AS many of you know I’ve joined forces with Chuck DeVore in his campaign to defeat Barbara Boxer in the Senate. Here’s our first viral video. Help us get the word out to help Chuck: Make a contribution today.
HH: Well Governor, I want to get to all that. We’ve got a lot of time. I want to get to the fair tax, I want to get to a number of things. But obviously, the headlines about the book do concern Romney. And I went through it, line by line, page by page, read the whole thing. There are more mentions of Romney in this book that there are of either John McCain or even of your campaign manager, Chip Saltzman. Do you regret the focus at the end on your opponent?
MH: No, I don’t, because I think a lot of the focus during the campaign was about Mitt Romney. And the reason I didn’t talk more about John McCain, though I talk about him quite a bit, was that the book was put to bed after the primary had completed. I wanted to be careful not to say something that might be harmful to John McCain’s candidacy. And Mitt Romney and I were both out of the race. I talked about Fred Thompson, Rudy Giuliani, but I don’t think I was unfair, and I don’t think I was untrue. Everything in the book, I think I can back up. And there’s not a thing in that book that isn’t verifiable and factual.
HH: Governor, you don’t mention the word Mormon once in this book. Is that…
Congratulations to Barack Obama and his supporters. It was a tremendous campaign with innumerable turns and twists that left us hanging right until the end. America should be proud of the journey it has taken (and will take) with President-elect Obama. Many thanks to all of you who engaged me thoughtfully in dialogue in support and in opposition to my chosen candidates. My prayers this day are for President-elect Obama and the country.
Two other personal notes. I will continue blogging on MyManmitt.com and Credo.
Lastly, for those of you who are disappointed this morning I want to call your attention to a new business venture I’m involved in.
Stin Hansen is an extraordinary person. She and I have just launched a website and iPhone application for guided meditations.
Frank Schubert has been involved in over 30 ballot initiatives in his lifetime but he’s never experienced anything like Proposition 8. Yesterday, I was asked to be part of a blogger conference call with Schubert who heads up the Yes on 8 movement.
Bottom line: This race is almost over. Tensions are high. Expectations are tempered but the general feeling is that Proposition 8 will prevail. Read the whole thing here
MyClob, who has done a great job detailing every minutia of Mitt Romney’s primary run, is flat dead wrong on this one. His usual approach to bringing an unbiased articulation to his wiki-like entries has failed him this time.
Mike – if you’re gonna lambaste Palin for something at least have the decency to quote her directly. No one knows what you’re referring to?
I’ll have more later but right now I’ve gotta slap up MyClob a bit.
DailyKos is determined to make the debate around Proposition 8 a personal fight. They have mustered their forces to dig up dirt on people (and particularly Mormons) who have contributed to Protect Marriage. More details here.
