Obama’s “Fairness” Always Restricts Your Freedom

Yesterday, I introduced an expression I will use often regarding Barack Obama — it is the Obama Obfuscation referring to his deliberate intent to deceive and mislead Americans generally. His methods are both simple and cunning.

One example of this is his use of the words “fair” and “fairness” in his speeches with the hope of motivating voters to support his socialist policies; policies, which if implemented, necessarily reduce personal freedom in the form of increased regulation, greater taxation, etc.

After all, who among us is against fairness?

Make no mistake though. He who decides what is fair, usually decides how to make it fair, which results in restricted personal freedom. Is it fair that Derek Jeter or Kobi Bryant were born with talents and skills that allow them to make a fortune every year in their chosen line of work? Is it fair that one Lasik eye surgeon can make $10 million a year in Newport Beach when another of the same age and background goes bankrupt in Boise?

Every time you hear Obama or his surrogates use the word “fair” it is a signal to run and to run as fast as you can. If you choose to ascribe to that doctrine, by default and definition, you are willing to subject yourself to Obama’s control to reduce your freedom in some way (increased taxes, additional regulation…) — without exception.

Watch what Obama said back in to 2008 about his desire for fairness (don’t be distracted by his “pay as you go” nonsense) — notice how he skillfully changes the subject too!

Who gets to decide what is fair? Barack Obama wants to! Remember Milton Friedman? Watch what he says here about fairness and freedom (below the fold):

Of course, Donahue looks dumbfounded in this dated piece; no surprise here — Donahue is a liberal so we need to cut him some slack.

In this YouTube, Friedman and Thomas Sowell are in a panel discussion about fairness and its effect upon freedom. What is it that Barack Obama doesn’t get? What is that he cannot see? He knows exactly what he wants and his vision in this regard is perfectly clear.

Obama wants to decide for every person in America what “fair” is and to impose those restrictions on you and me to get it. Make no mistake:

Notice the words “cost,” “imposing,” and “force” in defining what is “fair.”

“Fairness through leveling is the essence of Obamaism.” ~ Charles Krauthammer

“If you think spreading money around by force seems like an odd definition of fairness, you’re not alone.” ~ Arthur C. Brooks

“Obama is a leveler. He has come to narrow the divide between rich and poor. For him the ultimate social value is fairness. Imposing it upon the American social order is his mission.” ~ Charles Krauthammer

“As a religion, bilingualism is the god that failed. It has led to no fairness, produced no unity, and cost Canadian taxpayers untold millions.” ~ Stephen Harper

I think what bothers me the most about President Obama is not even him but the people that support him. I really believe he is trying to change America so it will be “fair” to all that live here. Unfortunately, his meaningful attempts to make this country fair has taken away individual freedoms, such as religious freedom and economic freedom. Does he really think that forcing people to be fair is “fair”? The Creator gave us life and liberty but He gave us only the pursuit of happiness. Why only the pursuit? It’s because my dreams are different from yours and yours are different from someone else and also differ in degrees and all manner of things. Things can’t all be fair because God knows we all have different dreams. Find your dreams and pursue your happiness. Vote Mitt Romney.

Yeah, Obama is more than FAIR for his green wacko friends. Why i’ve to be fair to support Obama’s free handout agendas? We’re paying so much taxes in federal, state and local level for EVERYTHING. It’s not funny anymore. Obama is printing money like no one is watching him. He’s turning the society to a welfare state. The damage what Obama has done in 3+ years to this society, i beleive it’ll take another 100 years just to change this entitlement culture that he has been planting. Enough is enough.

    Spreading wealth is UN-AMERICAN!

Gov Romney, Defend Individual Liberty, Defend the Constitution!

I believe that it is unconstitutional for anyone or any goverment to use the government as a vehicle to mandate personal agenda. I believe the only true way of deciding if any law is constitutional is this:
    .
…………Completely, I mean completely remove government from the situation and then ask yourself, “can this be accomplished without committing a crime?”
    .
For example, the welfare system. The government takes from you, your hard earned money that you have worked to achieve, then they in turn give to someone who has not worked for it or earned it. The recipient of the tax-payers’ money recieves a check in the mail. Now the real question. Completely remove government from the situation. How is the recipient going to receive their welfare check without committing a crime? You can’t. Therefore, government has become a means of legalized extortion. (among countless others)
    .
Obama is totally making a mockery of our Great Constitution. And a mockery of Freedom.

I remember the capital gains question directed at Obama during the debates. History has shown that decreasing the capital gains tax will increase revenue to the government and increasing capital gains tax will decrease revenue. The moderator pointed this out to Obama, but Obama doesn’t care about increased revenue. He only cares about what he believes is fair. Instead of letting supply and demand work as Milton Freeman advocates, he wants to redistribute the wealth. He uses class warfare so people will support his notion of fairness . If everybody can’t be rich, than nobody will be. Never mind that the rich will create more jobs and enable our economy to prosper. Then Obama makes the argument that the debt Bush created could have been prevented if he had taxed the rich. Of course Obama articulated this differently, but that is what he was saying. We need Mitt Romney who believes government and business should be in alliance with each other. Romney…2012!

  5. Annette says:

    Milton Friedman..sorry for the misspelling.

Great footage. Friedman points out that in the economic system of profit and loss, loss is just as important as profit. In other words, businesses should be allowed to fail. Government should eliminate the barriers created by being an arbitrator of equality. Obama wants to arbitrarily say what is fair which is unfair.

  6. Barbara says:

There is nothing “fair” about what Obama is trying to do. It reeks of unfairness both on its face and below the surface.

When Obama claims that he’s not trying to redistribute wealth, that’s exactly what his agenda is. The “Buffett Rule” is obscene. Obama himself paid 20.5% in taxes, so where’s his check to make up the difference. And where is Buffett’s.

All Obama has to do is open his mind just a little bit and objectively observe what’s happening in Europe’s handout states. But he and his fellow liberal/leftists refuse to do that and want to literally drive the United States down that same economic road to ruin with the resultant loss jobs, income and consumer viability.

Obama, his EPA and his Energy secretary refuse, by piling restrictive measures on them, to give our oil and gas industries the green light so they can tap into the vast resources the United States has underground by piling restrictive measures on them. Yet he’s all in for giving Brazil’s oil industry a leg up from us while our people are being pummeled at the gas pumps.

So-called Obamacare is another huge problem for our economy, and we can only hope that the Supreme Court abides by the Constitution in making its decision whether or not to strike it down either in whole or in part.

November 6th can’t come a day too soon. This country is in absolute need of Mitt Romney as its next president.

  7. B. McConnell says:

It seems to me to be simple math. My family enjoys a healthy income, what we don’t enjoy is an 18% tax rate, we pay closer to 33%, so what is it that allows others to pay half the rate I pay? You would assume that it might be that they have such a low income they really can’t feed and clothe and house themselves if they paid a third of their income in taxes – but that is not it, the ones paying a fraction of what the rest of us pay bought that privilege by giving money to men who would pass laws that change the tax code for them. Forget leveling, how is “leveling” even relevant?and yes, explain clearly why that is fair?
    @Stan

  8. AfricansforRomney says:

    @B. McConnell
Do you think high tax rate will enocurage you to invest or hire more people?Remember, Investment is a big risk and you can lose it all. Lower tax rate for investors, corp’n stimulate the economy and as the result the middle class benefits. Also, study suggests that states with lower tax rate or state with no income taxes have hig economic growth.

You cannot reduce the national deficit just b/c the rich pays more taxes. We will be just fine if we all pays taxes including Timothy Geithner, Charles Rangel…..you know what i mean. We need to stop printing money, we need to cut spending.
