Mitt Romney’s Economic Reality – The ‘Presidential Corollary’ (Part II)

Notwithstanding the media’s protestations to the contrary, Governor Romney has stated his plan for Jobs and Economic Growth (here), and it isn’t by government largesse but by empowerment of society! He released his plan in late 2011, early 2012, and it is very specific. The complaint from the media and many others is that it is too detailed, and too specific. Really? They have said it adds too much complexity to the equation and isn’t understood by the majority – maybe so. Part of our problem in society is that we want pablum rather than meat and potatoes; we want celebrity over competency; we want sound bites rather than detail, depth and specifics. To solve our challenges we need substance, not sound bites; we need a President who will lead with principle and competency, not celebrity and situational standards; we need detail, depth and specifics! The POTUS can and does affect the economy and jobs with LEADERSHIP and sound policies!

So here are the basics of Governor Romney’s plan in summary -

DAY ONE, JOB ONE.
When Mitt Romney says that fostering job creation through economic growth will be his top priority from his first day in office, he means it. While some elements of his plan will take time to set in motion, much can be done from a running start. On Inauguration Day, he will submit a jobs package to Congress consisting of at least five major proposals and will demand that Congress act on the package within 30 days, using every power at his disposal to ensure its passage. He will also take immediate and specific steps within his sole authority as president by issuing a series of executive orders that gets the U.S. government out of the economy’s way. The goal: restore America to the path of robust economic growth necessary to create jobs.

FIVE BILLS FOR DAY ONE
American Competitiveness Act
• Reduces the corporate income tax rate to 25 percent

The Open Markets Act
• Implements the Colombia, Panama, and South Korea Free Trade Agreements

The Domestic Energy Act
• Directs the Department of the Interior to undertake a comprehensive survey of American energy reserves in partnership with exploration companies and initiates leasing in all areas currently approved for exploration

The Retraining Reform Act
• Consolidates the sprawl of federal retraining programs and returns funding and responsibility for these programs to the states

The Down Payment on Fiscal Sanity Act
• Immediately cuts non-security discretionary spending by 5 percent, reducing the annual federal budget by $20 billion

FIVE EXECUTIVE ORDERS FOR DAY ONE
An Order to Pave the Way to End Obamacare
• Directs the Secretary of Health and Human Services and all relevant federal officials to return the maximum possible authority to the states to innovate and design health care solutions that work best for them

An Order to Cut Red Tape
• Directs all agencies to immediately initiate the elimination of Obama-era regulations that unduly burden the economy or job creation, and then caps annual increases in regulatory costs at zero dollars

An Order to Boost Domestic Energy Production
• Directs the Department of the Interior to implement a process for rapid issuance of drilling permits to developers with established safety records seeking to use pre-approved techniques in pre-approved areas

An Order to Sanction China for Unfair Trade Practices
• Directs the Department of the Treasury to list China as a currency manipulator in its biannual report and directs the Department of Commerce to assess countervailing duties on Chinese imports if China does not quickly move to float its currency

An Order to Empower American Businesses and Workers
• Reverses the executive orders issued by President Obama that tilt the playing field in favor of organized labor, including the one encouraging the use of union labor on major government construction projects

After day one, job one, President Romney will address, with focus and capacity, the following key areas each of which will favorably impact our economy: Tax Policy, Regulatory Policy, Trade Policy, Energy Policy, Labor Policy, Human Capital Policy, Fiscal Policy, each of which are further addressed in his plan linked above. He will further address our Military and Foreign Policy by defining policies that are currently absent in the present administration. Bottom line – HE WILL LEAD!

The results of his leadership will be manifest in:
1) Restoring CONFIDENCE and STABILITY where it has been absent;
2) CAPITAL being released and flowing back into our economy from abundant corporate reserves held on and offshore, and bank’s whose abundant capital has been held hostage by oppressive regulation;
3) JOB creation escalating because of 1 and 2 above;
4) Reduction in energy costs as markets see, with confidence, a dynamic and growing future energy market in the US;
5) Renewed respect globally as rogue nations see a Strong America with Strong Leadership; and
6) A Renewal of American Prosperity and Patriotism!

As with Ronald Reagan in 1980, we will see a resurgent and prosperous America under President Romney. America’s best days are ahead if we choose wisely in November. Mitt Romney’s plan for America is a proven plan! Mitt Romney’s, Believe in America, a Plan for Jobs and Economic Growth, and his vision for our future is sound and based upon correct principles. Mitt Romney has the proven experience and capacity to LEAD this exceptional nation, a nation where men are free and liberty is fundamental. We will be again, the hope of the world.

  1. Endre and Margaret/Peg Toth says:

    Please forward to Mr. Romney:

    Dear Mr. Romney.

    A kind, sincere suggestion. How about express and display some righteous indignation about such and other offensive things, demeaning to the American people, that 80,000 jobs (half temporary) is somehow ok or good enough for America’s lower and middle class people for June or for any other month… There are many, overabundant reasons and examples for you to keep reacting, expressing and frequently showing some righteous indignation the American people well deserves to elect you our next president. We need and want you to frequently display and express righteous indignation when time and again those in power now try and presume that the American people are dumb and ignorant to believe that they can be deceived with twisted untruth, half-truth and no truth. We are praying for you for Godly direction for our great nation. Have a blessed day and beyond. This is a message from a great number of caring, concerned Americans for God’s help through you. We stand behind you. Please do not fail us by being quiet, soft spoken when the American people deserve a display of righteous indignation for attitude and treatments leveled towards them… Thank you!!! We are watching and supporting you for the hope we placed in you.

    shhh… Obama is stealing Gov Romney’s idea already. Last week, shameless Obama was campaigning line by line Gov Romney’s China policy. Obama is a shameless, lawless prez. Obama and his camps are the lowest of the low.

    Prez. Obama and the Demos party thinks we’re stupid. We don’t take failure for answer. We MUST replace Prez Obama and change the course. Unless you live in the Banana republic high unemployemnt is unacceptable, govt control, paying higher taxes, gov handouts, society more decline is unacceptable. No to Obama!
    Obama=One Term Prez!

  3. Terry Morris says:

    Mitt,
    This is not the Hamptons! I don’t have a problem with it but the mainstream media will eat you up!
    Let’s get tough and go after Obama. You have only four months, you have to get serious about the race. You have to be in front of the public every day and go after this guy. Give details of the policies you will implement (in simple but blunt terms– nom beating around the bush.)
    This is the most important election this country has ever had, you must get serious and put all other issues aside! Please.

  4. David Parker says:

    Thank you for your comment, but please know that Mitt and Ann Romney have put it all on the line and no one works harder – I know this from personal knowledge.

  5. Hungarian Crusader says:

    I am reading his economic plans which are wonderully detailed and I feel as if my IQ jumped 18 points.
    He is so detailed and ready to rebuild this economy and is a great champion for our unused (only temporary thankfully) energy industry.
    He has the potential to really be Reaganesque in greatness.

  6. AfricansforRomney says:

    Is it something i’m missing? What’s the conservativ media motives for spreading fear? I don’t undestand it at all. They may not know it, but they’re discouraging, demoralizing Gov Romney’s supporters, GOP voters.
    Please, this got to STOP!
    Gov Romney and RNC raising money like crazy which a great sign that people are engaged, fired up. Obama has so many advantages being a sitting Prez over Gov Romney however, he’s still desperately struggling to move “forward” over Gov Romney.
    Believe in America= Believe in Gov Romney

  7. George says:

    David,
    Thank you for sacrificing your personal time, talents, resources and skills as an honest communicator in getting this good man Governor Romney elected. He has been under public scrutiny for most of his adult life. He has been well vetted as the most qualified candidate to lead our country. He lives with complete integrity according to the principles he espouses. He has the requisite background, education, training, raw intelligence, humility and strength of character to lead our Nation in the coming years. He has earned the trust of leaders throughout the world. He is also trusted by the most humble and needy. Like Reagan, Lincoln and Washington before him, Mr. Romney understands the grave situation our country is in and is willing to make the necessary lifetime sacrifice for the greater good of country. He has the love and support of his lovely wife and children, who must all understand what they will be subjected to during the selection, election and eight year process. As the electorate gets to know this remarkable man better with an open heart, they will make the right choice. He will be our 45th President!

  8. David Parker says:

    Thanks George, I couldn’t agree with you more! Thanks for your support for the Governor and MRC.

  9. Victor Lundquist says:

    David, THANK YOU for distilling parts of Gov. Romney’s economic plan into simple summary form. A great read… a must read for those who keep chirping that Gov. Romney needs to communicate details about his economic plan.

    Another simple reminder to those skeptics and those who wish to be critical. Remember this simple fact: Approximately four months ahead of the 1980 Carter/Reagan election, President Carter was leading Reagan in the polls by about 10 points. Reagan’s “approval” rating swung 20 points and he beat Carter in a landslide by 10 points. And Carter was really trying to lead; Obama does not know how to lead.

    A composite of polls has the race dead-even right now with Obama making promise after promise almost daily. We know from this article that Gov. Romney has many details behind an amazing economic plan. And yet he is allowing Obama to flail and flop around as he throws spaghetti against the wall to see what sticks. History has shown time and time again that the American voter pays little attention during the summer months. Gov. Romney knows this

    You watch. As we near the end of summer, Gov. Romney will be stepping it up to get his plans out to the public, wisely using time and resources to reach every voter in America.

    And think about this: What if Gov. Romney swings the needle by 20 points from dead-even . . .?

  10. Hispana says:

    David, Thank you for your wonderful article explaining Mitt’s economic plan and the outline that he has in his website. For all the naysayers out there including the media elitists, a simple clicking on Mitt’s website would have enlightened them. How can they argue these points when a simple click would have done the job? It tells me a great deal of the lack of competence out there. How can you get this wonderful article out there for everyone to see? I love your articles! Thanks again.
