While Americans are cheering for U.S. athletes as they go for the gusto at the Olympic games in London (USA!) former New Hampshire Governor John Sununu continues to garner political gold on Mitt Romney’s behalf.
Sununu appeared yesterday on CNBC’s ‘Closing Bell’ with Maria Bartiromo to set the facts straight on Obama’s auto bailout attacks on Romney. Entitlement reform, taxes, the economy, and more were mentioned. As usual, solid Sununu came armed with facts and controlled the narrative.
No wonder Bartiromo couldn’t get anyone from the Obama campaign to appear with Sununu…
Two days ago (July 31st) Sununu took on Juan Yawn Williams on Hannity (FOX News). Sununu ran truth circles around Williams…
“Is government the solution or the problem?” (begins @:15):
(Did you notice how Williams employed another new desperate Obama tactic? When Sununu laid out the disaster of Obamanomics, Williams attacked with a silly and ineffective “you’re-so-pessimistic-about-America-Chicken-Little” meme. Sounds like Team Obama held a few midnight beer summits to come up with that one!) (more…)
At the New Hampshire GOP primaries this year I saw a sign that said “It takes a Carter to get a Reagan.”
I was reminded of the Carter / Obama comparison Sunday when I heard a replay of Michele Bachmann’s speech to conservative college students at the 2012 Eagle Forum. She described working on the Carter campaign when she was in college. Yes, Michele Bachmann was a Carter Democrat (she liked his family values). But soon after his election she realized how badly his policies were affecting America and had a personal “renaissance,” became a Reagan Republican and obviously has not looked back. The entire five minute clip below is worth watching. Ms. Bachmann discusses the forecast $17 trillion in unfunded commitments under Obamacare, how shocked she was when she heard the Obamacare Supreme Court decision and the need to begin working immediately to help elect Mitt Romney and win the “triple crown” of the presidency, the House and the Senate.
Those who can remember Carter’s presidency remember a 20% prime interest rate, “stagflation,” rising gas prices and lack of foreign policy leadership. Past has indeed been prologue.
I’m struck by the similarity to our current situation. So was our own David Parker in his own article here on Mitt Romney Central a couple weeks ago.
But Ms. Bachmann also reminds us in the video that an economy can turn around very quickly under the right leadership. In 1980 it was Ronald Reagan. In 2012, it’s Mitt Romney.
Many college Democrats who worked for President Obama in the last election may find it hard to return to the message of “hope and change” as they are faced with the realities of President Obama’s policies. (more…)
“If you’ve got a business — you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen.” –Barack Obama 7/13/12 Roanoke, VA
Governor Romney was on fire yesterday!
The news was a-buzz with his blazing no-teleprompter speech at Irwin, Pennsylvania, which scorched Obama for his crony capitalism, job outsourcing, his belief that business owners didn’t create their businesses, and more. If you missed it, check it out here.
Team Romney today followed up with a new web ad:
President Obama’s time in office has been marked by political payoffs to the donor class and layoffs for the middle class. He showered his friends with stimulus funds and sent millions of taxpayer dollars overseas. If we can’t trust him with our money, why should we trust him for another four years?
Where Did All The Money Go?
“Liberal politics don’t make good jobs! – Mitt Romney
Conservative radio host Mark Levin loved what he heard from Romney so much he had to call Neil Cavuto (FOX News):
“What Obama said on Saturday [Friday] was so outrageous – he’s disrespecting the American people. Everybody out there who holds a job and works hard, and applies their skills, and puts in an honest day for a paycheck, or starts a business – he just slapped everybody around – because it has never been about millionaires or billionaires with Obama. He despises the capitalist system.” – Mark Levin
Fox & Friends invited Senator Rob Portman to share his opinion on O’Liarbama’s revealing declaration (July 17, 2012):
Former NH Governor John Sununu was snagged yeterday by Sean Hannity to speak for Romney while Juan Williams did his best to stick up for Storyteller-in-Chief. Guess who won? You’re right. Can-do-Sununu (If the first video gets hung up, click here.):
“All the President has been doing is condemning success.” – Fmr NH GovJohn Sununu
“The Obama campaign is blowing smoke here…
The weight of evidence suggests that Romney did, in fact, end active management of Bain in 1999.”
– Glenn Kessler, Washington Post, FACT CHECKER
Well, we’re off to a roaring Monday!
Governor Romney appeared on FOX & Friends (via remote) and is campaigning today with LA Governor Bobby Jindal. After The Gov’s appearance on FOX, Donald Trump phoned in for his usual Monday commentary and spoke for The Gov. Sununu was on Megyn Kelly’s show; Senator John McCain did a phone interview for Romney. And, to top it off, a top Romney aide announced today that a running mate for The Gov could be named by the end of the week.
Gloves off, O-LIARbama!
• Before we get to Romney on FOX & Friends, let’s listen to legal analyst Peter Johnson, Jr.’s exchange with Steve Doocy this morning (same program). Johnson spent the weekend researching the claim that “Romney outsourced jobs”:
Is there any proof Romney actually outsourced jobs? NO.
• Here’s an excerpt of Romney on FOX & Friends discussing Obama’s crony payoffs vs middle class layoffs (excerpt):
Steve Doocy: “I read in the Washington Post this morning that you want to draw attention to Obama’s political payoffs versus the middle class layoffs where you say, if you are a donor to the Obama camp you are going to do just fine. However, if you are in the middle class Governor, your camp say, yo got to worry about your job.”
Romney: “There is no question but that when billions upon billions of dollars are given by the Obama Administration to the businesses of campaign contributors, that is a real problem particularly at a time when the middle class is really suffering in this country. I don’t know whether you watched over the weekend, the report that was in The New York Times about families really struggling particularly those that are single parents that are just having a hard time making ends meet. This is a tough time for the people of America. But if you are a campaign contributor to Barack Obama, your business may stand to get billions of dollars or hundreds of millions of dollars in cash from the government. I think it’s wrong. I think it stinks to high heaven and I think the administration has to explain how it is they would consider giving money to campaign contributors’ businesses. ”
Romney Press shop also today released President Obama Has Engaged In Political Payoffs By Rewarding Wealthy Donors And Administration Insiders With Taxpayer Dollars. Read the FACTS here.
• Trump phoned in to say ‘open book’ Obama should release his college applications and records (FOX & Friends):
• Senator John McCain was interviewed on today on Michigan’s Morning Show (WJIM) in Lansing, MI. He was there to discuss Obama’s broken promises (excerpt):
McCain: “This is a President that said if he couldn’t get it done in four years—i.e., restore the economy—then he didn’t deserve a second term. This is a President that’s now saying he should have ‘told a better story’ in his first two years as President? What he really shouldn’t have done is foist off Obamacare on the American people in the sleaziest process that I have ever seen in the United States Senate. You know the Cornhusker Kickback, the Louisiana Purchase. He said he wouldn’t have any lobbyists in the White House? He didn’t. He had them in the Blair House. It’s the worst thing I’ve ever observed and the American people obviously deserved a lot better than what we got today.”
• Reacting to Obama’s refusal to apologize for lies being said about Romney, former New Hampshire Governor John Sununu was on Megyn Kelly’s America Live:
Sununu: “We could be talking about the 24 million unemployed and underemployed. They’re the ones that have problems. When I go to the supermarket and I talk to folks and they want to talk to me about Governor Romney – what they talk to me about the most is the fact that this is the guy that can solve the problem that their son or their daughter – who just graduated from college – can’t find a job on. They want to talk about the fact that they need a president who can solve problems.
… If President Obama thinks he’s gonna escape the reality of him giving contracts to bundlers, contracts to cronies, contracts to people who are represented by former White House staffers – the money that they gave to Solyndra. You didn’t like talk about Solyndra, but it’s a FACT. The Solyndra money was given because there were bundlers involved in the investment – to the Finish car company. THESE ARE ALL REALITIES.”
Obama says a candidate for the White House must be an open book… What a hypocrite!
July 10, 2012:
Notice O’Storyteller didn’t answer the question? How about how easily Obama lies?
His operatives are parroting the lie that Governor Romney is the most secretive guy since Nixon. We know what’s going on here… Tack a label on the opposition describing what YOUR guy is/has been in order to deflect and deceive. In psychological terms it’s called projection; it’s when one projects their problems onto other people:
It is “the operation of expelling feelings or wishes the individual finds wholly unacceptable – too shameful, too obscene, too dangerous – by attributing them to another”.
Obama has been anything but an open book and he’s the real outsourcer. He and his Scheme Team are hell-bent to project those negatives onto Governor Romney. When he ran for President, the main stream media conveniently lost their collective vetting magnifying glass. (Oh, but Romney’s days as a teenager? Pull out the microscope and publish page after page!)
Figuring out the real Obama is a puzzle which has occupied many *heroic modern-day Sherlocks.
Regarding the continuing “felon” falsehoods blurting out of Obama talking heads, CNN’s John King spoke last week with four Bain Capital employees; three are Democrats, two are active Obama supporters. They confirm Romney’s truth – that he left Bain in February 1999 and had nothing to do with the company:
CNN Report Debunks Latest False Attack From Obama Campaign
Last week, CNN’s Anderson cooper, John King, and David Gergen reported on Team Obama’s despicable and desperate behavior on Romney/Bain and possibly being a felon. Even Obama-cheerleader David Gergen frustratingly concluded: “The Obama campaign is now playing a very rough form of politics and is that really what we were promised?” Rarely does one see such concern on Gergen’s face for Obama…
“Put it simply: Team Obama is lying, and it continues to lie about Romney. They are desperate to find a way to make Romney’s time at Bain work in their favor, and that desperation has nearly reached pathological levels. Still, for Obama, it beats talking about the economy, jobs, the deficit, and anything else that actually matters to voters.”
**Suggested reading for truth on ‘open book’ Obama:
⇨ Note: Rather than list in this article all the lies from Obama, Romney supporters are invited to leave comments exposing the outsourcing Obama has done and the many lies coming from him, his administration, and his campaign.
“President Obama continues to talk out of both sides of his mouth. While lamenting negative ads and calling for a debate on the issues, his campaign is running a dishonest, shameful smear campaign with no plans to get Americans back to work. The American people deserve the truth and they certainly deserve better from their president.”
– Andrea Saul, Romney Campaign Spokesperson
Obama continued his unrelenting lying today…
On the campaign trail the President still unabashedly proclaimed “Mr. Romney” as an outsourcer – that he, Obama, is an insourcer. When one is in the deceit business, saying preposterous things seem normal. He’s the emperor with no clothes – a preposterous President whose lies roll so easily off his tongue.
Days After Accusing Governor Romney Of Being A Felon, The Obama Campaign Now Professes To Want A Real Debate On The Issues:
Obama Campaign Spokesperson Jen Psaki: “Of Course The President Wants To Have A Highbrow Debate About These Policy Issues And What The American People Actually Care About.” (Politico, 7/14/12)
How Can President Obama Have The “Highbrow Debate” He Allegedly Wants? Don’t Spend $100 Million On Overwhelmingly Negative Ads…
The Associated Press: “A Sustained Early Barrage Designed To Create Lasting, Negative Impressions” Of Governor Romney. “President Barack Obama’s campaign has spent nearly $100 million on television commercials in selected battleground states so far, unleashing a sustained early barrage designed to create lasting, negative impressions of Republican Mitt Romney before he and his allies ramp up for the fall.” (“Obama Spending On Attack Ads Soars,” The Associated Press, 7/14/12)
Don’t Allow Your Campaign To Accuse Your Opponent Of Being A Felon…
FactCheck.org: “No Basis For The Obama Campaign’s Claim That Romney Committed A Felony.” “But we see little new in any of these SEC filings, and a University of Pennsylvania Law School professor we spoke to sees no basis for the Obama campaign’s claim that Romney committed a felony.” (Brooks Jackson, “Romney’s Bain Years: New Evidence, Same Conclusion,” FactCheck.org, 7/12/12)
CNN’s Wolf Blitzer: “Before You Make An Accusation, Shouldn’t There Be More Investigation When You Start Raising The Possibility, In [The Obama Campaign’s] Words, Of Committing Felony…?” BLITZER: “So, the question is: why would Stephanie Cutter jump to this felony accusation? No one has ever suggested Mitt Romney did anything ever criminally wrong. … The question is, before you make an accusation, shouldn’t there be more investigation when you start raising the possibility, in her words, of committing felony – potentially this is a felony? That’s a serious accusation.” (CNN’s “The Situation Room,” 7/12/12)
Former Governor And DNC Chair Ed Rendell: The Obama Campaign “Went A Little Bit Too Far With The Felony Business.” RENDELL: “I think Carol also made a very good point about all this attack may be hurting the President’s brand a little bit, too. I think our supporters went a little bit too far with the felony business.” (MSNBC’s “NOW With Alex Wagner,” 7/13/12)
Syndicated Columnist Charles Krauthammer: “When You Get The Obama Campaign Accusing Him Of Being A Felon, You Have Jumped The Shark.” KRAUTHAMMER: “But when you get the Obama campaign accusing him of being a felon, you have jumped the shark. … So when they accuse him of deliberately lying to the SEC and committing a felony, they are then retroactively questioning all the series of charges up to then. That’s jumping the shark. That is a mistake.” (Fox News’ “Special Report,” 7/12/12)
Don’t Repeat Baseless Attacks That Have Been Thoroughly Debunked And Discredited…
The fallout from the Obama machine’s serious mis-step of implying Governor Mitt Romney is a felon continues…
Obama appeared on CBS today and doubled-down on the Bain/Romney/felony smokescreen. He also released two more ads today on the same topic. (Obama is outspending Romney 3-1 on ads in battleground states. Revealing a bit of stratagem, FOX News’ Carl Cameron today said Team Romney will hit back with targeted ads in a couple of weeks.)
Meanwhile, in response to Stephanie Cutter, Romney campaign manager Matt Rhoades issued a blistering statement yesterday and called for an apology:
“President Obama’s campaign hit a new low today when one of its senior advisers made a reckless and unsubstantiated charge to reporters about Mitt Romney that was so over the top that it calls into question the integrity of their entire campaign,” Rhoades said. “President Obama ought to apologize for the out-of-control behavior of his staff, which demeans the office he holds. Campaigns are supposed to be hard fought, but statements like those made by Stephanie Cutter belittle the process and the candidate on whose behalf she works.“
Bulldog John Sununu appeared on Hannity yesterday and had this to say:
Charles Krauthammer weighed in yesterday, as well:
Even Obama surrogate Ed Rendell disapproves of Obama’s latest over-the-top smear. Here he is on MSNBC’s’Now’program with Alex Wagner:
Romney spokesman Ryan Williams issued this statement: “Earlier today, former Governor Ed Rendell had the courage to do what President Obama would not: admit the Obama campaign’s baseless and unsubstantiated attacks on Mitt Romney went too far. President Obama may talk about a different kind of politics and bringing people together, but it’s just another broken promise from a president who has failed to keep so many.”
Governor Romney today released this fantastic ad using Obama’s OWN WORDS:
CNN’s John King wrote this yesterday regarding Team Obama’s declaring 1999 as the birth year of ‘the big Bain Lie’:
Slam! Now Romney could be a criminal. Yes, we could be supporting a felon! (*eye-roll*) From lie-launcher Stephanie Cutter (Obama Deputy Campaign Manager):
In a conference call with reporters this morning, the Obama campaign focused on this morning’s Boston Globe story arguing that Mitt Romney remained at Bain through 2002. The Romney campaign has called the story “not accurate.”
“Either Mitt Romney, through his own words and his own signature, was misrepresenting his position at Bain to the SEC, which is a felony, or he was misrepresenting his position at Bain to the American people to avoid responsibility for some of the consequences of his investment,” Obama deputy campaign manager Stephanie Cutter asserted.
“If he was lying to the American people,” she added. “then that’s a real character and trust issue that the American people need to take very seriously.”
“If he’s legally responsible for everything that happened inside those Bain deals, seems to me that he’s also politically responsible for the consequences of those deals in terms of people losing their jobs, losing their pensions and their health care, and American jobs being shipped overseas,” she said.
Slam! Cutter also reiterated the too-stupid-for-words claim that Governor Romney is the most secretive presidential candidate since Richard Nixon. Another attempt to define The Gov by invoking a name attached with great scandal… Yes, the Obama lie launchers have obviously memorized the Alinsky playbook.
Slam! In pre-emptive worminess to negate positive press coming Romney’s way from his attendance at the summer Olympics in London in a couple of weeks, Cutter tried to get some bang with this one:
Cutter also took a swipe at his work related to the 2002 Olympics, commenting that Romney’s Olympic record was “less than wholesome, shall we say, in terms of the decisions that were made there, the contracts that were signed, and the basic operation of how Mitt Romney ran the Olympics.”
Slam! Obama’s lie-launchers are not giving up on the Romney is an outsourcer meme, either.
Yes, Ms. Cutter. LYING is a real character and trust issue the American people need to take very seriously. The fact that you and your boss are deceiving America IS BEING TAKEN VERY SERIOUSLY. So, stand back liars! Romney and team are firing back with explosions of TRUTH…
In a conference call Monday morning, senior staff said Romney’s surrogates would stop shying away from the word “lie” in responding to Democrats’ attacks on his business record, and plan to go on TV to call Obama a “liar,” the source said.
They are very fed up with these attacks,” said the source.
To spread the message, the source said, the campaign is going to start circulating a document to press that compiles “presidential falsehoods and exaggerations.”
NUMBER ONE: The Obama Campaign’s Discredited Attack On Governor Romney’s Record Of Job Creation
NUMBER TWO: President Obama Falsely Claimed Obamacare Was “Absolutely Not A Tax Increase”
NUMBER THREE: The Obama Campaign’s Attempt To Deflect Blame For The Failed Solyndra Investment
NUMBER FOUR: President Obama’s False Claim About His Record Of Creating Manufacturing Jobs
NUMBER FIVE: The Obama Campaign Distorted Governor Romney’s Position On Abortion
NUMBER SIX: The Obama Campaign’s Distorted Attacks About Massachusetts Contracts For Foreign Jobs
NUMBER SEVEN: The Obama Campaign’s Misleading Claim About Massachusetts’ Debt Burden
NUMBER EIGHT: The Obama Campaign’s False Attack About Governor Romney’s Position On Student Loan Rates
NUMBER NINE: President Obama’s Misinformation About His Own Record Of Job Creation
NUMBER TEN: President Obama’s “Ridiculous” Claim On Tax Cuts
The Romney press shop today released ANOTHER DAY, ANOTHER OBAMA CAMPAIGN FALSEHOOD:
“The Obama campaign must think Mitt Romney is Superman. He was, in reality, rescuing the Olympics by working in Utah 24/7 for the years the Obama campaign also alleges he was running Bain Capital. Even though the Obama campaign may be wrong about his involvement in Bain Capital, it shows that even they can admit Mitt Romney is a great leader.” –Former Governor John Sununu
Today, The Obama Campaign Launched Even More False Attacks On Governor Romney’s Business Career:
Today, The Obama Campaign Falsely Alleged That Governor Romney Was Managing Bain Capital After February 1999. “The Obama campaign said a Boston Globe report Thursday proves Mitt Romney hasn’t been truthful about when he left Bain Capital. The Globe story cites SEC filings to prove Romney stayed on as head of Bain Capital after 1999.” (Pema Levy, “Obama Camp: Romney ‘Wasn’t Telling The Truth’,” Talking Points Memo, 7/12/12)
Multiple Non-Partisan Fact Checkers Have Already Confirmed Mitt Romney Left Bain Capital When He Actually Did – In February 1999:
“The Massachusetts-Based Firm Notes That Romney Retired More Than 13 Years Ago.” (Steve Peoples, “Bain Capital Defends Record In Light Of Criticism,” The Associated Press, 5/16/12)
Evidence that the Romney campaign is punching back on Obama’s “job outsourcing” lies against The Gov, plain-spoken Romney surrogate John Sununu today fired another salvo against Obama. Taking on main stream media Andrea Mitchell (Mitchell Reports/MSNBC), in the course of the interview, he chuckled at her several times as she “struggled” to defend the real job outsourcer – Obama:
Sununu: “The outsourcing issue really causes two problems for President Obama. One: It underscores his dishonesty. The ad they were running – which all the independent fact-checking groups have said is dishonest – ends with President Obama saying “I’m President Obama and I approve this message.“ It should say, “I’m President Obama and I approve this dishonest message.”And the second problem he has with outsourcing is that there is a huge amount of outsourcing which was driven by Obama policy. The money – the $500 million they gave to FISKAR – created jobs in Finland. The solar energy grants they gave created jobs in Mexico. The wind turbine grants they gave created jobs in Denmark. So, the point that I think is really interesting is that the outsourcing issue underscores how few smarts there are in this White House and in this Obama campaign – that they expose themselves to the response criticism that I think – unlike what Mr. Cilliza said – is going to end up making this a winning issue for Mitt Romney.
Mitchell: Isn’t it a winning issue for the White House, fundamentally, granted that the PolitiFact folks and the Washington Post pointing out that the President’s campaign ad on that issue had a lot of questions and a lot of questionable attacks?
Sununu: But they said it was wrong. A lot of questionable tactics is not right, it was wrong.
Mitchell: But the point is, that isn’t Mitt Romney more vulnerable than the President on this issue because there still is — the whole question of private equity of outsourcing. Yo could argue about when he left Bain Capital and whether he was still getting money from Bain Capital and what some of the companies in Bain were doing, companies that did end up working overseas and sending jobs overseas. But isn’t it a bigger problem for Republicans than for the White House?
Sununu: No. When you’ve sent $500 million to Fisker and it goes to Finland immediately. When you send the solar money and it goes to Mexico. When you send the turbine money and it goes to Denmark. And we can go on all day. There is $29 billion worth of purchases that came out of this administration, outsourced jobs to foreign countries.
Mitt Romney outsourced zero —
Sununu: Zero. He wasn’t there when those issues came up.
Mitchell: Well, first of all the $29 billion are not all outsourced from the administration because —
Sununu: Sure they are.
Mitchell: A lot of those jobs still remained here. There are jobs — when you do a grant, governor, there are jobs here as well as overseas.
Sununu: You know, it’s interesting that the President again chooses to demonstrate why he has ruined this economy. He doesn’t understand why he is behind the eight ball with 8.2% unemployment. He’s behind the eight ball because those people who invest in jobs that want to put money into create jobs look at this administration and are scared to death of things like this tax and like overregulation. All he’s done with what he put out yesterday is convince them that if Obama is elected, they’re taking their investment money out of the country.
Sununu: “Well, he’s [Obama] doing to his Democratic party what he did when he sent up a budget and lost in the house by 414-0 and in the senate, 98-0. All he cares about is himself. He doesn’t care about the people that support him politically and frankly I think this is just a repetition of a desperate act by a president who wants to create class warfare. It’s why he’s going to lose.“
VIDEO: The Future of America (press play button below)
Awhile back, I coined the term “TV voter” in reference to the person whose sole or primary knowledge of political candidates’ positions is acquired via television viewing. In my opinion, the majority choosing to vote for Barack Obama are TV voters. Their source of knowledge? I don’t know; probably MSNBC.
All kidding aside, check out this unscientific survey conducted by Jesse Watters. On the Fourth of July he interviewed 27 people under the age of 40 — a whopping 55% of these individuals had, quoting Mr. Watters, “no clue about the founding of this country.” Remember, each one of these person’s vote is exactly equal to yours and mine and they love Obama!
Key words to watch for in these TV voters’ answers: “Bicentennial” — “Independence from whom?” — “Abraham Lincoln, our first president” — “What’s a ‘founding father’?” — “Samuel Adams” — “Freedom” — “1600” (the year Declaration of Independence was signed) – and many more! What is shocking and sad is these people are serious and they are sober.
The reason I put up this “survey” is because I strongly believe the main reason we have many young people who are so willing to give up personal liberty for the mirage of entitlement is because they know little to nothing about the sacrifices of the women and men that established this nation (and if I didn’t, you would not have believed me when restating their answers). Sadly, most know nothing about why this nation is special — why America is exceptional.
