Hugh Hewitt – Obama: “Serial Failure”, Romney: “Extremely Well-Qualified”

Hugh Hewitt has written a new must-read book titled ‘The Brief Against Obama’.

Last weekend, while many Americans were watching Olympic gymnast Gabby Douglas and swimmers Missy Franklin, Katie Ledecky, and Michael Phelps go for the gold in merry old England, C-Span aired a significant presentation on ‘The Brief Against Obama‘ – a new book written by *radio talk show host and pundit Hugh Hewitt.

With the goal of persuading weak affiliation voters (Independents, undecided voters, wavering Democrats and Libertarians) NOT to re-elect Obama, Hewitt engaged listeners as he spoke about the facts of Obama’s many broken promises. An informative and entertaining speaker, Hewitt’s audience was also treated to a Q&A session. The gathering took place on July 30, 2012 at the Richard Nixon Library in Yorba Linda, CA and later aired on C-Span.

For those who missed the must-see presentation, here’s Hugh:

@13:52 – “I wanted to write a book that would persuade people NOT to vote for President Obama and I knew it had to be fact-based“… [235 pages of text, 45 pages of footnotes]

I made a very long list of all the promises President Obama made, all of the PREDICTIONS he put forward, and all of the polemics he used. Each chapter of the 25 chapters begins with a quotation or series of quotations from President Obama not earlier than 2007. I’m not interested in what he did as a young man. I’m not interested in his biography. I’m interested in what he promised to do as a candidate or as a President – what he predicted would happen as a result of his actions or the language he used as a candidate or President. And, when I think you stack it up HE DID NOT DELIVER.”

@14:55 – “In fact, he is a SERIAL FAILURE when it comes to delivering on his promises. Therefore, I don’t believe he is OWED your vote or anyone’s vote based upon what he said he would do and DID NOT DO – based on what he predicted would happen and did not happen – based upon what was, in fact, the most hyper partisan set of rhetorical devices that we have seen in the modern presidency.”

@15:19 – Hewitt speaks about A Mormon in the White House? – 10 Things Americans Should Know About Mitt Romney, a book he penned in 2007 underscoring Romney’s extraordinary viability as a Republican presidential nominee – the “enormous capacity Mitt Romney has.”

@18:00 – Mentions his prediction that Romney’s experience at Bain would be twisted by Obama and used against him. He also predicts, in the waning days of this campaign, because Obama is desperate, Romney’s religion will be used against him.

@18:16 – “The only reason I thought that President Obama could win reelection based upon the work I completed in ‘The Brief AGainst Obama’ is if we Republicans … nominated a terrible candidate – if they nominated someone who would not win the confidence of Americans. Luckily, we have nominated an EXTREMELY well-qualified individual who is ready to be President on the first day. And, I think that’s becoming very, very obvious.

@18:43 – Hewitt explains why Romney is such a great nominee and speaks of the enormity of the task of saving the 2002 Winter Olympics: Romney took it “from the edge of despair and disaster to an enormous internationally recognized success. We need that kind of capability.”

@20:37 – Addresses Romney critics who say he isn’t aggressive enough. “I’m very confident about Romney.”

@29:30 – Speaks on the ‘Bradley effect’ and Obama supporters.

@31:25 – V.P. possibilities

@34:00 – What’s the worst thing Obama has done? Listen to this list!

@40:00 – Hugh’s three favorite Obama quotes: “The very best arguments to make against Obama are his own statements.”

@42:00 – Mentions In, But Not Of a book he wrote in 1998. With his HHS regulations, Obama has awakened a sleeping giant – Evangelical, Catholic, and orthodox Jewish voters.

@48:00 – “We don’t want four more years of Chicago style politics. And what happens if he’s reelected [Obama] and he’s not even restrained by the prospect of reelection?”

@51:50 – Buy the book, read it, give it to an Independent or a Democrat.

@53:00 – Excellent Q&A session

Hugh’s extensive experience in politics and law, combined with his sense of humor and story-telling capacity (no teleprompter) made listening to him speak for over an hour a very enjoyable and heartening experience. His endorsement of Romney couldn’t be any stronger. I encourage MRC readers to share these remarks everywhere possible and promote his new book. Readers may purchase ‘The Brief Against Obama’ here. As Hugh asked – get it, read it, then pass it along to an Independent or undecided voter!

*Hewitt is not only the host of a popular nationally syndicated radio show, he is a lawyer (graduate of Harvard College and University of Michigan Law School) and a law professor at Chapman University Law School in southern California where he teaches Constitutional Law.

Very difficult to contact Romney Campaign Headquarterss! Definitely NOT computer friendly to people just wanting to say something. It is so frustrating watching this campaign as I feel like I’m watching a repeat of the McCain campaign in 2008. Palin did not lose that election for McCain … McCain and McCain staffers did! The country has changed and the Republican “establishment” has not changed with it. WAKE UP and win this election! You can’t play by the OLD playbook. The rules have changed … you Have to have noticed that. TAKE THE GLOVES OFF!!!

Excellent speech and valid points by Hugh Hewitt at the Nixon Library. His case against Obama sounds well researched and documented in his book “The Brief Against Obama” which I hope to read. Obama’s promises have not materialized and won’t, because he had NO intention of keeping them once elected. Mitt will keep his promises and bring back dignity to the office of President.

Do not miss this chance to vote or you may not get another.

    Gov. Romney will deliver!

ABC polls just declared that Mitt Romney’s campaign is in the deep hole, while Rasmussen’s poll states that he’s 51% ahead of Pres. Obama. I think that the media is really trying to influence voter’s confidence against Mitt. This is not only appaling but so dishonest. Because Obama’s record is so broken, the liberal media covers it up with this erroneous polling.Let’s work harder in behalf of this nation!

    Jean,
If i were you, i’ll just focus on state by state. We can’t dismiss all the news media org polls, however, Obama is still in big trouble, he’s struggling to maintain a big lead in most important states. Obama is DESPERATE!

“the election is decided state-by-state, and within those states, political pros slice the vote into demographic groups. In the battleground state of Colorado, the president leads among women, but Romney leads among men.” http://www.npr.org/2012/08/09/158477194/obama-campaigns-on-gop-turn-in-colorado

  5. Drob says:

When you see polls CNN and FOX so far out you have to ask several questions.
    A) If Mitt Romney was was almost double digits behind Obama he would never have a 16 point lead in Indiana.
    B) Rasmussen Polling and Gallop Polling would have been lying for over 6 months.
    C) Mitt Romney would not have made the kind of money he did in little Iowa the other day.
    D) Mitt would have no lead in Missouri.

Fox has never been Romney friendly nor has CNN.

Mitt is going to have to win this election like he did the Primary. Maybe this is how it has to be but he will win.

No Presidential Contender has had to deal with a “KILL MITT” campaign against him almost since his nomination started. The DNC went out of their way to try to throw the primary election against Mitt.

Mitt will overcome all this and win this election.

  6. Cathy says:

All of these fabricated polls showing Obama ahead, only makes Gov. Romney supporters work harder and stronger. So, the media is actually working in favor of Mitt. We will NEVER give up and we will triumph in the end. A heads-up to the media…the millions of the silent majority is staying silent until we have our Chick-Fil-A Day in Nov.
    Mitt will prevail!

  7. Sarah says:

Thank you for sharing this article and video. I watched the whole thing last night and it was outstanding. I am not familiar at all with Hugh Hewitt – have heard his name, that’s about it – so it was very enlightening. I really appreciate he realized his book had to be fact-based. That he has 45 pages of footnotes and references shows he was committed to doing it right, and I respect him for that.

  8. Annette S says:

    Drob…I agree with you.

The Fox News Polling for Mitt has never been good. What is up with that? We know Fox was very unfriendly towards Mitt in the Primaries. Maybe their polling apparatus is still set up as it was in the Primaries….to not reflect well for Romney…high Democratic sampling and registered voters. To top it off Fox News was talking about the poll all day yesterday.

Fox News is full of contributors that were NOT Romneys during the primaries. Unfortunately, they don’t have the faith in Romney that his regular supporters have and they fuel doubt in his ability to get elected. The only NOT Romney that has put all differences aside is Sean Hannity who in the interest of the Party has put everything he has behind Romney. He did not mention the Fox Poll yesterday.

I have full faith in Romney for the following reasons:

    1) Obama has burned through $400 million in campaign cash, but the candidates are tied according to Rasmussen and Gallup. Obama has out spent Romney, but it hasn’t done him much good. Romney is now raising more money and will probably have more cash in Sept., Oct. and Nov.

    2) These desperate, despicable, and dishonest attacks lodged against Romney will eventually catch up with the Obama Campaign. Even some of the liberal media are denouncing it. It can’t work right up to election day.

    3) Romney knows when & how to take a punch. Case in point…Reid has backed off his claims. Romney’s counter punch and reaction was effective.

    4) The Republicans are more enthusiastic about the elections then the Democrats. Obama has showed too many people that it is politics as usual and his record is dismal. More Republicans are expected to vote.

    5) Obama cannot run on his record. Polls show that more people feel Romney would be better handling the economy.

    6) Barack Obama will be NO match for Mitt Romney in the debates. Obama will have to defend a high deficit, high unemployment, a shrunken work force, a bankrupt Solyndra and his unfriendly attitude towards entrepreneurs. Romney is the most charismatic during the debates. People get the full force of his pragmatism, decisiveness, consistency, integrity and incredible intelligence. Obama is NO match for Romney. The truth is on the side of Romney.

    Romney….2012!
