig, who speaks fluent Spanish, is also featured in a Spanish-language radio ad which was released today.

The Romney brothers weighed in on their Dad’s run for the White House with FOX News’ Megyn Kelly:

Mitt Romney did a morning run-through of his all-important convention speech today at a New Hampshire high school auditorium (I imagine Ann rehearsed her speech, as well.)

When asked by a reporter if he thought the convention should be cancelled due to the hurricane, Governor Romney responded:

“Our sons are already in Tampa and they say it’s terrific there, a lot of great friends. And we’re looking forward to a great convention[.]” …

He said he hoped those in the storm’s path would be “spared any major destruction” but indicated there were no thoughts of canceling the convention in Tampa, where Isaac’s heavy rain had all but passed.

Romney’s running mate, Congressman Paul Ryan, is flying to Tampa today.

The Romney sons are great ambassadors for their parents and Congressman Ryan.

What a grand sight it will be to see the ENTIRE Romney family and the Paul Ryan family on the convention stand this Thursday night!

Romney Makes Change: Madden Moved to Forefront

    Kevin Madden

    Make way for Madden!

Good news today from Team Romney…

Plans are underway to bump senior adviser Kevin Madden into a more visible role along the campaign trail – and I couldn’t be happier. I’ve often privately lamented that he hasn’t been more of a presence this time around to help Governor Romney. Many remember Madden as the smart, savvy, unflappable guy who helped The Gov during the 2008 presidential election cycle. He was a tremendous help back then in his official capacity as Romney’s National Press Secretary and Senior Communications Strategist.

    CNN:

The senior adviser in Romney’s presidential campaign will be traveling more with the presumptive Republican nominee and working more in the day to day messaging of the campaign, a source close to team Romney confirms to CNN.

Madden was national press secretary for the former Massachusetts governor’s 2008 bid for the White House, working out of the campaign’s Boston headquarters. This cycle Madden, who lives in the nation’s capital, has been working out of Washington, first as an informal adviser, and since April as a senior adviser to the campaign and the Republican National Committee.

Earlier Friday, a Romney campaign official responded to report in the Washington Post regarding staffing shifts within the organization by saying, “We are constantly growing the staff to be more effective in defeating Barack Obama.”

Madden is a Yonkers, New York guy; he currently resides in D.C. Here’s more of his impressive background:

Kevin Madden is Executive Vice President of Public Affairs of JDA Frontline, a public affairs firm with offices in Washington, D.C. and Charleston, S.C.

Prior to joining JDA Frontline, Mr. Madden was a Managing Director with The Glover Park Group, a leading public affairs firm based in Washington D.C.

Most notably, during the 2008 election cycle, Mr. Madden served as National Press Secretary and Senior Communications Strategist for Governor Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign.

Prior to joining Governor Romney’s campaign, Mr. Madden served as Press Secretary to then-House Majority Leader and now-House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio). In that capacity, Mr. Madden served as a top communications strategist for the House of Representatives leadership office charged with directing legislative action on a wide range of issues including financial services, energy, national security, legal reform, transportation and telecommunications policy among others.

Before his work as a top leadership aide on Capitol Hill, Mr. Madden served as the Department of Justice’s national spokesman on issues ranging from national security to litigation before the federal courts.

Kevin Madden is Executive Vice President of Public Affairs of JDA Frontline, a public affairs firm with offices in Washington, D.C. and Charleston, S.C.

Yes! Mark your calendar; Madden will be a guest tonight on CNN’s tv program Erin Burnett OutFront at 7:00 PM ET. And, don’t forget to follow him on Twitter.

I’ll be smiling all day today.

UPDATE - Did you miss seeing Madden on CNN with Ms. Burnett? Here it is:

Romney vs. Axelrod: A Tale of Two Pressers

I’m excited to mention that Rush read one of our MRC tweets on the air today. I’m not posting it here on the top because it’s part of this story. To see the tweet he read and hear the audio be sure to continue reading the story below. Thanks, Nate.

    —————————————————————————

Very interesting news today has many heretofore Romney-doubting GOPers taking courage in the swift, hard-hitting capabilities of the Romney campaign. Two “surprise” press conferences were held today, by Romney and Axelrod, but only one ended up being an actual surprise. Both were dominated by the Romney camp. These events happened early enough today that they were actually discussed on Rush and Hannity today, and will certainly make your evening news.

Part One: The Axelrod press conference

    • A surprise visit by Chief Obama strategist David Axelrod to Boston was publicly announced just last night. Purpose of his “presser”: Dis Romney’s record as Governor.
    • Oddly, the short notice is somehow enough time for CNN to arrange to have a live feed available. Team Romney springs into action to round up a large group of protesters armed with big signs, and chants.
    • Romney supporters are waiting on the steps of the capital building as Obama’s advance Team arrives to set up. (Pics below)
    • Throughout the presser attention is obviously stolen by protesters as they run through a series of chants including: Solyndra, Five more months, We want Mitt, Where are the jobs, Broken record, and more. Axelrod actually responds to protestors at one point with the phrase “You can’t handle the truth.”
    • Big win for Team Romney as news reports focus on the protestors rather than Axelrod’s anti-Romney message.

Part Two: Romney holds surprise press conference in front of Solyndra

    • On the other side of the country Team Romney has the entire press corp on a bus with Mitt on board as well. The press are told only that they are going to a secret location and they will be there in one hour.
    • Less than an hour after Axelrod’s presser ends CNN (and others) break news that Romney will hold press conference at Solyndra.
    • Mitt highlights the failure of Solyndra as a symbol of Obama’s administration and calls it a huge conflict of interest by Obama.
    • Conservatives in the blogosphere and on twitter cheer Team Romney for being two steps ahead of the competition

This is one of those days that is great for following news events on twitter. I will enclose only a small number of the great tweets, pictures and videos coming from today’s events. More below the fold.
