Million A Day For Brown, Video: ‘Cool Cat’ Obama Showing Claws

January 15th, 2010 Jayde Wyatt 2 comments

Avalanche support for Scott Brown is said to be garnering a million a day for his campaign. Let’s not kid ourselves – he’ll need every penny. The opposition has awakened and is scrambling to alert the Ted Kennedy crowd about the growing momentum for Brown. Martha Coakley is running negative ads round the clock. Bill Clinton and John Kerry are coming to town. Vickie Kennedy (widow of Ted Kennedy) is speaking against Brown and flooding Massachusetts with letters pleading for Martha money. Newt Gingrich remarked to Sean Hannity (FOX News) on his program last night that unions are reportedly bussing in bodies from Baltimore and Philadelphia to add muscle to Coakley’s campaign.

Knowledgeable sources in Massachusetts tell The Daily Caller that Republican candidate for Senate, Scott Brown, has raised at least $1 million dollars every day this week, most of it online.

Although Brown’s campaign touted Monday’s money-bomb fundraiser that brought in $1.3 million dollars, the campaign declined to confirm totals for other days this week.

“I can’t comment on figures,” said spokesman Felix Browne.

While poll numbers show a Republican win is plausible in the state where Sen. Ted Kennedy long served, neither the RNC nor NRSC has sent much money north.

Brown will face Democrat Martha Coakley in the special election for the Massachusetts Senate seat on Tuesday.

If there is anyone in America who doesn’t think Barack Obama is twitching his whiskers over the MA special election, the cat is out of the bag. The ‘cool cat’ isn’t so confident in Coakley’s abilities to carry his agenda to victory. Here’s Obama’s hastily crafted video (made 1/14/10):

Obama’s ‘rally the alley cats’ message to pounce on the potential vote which would bring a halt to his confiscation of the health care industry coincides with the secret deals made in the last two days:

President Obama summoned House and Senate Democratic leaders to the White House late Thursday to discuss an apparent breakthrough in health care reform negotiations — on the make-or-break issue of taxing high-value health plans and other issues.

After enduring months of criticism that he was too detached from negotiations — criticism mostly expressed in Democratic cloakrooms on Capitol Hill — Obama has jumped in with both feet. He has personalized a marathon push to land a health care deal this week or early next week, telling lawmakers and key stakeholders that he will not tolerate failure and that compromises, even hard ones, must be achieved on a tight schedule.

House and Senate negotiators resumed marathon talks with Obama at the White House around 9 p.m. Thursday. The president left the Cabinet Room meeting shortly after 1 a.m. Friday and the session ended about 25 minutes later.

In a statement, the White House said “solid progress” was made toward a final package. The meeting came after most of the same lawmakers spent more than eight hours at the White House on Wednesday trying to hammer out a deal.

The breakthrough announced Thursday was a byproduct of the previous days talks: a deal on so-called “Cadillac” insurance plans. The White House and top union leaders heralded the agreement, which shields all union workers for five years from significant taxes on health benefit packages that non-union workers will face starting in 2013.

In summary, Obama has crafted a sneaky overnight deal that gives unions and government employees a FIVE year exemption from the health care tax. This translates to a $60 BILLION gift which WE will have to pay.

If Obamacare is so good, why do so many need exemptions to get it passed? I guess the bill is only good if  paying for it doesn’t apply to you. Is this what our Founding Fathers had in mind?

Obama’s hissing cats on Capitol Hill and in Massachusetts need to be run up a tree.

ELECT SCOTT BROWN! End the health care reform farce!

UPDATE: Obama WILL campaign personally for Coakley as Massachusetts Senate race tightens.

Republican state Sen. Scott Brown is running neck-and-neck with Coakley in recent polls of the Bay State as both vie for the Senate seat long held by Edward M. Kennedy  The winner of Tuesday’s special election will become the first person not closely affiliated with the Kennedy family to hold the seat since 1952.

The White House had been saying for days that the president had “no plans” to go to Massachusetts, but the loss of the Senate seat would greatly complicate, if not doom, the fate of health-care reform legislation moving through Congress.

White House officials played down the significance of the president’s trip, saying only that Obama is happy to be able to accept the campaign’s invitation.

Scott Brown's Op-Ed: A New Day is Coming

January 14th, 2010 Jayde Wyatt 4 comments

Scott Brown wrote a straightforward op-ed piece for the Boston Globe today. He shares his thoughts on the three topics that are the focus of his campaign: taxes, terror, and health care. Referencing the Massachusetts health care program, he concurs with Mitt Romney that there is always room for improvement, but he likes the plan. He also emphasizes that MA residents are insured through PRIVATE health insurance companies.

A new day is coming: restore faith and balance
By Scott Brown
January 14, 2010

I DIDN’T grow up with all the advantages in life. My mom was on welfare for a time, but I had the support of a loving family and good friends and neighbors. I don’t have all the advantages in this race either, and that’s fine by me. Being the underdog has taught me to work harder, and to appreciate the opportunities of our state and our country.

I’m running because more of our people are unemployed today than ever before. Public debt has reached $12 trillion and counting, and Washington politicians want to borrow trillions more. Terrorists want to strike our country again, and they will do so if we let down our guard. We have fighting forces in two theaters of war, and those men and women need our support.

Like everyone else, I want to see more Americans with good health care coverage. I like what we achieved in Massachusetts. It’s not perfect, but nearly everyone is now covered by a private insurance policy – not a government policy. I hope other states follow our example.

But the healthcare bill under discussion in Washington is not good. It will raise taxes and increase spending. If you are a senior on Medicare, it will lead to a half trillion dollars in cuts to your care. Since we are way ahead of the rest of the country with our own state reforms, we will get nothing in return. My opponent, Martha Coakley, will vote yes on this bill. I will insist we start over.

Failure should be admitted in Washington, and not repeated. With last month’s news that we lost another 85,000 jobs, and with unemployment stuck in the double digits, it’s time to admit that while the $787 billion stimulus had the best of intentions, it failed to create one new job. We shouldn’t pass yet another stimulus that adds to the debt without adding jobs.

My plan for the economy is simple: an across-the-board tax cut – in the tradition of John F. Kennedy – for families and businesses that will increase investment and lead to immediate new job growth. More tax increases will hurt our recovery. That’s why I have taken a no-new-tax pledge. My opponent will raise taxes.

Amid all our domestic challenges, our nation is still at war with radical Islamic terrorists determined to destroy our way of life. The Christmas bombing attempt on a Northwest Airlines plane is a wake-up call. But instead of being interrogated by military professionals at Guantanamo, the plane bomber has been given taxpayer-funded lawyers in a US courtroom. Because he’s been granted constitutional rights, he’s invoked his privilege to remain silent. Would-be killers should be treated for what they really are: enemies of a country at war, not ordinary criminals.

My opponent would accord such terrorists all the rights our Constitution grants to citizens. I will treat them as enemy combatants who should face military justice.

As this special election draws to a close, the enthusiasm from everyday citizens has been remarkable. To those who have lost faith in their elected leaders, I say: Don’t lose heart. One-party dominance in our state has led to bad decisions and a culture of corruption, but we can restore people’s faith by restoring balance to our political system.

They call me a long shot. But I’m betting that a new day is coming in Massachusetts. I am running in the name of all independent-thinking citizens, whether they are Democrats, Republicans, or unenrolled, to take on one-party rule, and the Beacon Hill bosses, and their machine, and their candidate. With your help, I intend to win.

Brown/Coakley Race Heats Up

January 13th, 2010 Jayde Wyatt 1 comment

Get your fans out! With Rasmussen showing a dead-heat between Scott Brown and Martha Coakley, things are heating up. Today’s update is a big one because this has become a very BIG topic.

Immediately following Brown’s successful $1.3 million Moneybomb campaign on Monday, Jan 11, Martha Coakley was rattled. So, what did she do? She pow-wowed with her corrupt cronies and pulled out the negative ads.

In response, Brown’s accomplished 21 year-old daughter, American-Idol-contestant-basketball-player, *Ayla Brown spoke out yesterday. (The Boston Herald’s front-page treatment of Ayla described her as ‘morphing into campaign pit bull’.)

Ayla Brown:

“Her attack [Martha Coakley] on my dad is completely inaccurate and misleading. I’m here today to say that Martha Coakley should take down her negative ad. Martha Coakley’s new negative ad represents everything that discourages young women from getting involved in politics, and as a young woman, I’m completely offended by that. She even spelled Massachusetts wrong in her original ad which is very embarrassing, I must say as a young woman.”

A quick-time response released today from the MA Republican Party:

Seeing highly prized senate VOTE # 60 wobbling, the Obama health care machine has sprung into action. A fundraiser **’Unity Event’ (as Martha characterized it) was held in Washington D.C. (Sonoma) at the Capitol Hill restaurant last night for Coakley.  A legion of lobbyists for health insurance companies, hospitals, and drug companies sponsored the leftist rendesvouz:

Washington Examiner:

Of the 22 names on the host committee–meaning they raised $10,000 or more for Coakley–17 are federally registered lobbyists, 15 of whom have health-care clients. Of the other five hosts, one is married to a lobbyist, one was a lobbyist in Pennsylvania, another is a lawyer at a lobbying firm, and another is a corporate CEO. Oh, and of course, there’s also the political action commitee for Boston Scientific Corporation.

All the leading drug companies have lobbyists on Coakley’s host committee: Pfizer, Merck, Amgen, Sanofi-Aventis, Eli Lilly, Novartis, Astra-Zeneca, and more. On the insurance side of things, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Cigna, Humana, HealthSouth, and United Health all are represented on the host committee.

Following Coakley’s ‘Unity Event’ Weekly Standard reporter John McCormack was roughed up by a Coakley aide:

After the event concluded, Coakley took two questions from the media but declined to say whether or not she stands by her statement at last night’s debate that there aren’t any terrorists in Afghanistan (and that they’ve all gone to Pakistan or Yemen).

After taking a question from a CNN reporter on the street outside the restaurant, I asked her:

TWS: Attorney General Coakley, you said last night that there are no terrorists in Afghanistan–that they’re all in Yemen and Pakistan. Do you stand by that remark?

COAKLEY: I’m sorry, did someone else have a question?

GRIFF JENKINS, Fox News: I did. Why are you in Washington tonight?

COAKLEY: We planned an event after the primary that would be a unity event in Washington. We’re also in the middle of a very intense campaign [...]

After Coakley finished her answer, she began walking away from the restaurant, and I walked behind her asking why health care industry lobbyists were supporting her at the fundraiser. She didn’t reply.

As I walked down the street, a man who appeared to be associated with the Coakley campaign pushed me into a freestanding metal railing. I ended up on the sidewalk. I was fine. He helped me up from the ground, but kept pushing up against me, blocking my path toward Coakley down the street.

He asked if I was with the media, and I told him I work for THE WEEKLY STANDARD. When I asked him who he worked for he replied, “I work for me.” He demanded to see my credentials, and even though it was a public street, I showed them to him.

I eventually got around him and met up with the attorney general halfway down the block.

“Attorney General, could I ask you a question please?” I said. “We’re done, thanks,” Coakley replied. She walked back toward the restaurant, apparently searching for her car. She remained silent as I (politely) repeated my question.

Coakley staffers told me they didn’t know who the man was who pushed me, though by every indication he was somehow connected to the campaign.

Coakley thug roughs up Weekly Standard reporter John McCormack:

After the pharmaceutical fundraiser and before the reporter dust-up, Coakley took time to smear Scott Brown:

Coakley: “If I don’t win, 2010 is going to be hell for Democrats.”

The plot thickens… As former president Bill Clinton and Senator John Kerry rush to Coakley’s side, the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) has shelled out $567,000 to run ads in the Springfield and Bostons markets. And, SURPRISE! SEIU has purchased $685,000 in advertising against Brown:

“Before you vote for Senate, here’s a few things you should know about Scott Brown,” a narrator pontificates in the 30-second spot. “He has repeatedly opposed a woman’s right to choose” and he “expresses skepticism that climate change is being caused by humans.”
“No wonder Brown’s campaign is being supported by the same extremist group that backs Sarah Palin,” the narrator explains. “Martha Coakley for Senate. Massachusetts values.”
Brown is depicted in black and white and speaking slow-motion. The ad ends with a quicker pace and a color photo of Coakley.

**Coakley’s pharma-fundraiser invitation, January 12, 2010:

With so much at stake, the next six days are going to be toad’s wild ride. Thank goodness Scott Brown is staying above the fray, blocking the punches, and continuing to inspire all of us.

Stay tuned…

Scott Brown’s MONEYBOMB Explodes! Video: Greta Van Susteren and Brown

January 12th, 2010 Jayde Wyatt Comments off

“Today, our movement has invested $1,303,302.50 to win on January 19 and I am so grateful for the support and the faith that you have in us!” – Scott Brown’s final late-night Twitter comment  January 11, 2010

With an original goal of raising $500,000 yesterday, the end result of Brown’s MONEYBOMB has triggered a political tremor that will be felt all the way to the White House. The next few days will be interesting. Seeing Martha Coakley on the fault line, Democrats will be sending Bill Clinton and others to re-fit her campaign with rallying rhetoric.

Early on, Mitt Romney’s endorsement of Brown brought national focus to the senatorial special election to be held on January 19th. Following Romney’s example, Mitt Romney Central is zeroing in on this crucial contest between Brown and Martha Coakley. It was a thrill to be part of a large network of bloggers to help with yesterday’s extraordinary fundraising efforts for Brown. Thanks to all who participated on this site to make a memorable day. Now, on to electing the first Republican senator in Massachusetts in 30 years – Scott Brown!

Greta Van Susteren interviewed Brown last night regarding his riveting bid for Ted Kennedy’s senatorial seat in MA:

Van Susteren: Good evening Senator and, boy, this is an exciting race – not just in your state but you’re going to determine what happens in the United States Senate – whether it’s filibuster proof or not.

Brown: Well, that’s true. This race affects everybody in the country. Not only here, obviously, in Massachusetts, but everybody. As the 41st Senator I can stop what’s happening in Washington. All the backroom deals you’re talking about are outrageous.

UPDATE:
Is a Close Call a Victory for GOP?
Politico 11/12/10
By Alex Isenstadt and Jonathon Martin

In the wake of several recent public polls signaling that the Jan. 19 Massachusetts Senate special election is more competitive than anyone expected, both parties are moving aggressively to frame the narrative that emerges the next day.

For Democrats, who have been jolted by the unexpectedly close race for the late Sen. Ted Kennedy’s seat, the message is simple: A win is a win. State Attorney General Martha Coakley’s margin of victory is irrelevant.

For Republicans, however, the story line is more complex. The GOP admits to the uphill nature of the race in heavily Democratic Massachusetts but believes that state Sen. Scott Brown’s got a good shot at winning. More important, they note, a valiant, close loss counts as a win because it will be a sign of deep discontent with Democratic policies even in a blue-state citadel.

“The implications of a Scott Brown victory would be cataclysmic for national Democrats,” said Rick Wilson, a veteran GOP ad man. “If you thought New Jersey or Virginia had national implications for Democrats, then Scott Brown even getting this close to the kill zone sends a message that Republicans can compete anywhere.”

*Martha Coakley has released a new ad attacking Scott Brown. In it, she misspells ‘Massachusetts’.

Update 2: FOX news is reporting that Martha Coakley is attending a fundraiser today in Washington D.C. which includes meeting with health care lobbyists and health care industry lobbyists.

Update: Free and Strong America PAC

January 11th, 2010 Jayde Wyatt 2 comments

It’s a busy news day here at Mitt Romney Central!

I received this positive and forward-thinking email from Mitt Romney today. I’m sure many of you did, too. Let’s budget our funds and make whatever sacrifices are necessary to support Romney’s Free and Strong America PAC.  This is the year we’ve been waiting for and now is the time for patriots to pay!  For those who may have missed his latest update, here it is:

It seems that almost every day now brings a fresh story of another well-known Democrat incumbent not seeking re-election. And in 9 days from now, what many thought was unthinkable may happen — Republican Scott Brown may be elected to late Senator Kennedy’s seat in Massachusetts. If successful, Scott would be the first Republican Senator in Massachusetts in 30 years.

I know Scott and how determined he is to win. I’ve campaigned for him, raised money on his behalf and we’re doing all we can to help him over the finish line.

Something is brewing in Massachusetts and all over the country, and I have a prediction to make — for our cause, and for all those who speak for it with no apology, this will be our year.

The conservative movement is gaining momentum every day and we must keep it going during the weeks and months ahead. This all-important midterm election year will have far-reaching consequences and we must do everything we can to elect conservative candidates throughout the country.

That is why I am writing to ask you to take the extraordinary step of signing up to make a recurring monthly contribution of $25, $50, $100, $250 or whatever amount you can afford to my Free and Strong America PAC . Your generous monthly support will ensure that we have the resources to continue our efforts to help Republicans take back the House and Senate in November.

Of course, nothing is certain in politics, but we can be certain about this: Our belief in the greatness of America and our dedication to keeping this nation strong are needed today as much as they have ever been needed in our past. I hope you will stand with me today.

Best,

Mitt Romney

P.S. Even if you don’t wish to make a recurring monthly contribution at this time, I hope you will consider making a one time contribution toward our efforts of $25, $50, $100, $250, $500, $1,000 $2,500 or even the maximum $5,000 . Your early support will go a long way toward laying the foundation for Republican victories in November.

Don’t forget to send some dollars to help Scott Brown’s MONEYBOMB campaign today. He’s aiming for $500,000. If 25,000 of us contribute just $20 before the day ends, he’ll have met his goal and be ready to scrimmage next week with Coakley!

UPDATE by Aaronius from Rebel Ross: Pawlenty, RedState, Race42012, Politico, and I’m sure many more are now publicizing the moneybomb and the graphic has officially been updated to reflect the $750,000 goal. As of 5:00 PM EST, the moneybomb has raised $626,375.87 which changes the projection to $1.1 million! CLICK HERE to go to the donate page.

UPDATE 2 (from Jayde via Rebel Ross): At 6:30 PM EST, the Brown campaign has passed $750,000 and has officially moved the goal to $1 million! The final debate begins at 7:00 PM and should bring even more Massachusetts attention to Brown’s outstanding day. It will give him a fantastic final argument when all the politicos in Massachusetts are watching and the people are deciding whom to throw their support behind. Scott Brown’s momentum is unquestioned right now, but let’s keep it up! We have 5 and a half hours to go!

Hugh Hewitt shares his thoughts about a Massachusetts Miracle:

Jan 11, 2010
Scott Brown is an impressive candidate — intelligent, experienced, good-humored and handsome.

Brown’s record of public service is distinguished as well. Not only is he in his third term as a state senator, he served three terms before that as a state representative. More impressive than even that, however, is his service in uniform.

As his Web site, www.brownforussenate.com: “Senator Brown is a proud member of the Massachusetts National Guard, where he has served for nearly three decades and currently holds the rank of Lt. Colonel in the Judge Advocate Generals (JAG) Corps.”

There are only three things wrong with Sen. Brown.

He is a die-hard red Boston Red Sox fan.

He is a die-hard New England Patriots fan.

And he is a Republican running for the Senate in Massachusetts. This is the special election to fill the seat held by the late Sen. Ted Kennedy, and the vote is on Jan. 19.

In any other state this year, Brown would be ahead of his opponent, Democratic Rep. Martha Coakley, a conventional Bay State liberal who supports the failed stimulus bill, the takeover of health care and every other big-government push of Team Obama.

In any other year in this state, Brown would be behind by 30 points.

But he is within single digits and closing, held back only by a lack of funds and the stark reality of the political demographics of the commonwealth.

When Brown appeared on my radio show this week, he was upbeat and energized by an enormous populist surge across Massachusetts, where Obamacare is every bit as disliked as it is everywhere else in the United States.

Massachusetts already has universal care, thanks to the initiative sponsored by then-Gov. Mitt Romney of a few years back, so all of the massive new taxes in the federal takeover will buy Massachusetts citizens zip, even as seniors get hammered by the huge cuts to Medicare. If Brown wins, Obamacare is back to the drawing board, which is tempting many Bay State voters to take a hard look at Brown.

When Romney appeared on my show last week to support Brown’s push, he noted that Republicans can indeed win in Massachusetts as he did, by combining the conservative base in the state with the old Yankee temperament and sound fiscal policies. William Weld almost beat John Kerry a few years ago in a Senate race, and Romney himself gave Teddy a scare in 1994.

Still, the built-in partisan edge for any Democrat is enormous, even one with the barely noticeable political pulse of Coakley, who is running as an assumption, not a candidate. If Brown is close when the smoke clears on Jan. 20, still another message will have been sent to D.C. that an enormous voter revolt is under way, fueled by deep disgust with the jam-downs and takeovers pushed by the left-wing elites controlling the Democratic Party.

If Brown were actually to win, it would be among the most significant votes ever registered in a Senate race, a statement of “Stop!” that not even House Speaker Nancy Pelosi could spin.

Which is why hundreds of thousands of dollars in $50 and $100 contributions have been flowing in to Brown’s Web site for the past two weeks from across the country, a cash infusion that, if it continues these next couple of days, will allow him to be on television over the crucial weekend ahead.

Massachusetts Democrats and independents have it in their power to stop Obamacare and then return the seat to Democratic hands when the regular election is held, perhaps even to someone from the Kennedy family political trust.

In this very wired age, a strategic vote of that sort is not only possible, it almost certainly will occur in large numbers as old-school Democrats and especially union members, angered by the left-wing elites’ refusal to listen to their organizations’ opposition to the tax on so-called “Cadillac health plans,” decide to send a message.

Brown put himself in a position to win by running a near-perfect campaign. Now the Bay State voters have a real choice with enormous implications. It is the first vote of a crucial year in American history, and for the first time in a long time, Massachusetts has people guessing what it will do.

Moderate Democrats Challenge Coakley, Reid, Pelosi and Support Scott Brown

January 10th, 2010 Jayde Wyatt 4 comments

Moderate Democrats at HillBuzz support Scott Brown! Here is what they had to say on January 9, 2010:

Hear us now Harry Reid.

Mark our words Deval Patrick.

Listen up William Galvin.

Pay attention Martha Coakley.

Tremble at the thought Nancy Pelosi.

If you dare defy the will of the people of the state of Massachusetts and indeed, as threatened, block the seating of Senator Scott Brown should he win the special election on January 19th, in your suicidal and insane quest to ram your unconstitutional and bribe-riddled Healthcare Rationing bill through the United States Senate, WE THE PEOPLE in order to establish a more perfect union shall MARCH UPON WASHINGTON to setup an office for UNITED STATES SENATOR SCOTT BROWN on our own.

On the steps of the Capitol if we have to.

Where Senator Brown will become the 41st vote of reason against your madness, and throngs of Americans of all walks of life will travel to the capital to stand with him as we begin our quest to drive every last Liberal from Congress like the snakes from Ireland.

Your schemes will not work.

Your plot won’t go unchallenged.

Your usurpation of the will of the people will not be tolerated.

If you have any gods, pray to them now, because a reckoning is coming.

We here at HillBuzz are moderate Democrats who want all of your heads on a platter at this point. We can only imagine what people who never liked you to begin with are feeling now that it’s been announced you wish to disregard the Massachusetts election and lock Senator Brown out before he’s even elected.

If you think we’re a pain in your collective ass on the Internets…just wait ’till we come to Washington to scream at you in person.

On the steps of the Capitol if we must…

which will become Senator Brown’s Office in Exile if it needs to be.

YOU’VE GONE TOO FAR THIS TIME.

Awake, slumbering giant!

AWAKE!!!

BRAVO! Let’s get Scott Brown elected and working on taxes, terror, and health care in his new office on Capitol Hill!

Obama Strategy: Dilute, Pollute, Refute the Rising Wave of Reform

January 9th, 2010 Jayde Wyatt 5 comments

It’s absolutely stunning to see the turn-around in poll numbers as they drop for Barack Obama in just 11 months into his presidency. The number of self-identified Democrats sunk in December to the lowest level recorded in more than seven years of tracking. Senators Chris Dodd (D-Connecticut) and Byron Dorgan (D-North Dakota) will not seek re-election. Michigan Democrat Lt. Gov John Cherry has pulled the plug on his campaign for governor and Colorado’s Democrat Governor *Bill Ritter announced that he will not seek re-election. In late December, former Democrat freshman Rep Parker Griffith switched to the Republican party.

The recent victories of Governors-Elect Chris Christie (R-New Jersey) and Bob McDonnell (R-Virginia) indicates good things ahead. The possibility of Scott Brown (R-Massachusetts) being elected to fill Ted Kennedy’s seat is thrilling. Conservative and Independent ranks are growing.

The waves of REAL change are washing across America. But will the rising waters of reform be enough to cleanse America’s soul?

Read the chilling and diabolical workings on how Obama’s radical power brokers plan to muddy the waters by gaming the system when you next step up to the ballot box:

January 8, 2010
Obama and the White House Chicago Boys
Ed Linsky – American Thinker

Signs are emerging that the Chicago Boys — the triumvirate of Obama, Emanuel, and Axlerod — are up to their old tricks, as I touched upon in a previous American Thinker column. My recent interest was piqued by two news items that floated across my screen in the last week.

One was the release of the White House visitor logs that showed visits by Anna Burger, Secretary-Treasurer of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) and named by Fortune Magazine as “the most powerful woman in the labor movement. ” We know Andy Stern, head of the SEIU, routinely visits the White House and has boasted of the tens of millions of dollars and man-hours the union spent in electing Barack Obama to the presidency. We can expect a repeat performance come 2012.

But Anna Burger is far more than an SEIU honcho; she also is the vice-chairman of a shadowy group called the ” Democracy Alliance,” composed of billionaire funders and savvy political operatives who set out a few years ago to change politics as we know it in America. Among their projects was something called the Secretary of States Project that set about electing secretaries of state in key battleground states.

These are the very officials who are charged with maintaining the integrity of the voting process. Recall the controversies in Ohio and Minnesota — including ACORN problems — regarding the accuracy of the votes in those states last year? The secretaries of state who gave a stamp of approval to these elections (where Democrats won) were Democrats supported by the Democracy Alliance. Various state chapters of the Democracy Alliance have formed to use a range of controversial methods to ensure Democratic victories. (See “The Colorado Model” by Fred Barnes for a display of the type of tactics that can be used to manipulate elections. These include creating faux controversies, spreading them through supposedly non-partisan groups created by Democrat activists, and relying on an echo chamber effect until the mainstream media picks up the “story” and broadcasts it far and wide. Other groups are formed to harass journalists and editorial writers who don’t push the liberal line.)

The Democracy Alliance has helped form front groups to get Democrats elected. David Axelrod is a master at this type of tactic.

The Alliance’s handiwork played a role in the victory of Al Franken over Norm Coleman, which helped secure a sixty-seat majority in the Senate. There was a group — Alliance for a Better Minnesota — that posed as a group of concerned citizens. The Alliance was funded by outsiders, namely the wealthy, hyper-partisan Democrats behind the Democracy Alliance. This was a so-called astrotruf group: it falsely appeared to be a true grassroots effort.

Tellingly, the Obama team has killed off disclosure rules mandating that unions reveal how they spend the billions of their members’ union dues. These, in turn, are often poured into “front groups” and other “funds” each year. Anyone care to wager whether these funds will flow to help Democrats? Thanks to Obama, we will never know. So much for transparency. But we do have change.

The second item that sparked my interest was Obama’s move to ditch the superdelegates’ role in nominating Democratic candidates for the presidency.

These superdelegates include Democratic members of Congress, national party figures, and established leaders of the Democratic Party. They vote at the nominating convention. The system was established in the wake of the 1972 Democratic Party nominating process, when anti-war radicals seized control of the party and ended up nominating George McGovern. The superdelegates were supposed to ensure that radicals did not take over the party’s nominating process. Well, apparently that sort of restraint does not appeal to Obama, who now has taken steps to shape the nominating process to play to his preferred territory: the caucuses, where his brand of populism holds sway. The Wall Street Journal noted the trick:

One reason for the superdelegates in the first place is the disproportionate role of activists in states like Iowa, which rely on caucuses rather than primaries. Mrs. Clinton held in her own in the primary states but Mr. Obama crushed her in the caucus states where his supporters found it easy to dominate proceedings where older and frequently busier people weren’t able to invest the time to counter them. Take the case of Texas, which has both a caucus and a primary: Mrs. Clinton won the state’s primary in which 2.8 million people voted, but Mr. Obama so controlled the caucuses where far fewer people (some 800,000) participated that he ended up with more delegates overall. The new rules, if approved, would likely mean even more of the same.

Since Obama’s policies are sacrificing the careers of Democratic congressmen to fulfill his agenda, these politicians may withhold their support at a future nominating convention. What is the solution? Remove them from the equation by stripping their vote. Out they go, joining the ever-increasing number of bodies under the bus.

Of course, the boys who earned their stripes in the rough-and-tumble world of Chicago politics (where the phrase “vote early and vote often” should be the city’s motto) will not stop there in their drive to win.

Why should they? Customs, rules, ethics, and traditions were thrown under the bus to get ObamaCare bills passed by the House and the Senate. Why stop there when there are so many ways to skin Americans? Skullduggery comes naturally.

There are other cards to play (and Obama is an avid poker player).

How else will the Chicago Boys game the system and gin up victories?

While that [ACORN census] seems to be off the plate for now, there is still the prospect that sampling may be used to collect census figures. That is a statistical method that has been denounced by, among others, John Fund of the Wall Street Journal as a formula that could be abused to exaggerate the number of residents of certain states and municipalities. This would affect the number of House seats awarded to each state. Those figures also play a role in the amount of federal funding flowing to those areas. Those are also the very figures used to determine electoral votes.

Will census figures compiled by community groups chosen by this administration be reliable? Remember that this team earned their stripes in Chicago and has ties to ACORN, which is embroiled in voter registration and other scandals across our nation.

There will be a strong desire to boost numbers in blue states, especially since red states seem poised to pick up seats and electoral votes, as people vote with their feet and move to red states. This won’t do for the Obama team — not at all.

So what to do? Fool ‘em with some other numbers, this time the ones with dollar signs in front of them. But the Chicago Boys may have tipped their hands by revealing one of their cards:

The government, reports The Hill newspaper, will target $80 million of those dollars to racial and ethnic minorities and non-English speakers — groups that vote disproportionately Democratic. Nor will Democrats permit efforts to limit the count to those here legally. An effort by Sen. David Vitter (R., La.) to exclude illegal aliens from the count went nowhere.

Illegal aliens don’t (usually) vote of course. But when they are counted in the Census they do affect representation in Congress. So some of the money you pay in taxes will go toward increasing the legislative clout of one party.

And those illegal aliens will also boost electoral votes of those blue states. We can also expect a campaign to allow felons to regain their right to vote. Anything to boost those numbers and rack up some wins.

But wait, there’s more.

The push to “Rahm” through universal voter registration is a ploy ripe for voter fraud, as noted so well by my American Thinker colleague James Simpson in his recent column. This is a proposal to impose a federal mandate regarding voter registration. State laws will be overridden by federal law drafted and passed by Democrats. As John Fund notes:

The feds will tell the states: ‘take everyone on every list of welfare that you have, take everyone on every list of unemployed you have, take everyone on every list of property owners, take everyone on every list of driver’s license holders and register them to vote regardless of whether they want to be …’

What is the problem? Many of these lists include vast numbers of illegal immigrants, there will be felons, there will be duplicates, and there will be a lot of people who never cared enough about the country or democracy to take the simple steps to register under state laws. What will be the end result? A huge pool of likely Democratic voters will be created out of thin air — and then Obama’s army of volunteers and Democratic Party activists and paid contractors (think ACORN) will shepherd them to the voting booths. Between the pickup at home and the pulling of the lever, a lot of steps can be taken to ensure they vote the left way.

Are there any more ways for Obama and the boys to stack the deck?

Yes! Read more here on how Obama and his boys plan to overcome the rising waves of constitutional conservatism with a tsunami of their own.

Our Crook-in-Chief means to keep his power. Unless we man the fair election life-guard towers and clean up his dirty work, Obama’s sludge of cheating, lying, and diabolical tricks will continue to pollute the waves of REAL change.

Video: Scott Brown on Hannity, New Developments Brown/Coakley Race, Let the Cameras In – Sign Petition

January 9th, 2010 Jayde Wyatt 13 comments

Electing Republican Scott Brown to be the next senator in Massachusetts would provide the 41st vote to throw a desperately needed wrench in the ObamaCare machine! Not only that, Brown’s success would send a crack-of-thunder message of things-to-come to liberals. Sean Hannity (FOX News) interviewed Brown yesterday (Jan 8th) to discuss the buzz on the January 19th senate race:

Scott Brown: “This race is about taxes, terrorism, and health care.”

During Mitt Romney’s interview yesterday with Greta VanSusteren (FOX News), he asked Americans to send $25 to help Brown. Go to www.brownforussenate.com to donate to Brown’s campaign and to make a few phone calls (from the comfort of your home) on his behalf. Instructions to connect to their online phone bank are on his site.

Discussions re Brown/Coakley at Conservative Talk Forum

Update: Scott Brown swearing-in would be stalled to pass healthcare reform (The left-wing thuggery continues. Please read this entire article!)

Today, a spokesman for Secretary of the Commonwealth William Galvin, who is overseeing the election but did not respond to a call seeking comment, said certification of the Jan. 19 election by the Governor’s Council would take a while.“Because it’s a federal election,” spokesman Brian McNiff said. “We’d have to wait 10 days for absentee and military ballots to come in.”

Another source told the Herald that Galvin’s office has said the election won’t be certified until Feb. 20 – well after the president’s address.

Since the U.S. Senate doesn’t meet again in formal session until Jan. 20, Bay State voters will have made their decision before a vote on health-care reform could be held. But Kirk and Galvin’s office said today a victorious Brown would be left in limbo.

In contrast, Rep. Niki Tsongas (D-Lowell) was sworn in at the U.S. House of Representatives on Oct. 18, 2007, just two days after winning a special election to replace Martin Meehan. In that case, Tsongas made it to Capitol Hill in time to override a presidential veto of the expansion of the State Children’s Health Insurance Program.

Yesterday, Brown, who has been closing the gap with Coakley in polls and fund raising, blasted the political double standard.

“This is a stunning admission by Paul Kirk and the Beacon Hill political machine,” said Brown in a statement. “Paul Kirk appears to be suggesting that he, Deval Patrick, and (Senate Majority Leader) Harry Reid intend to stall the election certification until the health care bill is rammed through Congress, even if that means defying the will of the people of Massachusetts. As we’ve already seen from the backroom deals and kickbacks cut by the Democrats in Washington, they intend to do anything and everything to pass their controversial health care plan. But threatening to ignore the results of a free election and steal this Senate vote from the people of Massachusetts takes their schemes to a whole new level. Martha Coakley should immediately disavow this threat from one of her campaign’s leading supporters.”

A spokeswoman for Coakley’s campaign declined to comment today.

There isn’t much time left to help Scott Brown! There isn’t much time left to sign the petition allowing  C-Span to show America  just how ugly the Democrat Health Care slug-fest is. Don’t procrastinate. Pass the word. Help now!

Editor’s note: The on-going developments in the Brown/Coakley election are stunning. MoveOn.org is now involved, as well. The corruption from Washington snakes deep into the MA legislature. These are extraordinary times and I hope Massachusetts’ residents rise up to ensure their voices are heard and their election is certified fairly. Protesting enmasse in the streets (peacefully but LOUDLY) may be the only way to get the attention of their calculating politicians and conniving state officials.

Update 2: With the Brown/Coakley race garnering national attention, a leading conservative outside group, American Future Fund (AFF) has purchased a five-day statewide airing of a pro-Brown ad in MA. It focuses on Coakley’s penchant for increasing taxes. The $400,000 ad run is the first of several ads planned to air. Brown has been significantly outraised by his opponent.

From The New York Times - January 7, 2010

BOSTON — Martha M. Coakley, the Democrat running for Senator Edward M. Kennedy’s seat in Massachusetts, had seemed so certain of winning the special election on Jan. 19 that she barely campaigned last month.

But the dynamic has changed in recent days. The news that two senior Democratic senators will retire this year in the face of bleak re-election prospects has created anxiety and, even in this bluest of states, a sense that the balance of power has shifted dramatically from just a year ago.

With the holidays over and public attention refocused on the race, Ms. Coakley’s insistence on debating her Republican opponent, Scott P. Brown, only with a third-party candidate present has drawn mounting criticism.

And a new poll that showed a competitive race between Ms. Coakley and Mr. Brown has generated buzz on conservative blogs and energized the Brown campaign — though many news organizations dispute its methodology.

Mr. President, Let the C-Span Cameras In!

January 7th, 2010 Jayde Wyatt 5 comments

What is it with Obama and campaign promises? Is he senile? Blackberry broken? Or, a Pinocchio-in-Chief?

While seeking votes and charming the masses, Obama declared over and over that should he be elected, his administration would be TRANSPARENT. He also made a specific, pointed pledge to the American people (eight times to be exact) that he would BROADCAST the crafting of health care legislation on C-Span.

On December 30, 2009, C-Span’s CEO Brian Lamb wrote a letter to Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid requesting that C-Span be allowed to broadcast health care negotiations. The request has been ignored.

White House press secretary Robert Gibbs was asked on Tuesday, Jan 5th about Obama’s standard for transparency and refusal to employ C-Span’s services on health care. Hear Gibbs’ non-answer at 31:12 – 33:00. Gibbs was also asked about the Nebraska Clause in the final H.C. bill at 45:33 – 46:16.

Legislation that will fundamentally change one-fifth of the American economy and the way you and I receive health care is going to be done informally (behind-closed-doors-no-Republicans-allowed). Much has been said the last couple of days on Obama’s tactics, but Obama-cheerleader Jack Cafferty’s denunciation of the President on CNN is of particular note:

From Let The Cameras In:

President Obama promised to make the Health care debate open and transparent. Stop your secret health care shenanigans and let C-SPAN cover the meetings. No more secret sessions. No more sweetheart deals. The American people have a right to know. If you don’t have anything to hide, you would welcome the light. Let the cameras in.

Let the C-Span cameras in! Take action. Sign the petition here.

Jack, come next fall, we will not forget!
