Romney on Obama’s Speech Tonight: Americans Want A Report On President’s Promises

From Concord New Hampshire today, Mitt Romney remarked on what Obama should say tonight…

President Obama needs to report on his promises (audio):

ROMNEY: “I actually think it will be interesting to listen to the President tonight. What I’d like him to do is report on his promises but there are forgotten promises and forgotten people. Over the last four years, the President has said that he was going to create jobs for the American people and that hasn’t happened. He said he would cut the deficit in half and that hasn’t happened. He said that incomes would rise and instead incomes have gone down. And I think this is a time not for him not to start restating new promises but to report on the promises he made. I think he wants a promises reset. We want a report on the promises he made. And that means let’s hear some numbers. Let’s hear 16. Sixteen trillion dollars of debt. This is very different than the promise he made. Let’s hear the number 47. 47 million people in this country on food stamps. When he took office, 33 million people were on food stamps. Let’s understand why it was he’s been unsuccessful in helping alleviate poverty in this country. Why so many people have fallen from the middle class into poverty under this president. Let’s have him explain to the American people the 50 percent number. Why 50 percent of college graduates can’t find work or work that is consistent with their college degree. The President needs to report tonight on his promises rather than try and reset a whole series of new promises that he also won’t be able to keep.”

Any chance we’ll hear those things from Obama?

Nah.

This is what we’re going to hear:

Romney on Democratic Convention: “So far, a celebration of failure” (VIDEO)

After learning of some of the distortions and lies slamming out of the first day of the Democratic National Convention, GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney today interrupted his debate prep to speak with FOX News’ chief political correspondent Carl Cameron.

Cameron characterized Romney as “chomping at the bit” to speak. The interview place took before Democrats this afternoon stunningly flip-flopped on removing ‘God’ and Jerusalem as the capitol of Israel in their platform. (‘God’ and ‘Jerusalem’ were restored; the vote took three times. Even then, the majority call was questionable.)

Cameron asked Mitt Romney specifically about the president’s recent comments giving himself an incomplete grade for his first term. Romney responded, “Incomplete usually means that you’ve got to go back and take the course again. I don’t think the American people want to see this president get another four years. The last four years have not been good for the middle class in America. There’s no question but that his policies have led to more people falling out of the middle class into poverty.”

Romney continued, “Those who think that they’re better off than they were four years ago, they may decide to vote for him, but the great majority of Americans, who recognize we’re not better off than we were four years ago, recognize his policies are not what is needed to get the middle class growing with more take-home pay and more jobs.”

Here’s Governor Romney (location was in an auto supply building in New Lebanon, New Hampshire):

Not one speaker at the Democrat convention has said Americans are better off today than they were four years ago. Another statistic they’re ignoring is when Obama took office, the number of Americans on food stamps was 32 million. Today, 47 MILLION Americans rely on food stamps. And, not a peep from them today about Obama’s latest staggering whoop-ti-doo accomplishment… America has passed the $16 trillion debt mark.

From the Democratic Natl Convention in Charlotte, NC…
By Glenn Foden – Sept 3, 2012

Obama isn’t an “incomplete” president, he’s disastrous (completely).

After listening last night to the angry, distorted rhetoric coming out of Charlotte, NC, it’s great to see Romney speak out today.

It’s also imperative we share this interview far and wide.

Under President Obama, GM and Chrysler DID go Bankrupt – Mitt Would’ve Saved US Billions

There is a lot of talk these days about the auto industry and American manufacturing, and rightly so. These are extremely important industries for our country. Afterall, Romney was the son of the late auto executive, George Romney, who turned around American Motors Corp. and made the company a major player on the world stage of auto manufacturing.

Mitt Romney has always expressed his great fondness for the auto industry as a direct result of his upbringing with his father. Mitt Romney is a self-described “car nut” and the notion that he wouldn’t have supported the auto industry through bankruptcy is simply preposterous.

Did Mitt Romney really say “Let Detroit Go Bankrupt”?

First, a quick but important side note. Mitt Romney didn’t actually write the title “Let Detroit Go Bankrupt” for his column in the New York Times, the editors at the paper did. Democrats like to pretend that Romney actually said those exact words but he did not.

Second, and more importantly, Romney knew that bankruptcy was the only way for General Motors to get rid of its excessive costs. In fact, Barack Obama often claims that he “saved the American auto industry” but even Barack Obama required the company to go through bankruptcy. Both Barack Obama and Mitt Romney knew that GM’s bankruptcy was inevitable and both men required GM to go through bankruptcy.

Americans are smart enough to realize that Mitt Romney, because of his upbringing, has a great love for the American auto industry and he would have supported it as it went through the bankruptcy process. The people of Michigan and Ohio are smart enough to know that Barack Obama pretends that he did something totally different from Mitt Romney but Obama also required GM to go through bankruptcy. The only difference is that Mitt Romney knew that bankruptcy was inevitable a year or so before Obama did.

It is interesting to note that George W. Bush actually started the auto bailouts and then Barack Obama expanded them.

What about manufacturing and how it relates to the auto industry?

The root of America’s difficulties in manufacturing come from a single source: China. It is widely known by both Democrats and Republicans that China is cheating on trade. China is intentionally suppressing the value of their goods and services so that they can undercut American industries by selling goods at a lower cost than American companies. China’s leaders have publicly admitted as much.

In 2007, Barack Obama promised that he would stop China’s predatory and unfair policies saying: “China has manipulated its currency for years in order to gain an unfair advantage over the United States on trade. Unfortunately the Administration has failed to effectively challenge or change China’s behavior.”

Another broken promise by Barack Obama. Obama’s soaring campaign rhetoric so rarely translates into actual deeds done. Unfortunately, Obama’s inability to address China has led to American manufacturing’s continued struggles against an unfair competitor.

Mitt Romney, on the other hand, has said that on his first day in office, he will label China a “currency manipulator.” His first day. Labeling China a currency manipulator is the strongest step America can take to help level the playing field against China and force them to change. Successfully labeling China as such would require the World Trade Organization to take action against China and its policies.

Obama has had four years to change China. He has been unable to bring about the change he promised. Mitt Romney has vowed to take the strongest step possible against China in order to help America’s manufacturers, including manufacturers associated with the auto industry.

Storm Damage: Pretty-words-Obama vs Make-it-happen-Mitt Romney

Mitt Romney listens to the concerns of a man affected by Hurricane Isaac in the damaged neighborhood of Lafitte, Louisiana on Friday, Augusts 31, 2012. (Photo – Justin Sullivan/Getty Images)

As the Democratic National Convention gets underway and Americans will be fed non-stop “OBAMA CARES” rhetoric, I just had to underscore one of the many differences between the two men running for the United States presidency. Here’s my point about sanctimonious Obama and get-it-done Mitt Romney:

Obama doesn’t care; finally tours storm damage
RedState
By Dan Spencer
September 3, 2012

President Obama finally arrived in Louisiana to inspect the damage done by Hurricane Isaac six days after the storm made landfall and three days after Mitt Romney inspected hurricane damage with Governor Bobby Jindal.

Romney got there three days earlier because he cared enough to skip a campaign rally in Virginia in order to inspect the damage done by Isaac. If Romney had not made the extra effort to visit Louisiana, does anyone seriously think Obama would have bothered to show up at all?

Obama couldn’t be bothered; making political hay was priority last week while the GOP National Convention was taking place. While storm Isaac raged, he glided into Colorado, Iowa, and Virginia to hold rallies:

Obama was too busy flying all over the country fundraising and campaigning to visit the storm damage. At least he was until Romney made his inspection trip. I know the White House claims Obama made the decision to visit Louisiana before Mitt Romney’s announcement that he would be going to the state Friday to see damage from Hurricane Isaac. Frankly I just don’t believe it. Do you? After all Obama announced that he would tour Hurricane Isaac damage in Louisiana only after Romney did.

Spencer points out this is Obama’s M.O.; he’s done this before:

Iowa city councilman: Obama has fundraised over touring flood damage before

President Barack Obama ignored a request to tour flood damage in Sioux City, Iowa, last summer, City Councilman Keith Radig said in a radio appearance. Obama chose not to visit the area the Missouri River flooded last summer, Radig added, and is only going to speak at the city’s Morningside College at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday because he’s in desperate need of votes against Mitt Romney ahead of November’s election.

You could kind of describe Obama as a fair weathered friend — he’s one that’s only there when he needs something from you,” Radig said. “But when we needed his leadership, he was nowhere to be found. In the Midwest we are hardworking and determined. We are tired of struggling due to the Obama policies.”

Radig added that when five congressmen wrote to Obama last summer asking him for help and to visit the damaged area, he declined, instead campaigning on other side of Iowa.

Out of deference to the potential struggles facing many in Isaac’s path and concern over safety, the Republican National Committee and Romney campaign scrapped the entire first day of their convention. On subsequent days, moments of silence and prayers were offered for those in harm’s way. While huge images of Red Cross contact information appeared on the many large onstage screens, speakers repeatedly urged Americans to aid Isaac victims by donating to the Red Cross.

Another event took place which seemed to be beneath the attention of the mainstream media:

Monday in Tampa: Utah delegates at GOP convention work on hygiene kits ahead of Tropical Storm Isaac
By Lisa Riley Roche, Deseret News
Monday, Aug. 27 2012

TAMPA, Fla. — With the first day of the four-day Republican National Convention cut short by Tropical Storm Isaac, the Utah delegation quickly assembled 1,000 hygiene kits that will be distributed by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, possibly to storm victims.

“Our goal here is to leave Tampa better than we found it,” Wright said.

Utah House Majority Leader Brad Dee, R-Ogden, said the state has a reputation for showing compassion. “It’s important to give back,” Dee said. “We have so many blessings that come into our lives.”

Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, thanked the participants for their work.

It reflects well of our state and of our party,” Lee said. “It’s good to be a Republican. Most importantly, it’s good to be getting a new president of the United States.”

Hats off to the Utah delegation and others who helped.

Remember how Obama drug his golf shoe toes on visiting the Gulf when the BP oil spill occurred?

And, when Obama says “I am my brother’s keeper” he just doesn’t mean his real brother.

As coverage of the Democratic convention begins today, remember: Pretty-words-Obama can’t begin to measure up to make-it-happen Mitt Romney.

A DNC Reality Check: Facts to Truth (Are you better off?)

This week during the DNC we will hear all kinds of soaring rhetoric not unlike that of candidate Obama from the 2008 campaign. We will even hear from President Clinton and when you do, remember back to March when he said this of Mitt Romney:

“I don’t think that we ought to get into the position where we say ‘This is bad work. This is good work,’” Clinton said. “The man who has been governor and had a sterling business career crosses the qualification threshold.”

Clinton also went on to say that Romney’s time at Bain Capital represented a “good business career.”

As we begin a week of retread promises from Mr. Obama and his smiling surrogates, we need to keep this simple question in mind always:

Are you better off?

This week during the Democratic National Convention (and leading into the election), when you hear words like “invest” or any promised service or lower cost, ask yourself where they plan to get the funds for such “freebies” or subsidies. And remember that Mr. Obama and the Democrat congress currently do not operate from an approved budget, which means much higher deficit spending on top of Obama’s spectacular record deficits since 2009. It is our hope that the following information will serve as a reference guide for you to anchor the DNC words in truth and fact.

  • FACT: No incumbent president ever continued to blame his predecessor beyond the first year of his first term — doing so is a sign of weakness in leadership. President Obama continues to blame President Bush all four years of his term as president, never taking responsibility for any of his failed decisions or actions.
  • FACT: Candidate Obama stated it would take him three years (by end of 2011) to turn the economy around and if he didn’t, his tenure would be “a one-term proposition.” He failed miserably.
  • FACT: Candidate Obama in July 2008 called President Bush “irresponsible” and “unpatriotic” for increasing the national debt by no more that $458B per year while Mr. Obama wracked up almost three times that level at $1.35T per year! (Candidate Obama ran on a platform of deficit reduction)
  • FACT: The national debt when Obama took office in 2009 was at $10.6T and currently stands at $15.9T. By the end of Obama’s four years as president, he will have increased the national debt by more than all prior presidents combined from George Washington to George Bush. The highest in world history.
  • FACT: President Bush’s proposed budget increase for fiscal 2009 was 3%; the budget approved and implemented by the Democrat majorities increased spending by 17.9% in 2009.
  • FACT: When Obama took office in 2009 the unemployment rate was 7.8% and in 2012 it is at 8.2%. Obama promised that the stimulus would bring unemployment below 6%; the unemployment rate has been above 8% for 42 consecutive months with 23 million Americans currently out of work. No incumbent president in modern times has ever been re-elected with unemployment above 7.8%. The real unemployment rate is at approximately 16%. Unemployment is also being concealed by the between 3-4 million people who have been added to the Social Security disability insurance program since Obama took office.
  • FACT: Hispanic unemployment is currently at 10.3%; when including those too discouraged to look for work, the unemployment rate is 19%.
  • FACT: Median income when Obama took office was $54,983; three and half years later, median income has fallen by $4,019 to $50,964. There is no indication that median income will rise under President Obama.
  • FACT: Gasoline prices at the time Obama took office were $1.85/gallon. Today, they are at $3.78/gallon.
  • FACT: Average total federal spending as a percent of GDP under President Bush’s eight years was 19.6% (this is also the approximate historical average as well). Obama’s total federal spending as a percent of GDP is 24.4% and if you don’t think that change is much, do the math. This is by far the largest spending since World War II. President Obama’s proposed budget policies would bring the following levels of federal spending as a percentage of GDP to 30% by 2027, 40% by 2040, 50% by 2060, and 80% by 2080.
  • FACT: At the end of Bush’s second term, 24% of households received “means-tested” benefits such as welfare or food stamps. Not only has Obama increased these rolls to 35.1%, he has used marketing methods to encourage many more Americans to apply for food stamps. Additionally, about 50% of all Americans currently receive some type of government support according to the Census Bureau.
  • FACT: Barack Obama has never run even a tiny business and therefore has no business sense at all. Any assertions he makes about business ring hollow. He has no clue how to take a business from concept to long-term profitability, which includes making payroll, month in and month out. Evidence? His completely out-of-touch diatribe of business owners: “If you’ve been successful, you didn’t get there on your own! . . . If you’ve got a business, you didn’t build that! Somebody else made that happen!”
  • FACT: Obama has created over 150,000 new unionized federal jobs with median incomes exceeding $70,000 plus benefits, during a time of astounding unemployment in the private sector and while Republican governors have been cutting back public payrolls.
  • FACT: Barack Obama never intended to keep the many promises he made in 2008. He is a man that has proven by inaction, that he is all talk. Mitt Romney has decades of experience driving to results. If he makes a promise, he will deliver on it. He is known for exceeding expectations relative to strategic goal setting.

As you listen to the many promises of largess this week, take a minute and reread each of the above bullet points to bring the oratory back to reality. Why should we even listen to Mr. Obama this time around let alone believe any promise or commitment he makes now?

Are you better off?

How does the old adage go? “Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.” Let the deceit, betrayal, duplicity, and hypocrisy end with you. Mitt Romney is one of the most talented and skilled people to ever seek the Office of President of The United States of America. It is time to vote for a proven executive leader and tell Mr. Obama “it is time to go.”

Romney’s Labor Day Statement: “Even Obama has said we aren’t better off…”

Republican Presidential Nominee, Mitt Romney, today released the following statement on Labor Day:

“Labor Day is a chance to celebrate the strong American work ethic. But for far too many Americans, today is another day of worrying when their next paycheck will come. Over 23 million Americans are struggling for work and job creation has not returned to our economy the way it should. Even President Obama has said we aren’t better off today than we were four years ago. My plan for a stronger middle class will champion small businesses, create millions of good jobs, and build a better future for our country.

From The Washington Times:

For 23 million Americans without jobs, the Labor Day holiday is not a day off but just another day without work. It’s a fitting hash mark for the presidential campaign kickoff, reminding Americans of President Obama’s tragic failure to deliver.

In 2009, Mr. Obama promised to lower unemployment to 5.5 percent by 2012. It’s stuck at 8.3 percent. In his first budget, hopefully titled “A New Era of Responsibility,” he projected current growth in the gross domestic product would be a red-hot 6.3 percent. Instead, the country creeps along at a miserable 1.5 percent. One measure of the Obama administration’s desperation is Labor Secretary Hilda L. Solis applauding the latest youth unemployment figures, which dipped all the way to 17.1 percent. When numbers that high make officials “excited,” you know things are terrible.

For Americans who are fortunate enough to have jobs, Labor Day is a time to relax with family and friends and enjoy the fruits of their hard work. For the millions still looking for employment or who have given up their search in frustration, it is just another bummer Obama day.

Hold on, America. Help is on the way!

Romney & Ryan are just 63 days away from being voted into office.

Presidents Obama & Clinton Rebuked by Parents of Fallen Warrior

As a father of five, it is unimaginable what it would be like to lose a son or daughter in death. Billy and Karen Vaughn lost their son Aaron Carson Vaughn a little over a year ago in Afghanistan while he served our nation during Operation Enduring Freedom. Aaron enlisted in the Navy in 2002 and became a SEAL in 2004. Relatively few SEALs earn a place in the highly secretive counter-terrorism and Special Mission Unit DEVGRU (SEAL Team Six); Aaron earned a place in the squad in 2010.

We of the MRC team extend our most sincere condolences to Mr. and Mrs. Vaughn in their time of grief and pain.

This week, Karen Vaughn expressed her outrage at Presidents Obama and Clinton for their “audacity” to create a political ad to state how Mr. Obama would have been politically damaged had the Osama bin Laden raid gone south in some way.

Quoting Aaron’s mother Karen Vaughn (referring to Obama and Clinton):

“How out of touch can a human being be?

“He is so out of touch with his insanity!”

“Disgusting insensitivity to the families that have lost warriors on the battlefield!

Clinton: “The downside would have been horrible for him.” [Obama]

President Obama is not much more than a politician that will do or say anything to retain power as President of the United States of America. He will be fully revealed in the next 60+ days and as he is, voters will quickly realize that Mitt Romney will do everything in his power to honor those who serve our country and never with an eye to retaining power.

Obama Cuts Military Support to Israel & Receives Near Silence during Speech at Fort Bliss

Israeli F-15C (Eagle) Fighters (Photo: Israeli Military)

In an exclusive article published yesterday, TimeWorld reported (Exclusive: U.S. Scales-Back Military Exercise with Israel, Affecting Potential Iran Strike) that the U.S. government has been attempting to quietly cut support of Israel militarily, providing the excuse of “budget restrictions.” What budget? This excuse is laughable and is nothing more than an excuse. And spending restrictions? When has the Obama administration ever “restricted” its spending? President Obama is going to start to cut spending now by doing so with Israel? The entire article is a must-read. [Hat Tip to Kevin Anderson for sending over the Fort Bliss article] Excerpts:

Seven months ago, Israel and the United States postponed a massive joint military exercise that was originally set to go forward just as concerns were brimming that Israel would launch a strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities. The exercise was rescheduled for late October, and appears likely to go forward on the cusp of the U.S. presidential election. But it won’t be nearly the same exercise. Well-placed sources in both countries have told TIME that Washington has greatly reduced the scale of U.S. participation, slashing by more than two-thirds the number of American troops going to Israel and reducing both the number and potency of missile interception systems at the core of the joint exercise.

“Basically what the Americans are saying is, ‘We don’t trust you,’” a senior Israeli military official tells TIME.

Photo: JewishCenter.org

The reductions are striking. Instead of the approximately 5,000 U.S. troops originally trumpeted for Austere Challenge 12, as the annual exercise is called, the Pentagon will send only 1,500 service members, and perhaps as few as 1,200. Patriot anti-missile systems will arrive in Israel as planned, but the crews to operate them will not. Instead of two Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense warships being dispatched to Israeli waters, the new plan is to send one, though even the remaining vessel is listed as a “maybe,” according to officials in both militaries.
[...]
In the current political context, the U.S. logic is transparent, says Israeli analyst Efraim Inbar. “I think they don’t want to insinuate that they are preparing something together with the Israelis against Iran – that’s the message,” says Inbar, director of the Begin-Sadat Center for Strategic Studies at Bar-Ilan University. “Trust? We don’t trust them. They don’t trust us. All these liberal notions! Even a liberal president like Obama knows better.”

[emphasis added]

Mr. Obama’s support from active duty military service members and veterans alike has fallen substantially over the last year amid constant reports of intentionally leaking of classified intelligence including well placed assets, methods of operation, numbers of special operations personnel involved in missions, etc. His support for re-election continues to slide among those in the military. Could it be because our active duty service members have been well aware of Mr. Obama’s weakening partnership with one of America’s strongest allies? Consider as evidence the speech he gave yesterday at Fort Bliss, Texas.

Several articles reported the event with all of them mentioning the lackluster reception received by their commander in chief. One article (Obama speech to soldiers met with silence) by The Daily Caller provided a point by point account of the speech that fell flat throughout:

President Barack Obama was greeted with fleeting applause and extended periods of silence as he offered profuse praise to soldiers and their families during an Aug. 31 speech in Fort Bliss, Texas.

His praise for the soldiers — and for his own national-security policies — won cheers from only a small proportion of the soldiers and families in the cavernous aircraft-hanger.

The audience remains quiet even when the commander-in-chief thanked the soldiers’ families, and cited the 198 deaths of their comrades in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The audience’s reaction was so flat that the president tried twice to elicit a reaction from the crowd.

“Hey, I hear you,” he said amid silence. (more…)
