Massacre in Colorado! Mitt Romney Releases Statement

UPDATE Governor Romney spoke on the Aurora, CO shooting at a previously-scheduled campaign event event today in Concord, New Hampshire. Romney and Obama both cancelled campaigning for the day.

Governor Mitt Romney’s statement on this morning’s tragic shooting in Aurora, Colorado:

Ann and I are deeply saddened by the news of the senseless violence that took the lives of 15 people in Colorado and injured dozens more. We are praying for the families and loved ones of the victims during this time of deep shock and immense grief. We expect that the person responsible for this terrible crime will be quickly brought to justice.”

    It would be great if someone had been able to stop the shooter quickly. Realistically it could have been very difficult in a dark crowded theater to pick him off quickly without endangering others, and the police could also mistake an armed intended hero as a criminal as well. It’s just not as simple as it may appear at first. Imagine if the hero had accidentally shot and injured or killed other innocent people. Really the only safe way to take him down is if a few men could rush him from behind and take him to the ground. Anyway, I hope the killer is QUICKLY tried and executed. There is no excuse for this.
