A Great New Romney vs. Obama 2012 Video!

March 30th, 2011 Rebel Ross 2 comments

This video is fantastic. It was created by a guy named Troy and he has graciously given us permission to put the video on the Mitt Romney Central Youtube Channel so that it will gain more views.

This video joins a growing list of impressive grassroots-created videos promoting Mitt Romney. Our favorite are posted below. I can’t wait to see even more of these videos. Please “like” them because some of them have been vote-botted by other groups so they don’t show up as high when “Mitt Romney” is searched.

Boston Herald Front Page Story “Obama Misery Index Hits a Record High” – by Mitt Romney

March 8th, 2011 Rebel Ross 10 comments

Source: BostonHerald.com

I love the way the latest Politico piece was presented. I saw something to the effect of “Mitt welcomes the President to Massachusetts” and was a little surprised. Much to my delight, they were referring to Mitt’s front page piece for the Boston Herald.

Just one day after we started promoting Mitt’s creation of the “Obama Misery Index”, Gov. Romney releases a front page article for the Boston Herald entitled “Obama Misery Index Hits a Record High”. I’m telling you all right now that this is going to be a huge part of the upcoming campaign (mostly the general election), so it’s best if we’re all familiar with it as soon as possible. [Remember, the Obama Misery Index is composed of unemployment, debt, home foreclosures, and bankruptcies].

When Ronald Reagan ran for president in 1980, he hung the Misery Index around Jimmy Carter’s neck. It consisted of the sum total of unemployment and inflation. Today, we have a different set of ailments. Instead of unemployment coupled with inflation, we have a toxic blend of unemployment, debt, home foreclosures, and bankruptcies. Their sum total is what we can call the Obama Misery Index. It is at a record high; indeed, it makes even the malaise of the Carter years look like a boom. Unemployment has fallen, but it’s fallen to a level that is still, by any historical marker, a national disaster. To suggest it as an achievement is to engage in what Daniel Patrick Moynihan famously called “defining deviancy down.”

The Obama Misery Index and the Rise of Obamavilles

March 7th, 2011 Rebel Ross 42 comments

I’ve noticed that Mitt has coined a new term, the “Obama Misery Index”. Mitt referenced the Obama Misery Index in his CPAC speech and then again Saturday night in New Hampshire.

“The consequence is soaring numbers of Americans enduring unemployment, foreclosures and bankruptcies,” he said. “This is the Obama Misery Index, and it is at a record high. It’s going to take more than new rhetoric to put Americans back to work—it’s going to take a new president.”

Here’s a brief description of the importance of the original misery index from Wikipedia:

During the Presidential campaign of 1976, Democratic candidate Jimmy Carter made frequent references to the Misery Index, which by the summer of 1976 was at 13.57%. Carter stated that no man responsible for giving a country a misery index that high had a right to even ask to be President. Carter won the 1976 election. However, by 1980, when President Carter was running for re-election against Ronald Reagan, the Misery Index had reached an all-time high of 21.98%. Carter lost the election to Reagan.

In this uncut interview from WMUR New Hampshire, Gov. Romney states that he and his staff will likely be creating a chart to illustrate the Obama Misery Index which is at an all-time high. We look forward to seeing that chart, and can’t wait to share it with as many people as we can.

Mitt’s coining of the Obama Misery Index provides a fantastic segue to another piece I’ve been meaning to write for a while now. I was recently talking to some fellow Romney supporters from other parts of the country and was surprised to find out that they hadn’t even heard of Obamavilles. This may be the most under-reported story of the Obama presidency.

Hopefully the picture of the Obamaville in Colorado to the left is familiar to most of you, but if it isn’t, here’s the story.

Since that story was written, Obamavilles have been slowly spreading across the country. This story references Obamavilles in Hawaii, Georgia, California, and Nevada. As you can read here, there is a growing concern about public safety as the reality of the rising Obama Misery Index (unemployment, foreclosures and bankruptcies which all contribute to the creation and growth of these tent cities) becomes harder and harder for us to ignore.

I live near Detroit, and our epidemic of homelessness has not been ignored. It’s been around for much longer than President Obama has been in office, so the media has no problem covering that story. However, what isn’t being covered is how much worse conditions have gotten for the poorest Americans as a result of President Obama’s policies. Check out this article from back in July: “Collapse in Living Standards in America: More Poverty By Any Measure“. That piece talks about how more than 15 million Americans are unemployed, homelessness has increased by 50 percent in some cities, and 38 million people are receiving food stamps which is more than at any time in the program’s almost 50-year history. Now that inflation is on the rise, Mideast unrest is spreading, oil prices are going up, violence on our Mexican border is increasing, and our national debt has risen to unacceptable levels, the Obama Misery Index may be rising for years to come.

The upper class has done relatively well during President Obama’s term, but members of the middle and lower classes are being squeezed beyond what many of them can bear. As Gov. Romney and others have stated numerous times, President Obama is destroying the entrepreneurial spirit of America that causes people to take risks in order to achieve more than they otherwise could in any other country in the world. I don’t want to turn this into an economics class, so feel free to comment below if you disagree or simply don’t know how President Obama’s policies have caused people to become more risk adverse and dependent on Government instead.

Welcome to Obamaville. If you don’t like it, then join us and spread this piece to other people you know. We need a new president because I don’t believe in Obamaville; I believe in America.

Are You Coming to CPAC? Mitt Wants to Know

January 31st, 2011 Rebel Ross 1 comment

So, I log onto Facebook today and my news feed contains the heartwarming news item about the birth of Mitt and Ann Romney’s 16th grandchild. Once I’m on Mitt’s facebook page, I notice that a new tab has been added to his page after “wall” and “info”. Mitt now has a tab devoted completely to CPAC 2011!

If you’re coming to CPAC Feb 10-12, please go to Mitt’s new CPAC 2011 tab, and let Mitt know you’re coming. Even if you aren’t coming, it looks like you can sign up to get updates during the conference in addition to the ones we here at MRC will be providing. If you’re still thinking about coming, but haven’t decided yet, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? This is going to be an amazing conference and probably the highest attended ever. Let’s get as many Romney supporters to CPAC as we can! It’ll be great to meet so many of you in person. Besides, Mitt gives one of his best speeches of the year each year at CPAC, and you won’t want to miss this year.

Also, CPAC just released the Agenda for this year’s conference, so check it out here. There are tons of other great speakers and seminars to attend and we still don’t know who will give the surprise address at the end of the conference. It was Glenn Beck last year and Rush Limbaugh the year before, so it should be a very compelling speaker whomever they choose.

Finally, we’re extremely thankful for the support so many of you have shown us to get a few more of us to the conference. Aaron, (previously unable to go), will now be joining myself (Ross) and Dave at the conference. If you want to help us send a few more team members to the conference or you just want to check out the progress made so far, click here.

~Update

Rumor has it, Mitt will be sending texts about where he is exactly during CPAC so anyone who signs up here will be the first to know where and when to find Mitt at CPAC.

Congressman Pence Introduces Bill to Defund Planned Parenthood of Taxpayer Dollars

January 12th, 2011 Rebel Ross 10 comments

This isn’t the first time we at Mitt Romney Central have highlighted the efforts of Congressman Mike Pence. The Republican Party is fortunate to have more staunch conservatives who are also very effective communicators than they used to.

While some may think it’s a mistake for us to highlight the efforts of a potential opponent to Gov. Romney for the 2012 Republican nomination for the presidency, we simply feel that the cause Congressman Pence is leading is too important to ignore. Plus, before we all get caught up in the upcoming primary season, it’s important to realize that we’re all on the same team.

Before pro-choice and pro-life activists start getting all riled up, make sure you are aware of what this bill is about. As many of us can remember from the health care debate, regardless of where people stand on the abortion issue at large, a vast majority of the country does not think it is appropriate for tax payer dollars to be spent on abortions. This bill won’t shut down Planned Parenthood or stop people from getting abortions. This bill simply will end the enormous mistake of causing all Americans who pay taxes to also be paying for abortions with some of those tax dollars. Even if you still think that we shouldn’t strip Planned Parenthood of their tax dollars, think about the budget deficit. Tax dollars have been going to far too many places they shouldn’t for far too long and hopefully this is just the beginning to getting the size of our government back in line.

This bill really is a no-brainer and if your representative hasn’t joined the other 123 co-sponsors yet, ask them to sign on.

If you still don’t know why this is such a big deal, check out this blog.

Below is Mike Pence’s statement followed by the video of his introduction of the bill on the house floor:

It is morally wrong to end an unborn human life by abortion. It is also morally wrong to take the taxpayer dollars of millions of pro-life Americans and use them to promote abortion at home or abroad.

Last year, Planned Parenthood received more than $363 million in revenue from government grants and contracts. During that same time, they performed an unprecedented 324,008 abortions.

The largest abortion provider in America should not also be the largest recipient of federal funding under Title X.

The Title X Abortion Provider Prohibition Act will prevent any family planning funds under Title X from going to Planned Parenthood or other organizations that perform abortions. It will ensure that abortion providers are not being subsidized with federal tax dollars.

I am grateful for the support of more than 122 original co-sponsors….

Mitt Romney’s Best Letter to His Donors so Far this Year

October 13th, 2010 Rebel Ross Comments off

Mitt’s sent out some inspirational letters to his donors this year, but this one is my favorite so far:

How does it feel to know that you’re helping throw a farewell party for the liberal Harry Reid-Nancy Pelosi agenda?

As one of my Free and Strong America PAC’s most generous members, you’re playing a big part in our efforts to reclaim majority control of Washington.

Thank you for that. Thank you for standing with me.

I have been incredibly busy traveling the country campaigning for our conservative candidates and meeting with voters. It is exciting and exhausting and inspiring and I won’t let up until we win. I know you won’t, either.

The other day, someone asked me why there is so much more passion surrounding this election than in other election years. It’s because people realize that Obama and the liberal majorities in Congress are taking our country down the wrong path.

The liberal politicians are just not listening to Americans.

Barack Obama’s approach is putting in jeopardy the very values that have made America the freest and strongest nation on earth. Liberals in Washington and in capitols across the country are attempting to smother the quintessential American values of freedom, opportunity, and innovation.

We will not let them do it

We’re doing what we conservatives have always done: standing up for our values. But more than that, we are standing up for America. For our troops. For our families. For our businesses. For our future.

The liberls promised that they would “fundamentally change the way Washington works.” They misled us. They are trying to change the way America works.

We will not let them do it.

What they believe and what the American people believe are not the same. The liberals believe in spending and borrowing on behalf of my generation even though it will bankrupt my children’s and granchildren’s generations. They believe that government knows best how to care for your health — not you, not your doctor. They believe that the rewards of success should be taken from the person who created them and given to those who did not.

That’s not how America works. It’s not what our Founding Fathers intended and it’s not what the American people want.

Right now, the liberals are running scared as they see their majority in jeopardy, so they are doing what they do best: spending money hand over fist. They are furiously pumping money into campaigns across the country to ensure their liberal candidates win and they can maintain control in Washington.

We will not let them do it.

The toughest phase of the campaign is now upon us and I’d be grateful if you give an additional contribution to help us elect conservative candidates.

Thank you for standing up for America.

Sincerely,
Mitt Romney

3 Weeks Until Election Day 2010 – What are You Doing to Bring America Back?

October 12th, 2010 Rebel Ross 5 comments

One of my favorite videos on YouTube has the tag-line: “Bring America Back – Mitt Romney for President in 2012″. The video is included below in case you haven’t seen it yet or you just want something to put a little extra pep in your step.

Here at Mitt Romney Central, we’ve spent much of our energy covering many of the ways that Mitt Romney is working his keister off to elect conservative candidates around the county. People need look no further than the extensive list of candidates his Free & Strong America PAC is supporting for the upcoming elections. Mitt follows up most of his endorsements with monetary donations, physical appearances to raise the profile of these candidates and often raise even more money, and even share donor lists sometimes (I think).

Mitt is doing everything to Bring America Back like we want him to. However, the problems our country is facing require that as many of us as possible do what we can in our spheres of influence to help. All of us here at MRC want Mitt Romney to be our next President, but a President can only do so much. We need to elect as many conservative candidates to offices ranging from local city councils all the way up to Congress as we can.

This brings me to the big question that I hope many of you will answer in the comments of this post. With only three weeks left until the biggest election day until 2012, what are you personally doing to make a difference?

As you can see by looking at the Team here at MRC, we are spread out around the country and we are all focusing on some races closest to us where we can make a difference. I’d love to hear which races you are focusing on and what you’re doing to help those candidates win.

UPDATE: Just a day after we publish this piece, Politico has released a piece highlighting many specific ways that Mitt is helping conservatives around the country. Check it out for yourself here.

The Free & Strong America PAC Releases a New Video and Announces West Virginia and Maryland Endorsements

September 28th, 2010 Rebel Ross Comments off

UPDATE by Jayde 9:29 AM PST: This is the perfect place to insert a North Star National opinion piece that was published today – Romney speaks, and echoes of Reagan fill my ears:

Besides returning sanity back to the country by flipping the House and stalling the Senate, you know what I’m most excited about this year? Mitt Romney about to start showing some more face than he’s been giving us lately, thanks to that looming year ahead, 2-0-1-2.

Right now, he’s camping in New Hampshire, and his recent appearance at the New Hampshire Republican State Committee will definitely give you a taste of what his you-know-it’s-coming presidential bid is going to bring. And boy do we need it now.

No apologies.

After this primary season, Romney’s uniting leadership could certainly heal many wounds and bring us back together. If we can get him to the general election, I’d certainly bet on a landslide win followed by a victory and a presidency the GOP can put into its Reagan Hall of Fame.

What did he say? What did he do?

This man has Reagan down. He’s got the witty little stories with the funny lines. Some of the humor is self-deprecating, as appropriate Reagan-ness would proscribe. He’s very incorporative of his family in his stories, appearances and the like. And bonus, his message is very “we” the people, “we” the Republicans, “we” the future.

He can talk about the character of our country, relate it to something he’s an expert at, i.e., business (which could be a snore if he wasn’t so damn good at speaking), and turn it into a moment of inspiration for Americans.
[...]

Don’t miss reading more here.

On 9/27/2010, Mitt Romney’s Free and Strong America PAC announced the following four West Virginia endorsements and committed a total of $12,500 to their individual campaign committees:

Congresswoman Shelley Moore Capito represents the 2nd Congressional District of West Virginia and is running for reelection.

Spike Maynard previously served the people of West Virginia on the state Supreme Court and is now running to represent the 3rd Congressional District of West Virginia.

David McKinley, a small businessman and former state legislator, is now running to represent the 1st Congressional District of West Virginia.

————————————————————————-

Then, today, Mitt Romney’s Free and Strong America PAC announced the endorsement of four Maryland candidates:

Bob Ehrlich has previously served the people of Maryland as a Congressman and as Governor. He is now running to once again serve the people of Maryland as Governor.

Congressman Roscoe Bartlett currently represents the 6th Congressional District of Maryland, and is running for reelection.

Andy Harris, a physician and Maryland State Senator, is now running to represent the 1st Congressional District of Maryland.

Charles Lollar, a business executive and Major in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve, is now running to represent the 5th Congressional District of Maryland.
