Seven Reasons Why I Support Mitt Romney Over Rick Santorum:

7. Immigration. Mitt Romney has a solid record and platform addressing illegal immigration.

Rick Santorum says things that sound good, but as NY Times best seller and popular conservative pundit Ann Coulter explained, he has a record that has perpetuated illegal immigration, including voting against even the voluntary use of e-verify, and he has a platform that will continue to perpetuate the problem, which includes continued opposition to the use of e-verify.

6. Washington Outsider. This hardly needs any commentary. Rick Santorum spent 16 years as a Washington insider as a congressman (4 years in the house and 12 years in the senate), and since then over the last five years has remained there as a consultant to lobbying firms and other companies wanting a Washington insider’s services. The executive director of the watchdog group Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington explained that Santorum “was a huge part of pay-to-play politics during one of the dirtiest eras in Washington.”

By contrast Mitt Romney has never worked inside the beltway, and he has never worked as a consultant to lobbying firms.

5. Executive experience. Mitt Romney has experience running and rescuing billion dollar enterprises, including governing a state, while Rick Santorum has no executive experience.

Massachusetts had the 11th largest economy in the nation, and it was doing worse than the rest of the country, ranking 50th in its increase in unemployment and bleeding fast when he took over. He balanced the multi-billion dollar Massachusetts state budget which had billions in structural deficit, leaving a $2 billion surplus. The year he left office, the state was 12th in the nation in its improvement in the unemployment rate, which was decreasing and substantially lower than when he took office.

What better training and experience for a person to take over the multi-trillion dollar enterprise called the federal government, which is well over 15 trillion dollars in debt and sinking fast? This reason alone is more than ample reason, hands down, to support Mitt Romney over any of the remaining contenders as the future executive of the country.

4. Electability – The ability to beat the incumbent in a general election. There has been much ballyhoo lately about how Senator Rick Santorum is as electable as Governor Mitt Romney. To use Senator Santorum’s not so eloquent words, “This is just crap!” And this is why:

History: There has only been one person in history to defeat an incumbent president, whose government experience was limited to being a legislator and senator. That was the Republican President Benjamin Harrison (1889-93), but he also had the credential of being a Civil War hero and General. He did such a poor job, that after one term the voters reelected his defeated predecessor, Grover Cleveland, to a second term. Since then, the country has never replaced a president with a senator having no executive government experience. But voters do like to replace presidents with governors, such as when Ronald Reagan defeated President Carter and Bill Clinton defeated President Bush.

Polls:
While Santorum’s polling against Barak Obama improved a little for a short while, Romney has often tied or beat Obama in the polls and still has a better polling average than Santorum. More telling, Romney has fared far better than Santorum in polls of battleground states and among independents.

Credentials: From the previously mentioned executive experience to the credentials listed below, Mitt Romney has the résumé and the experience that makes him more electable.

3. Business and economic understanding and experience. Graduating in the top of his class in Harvard in both business and law, Mitt Romney went on to create and save many businesses. Having someone who understands business, jobs and the economy is near the top in my criteria for a desired presidential candidate.

2. Fiscal Discipline. In addition to keeping businesses in the black (profitable), Mitt Romney has demonstrated fiscal discipline in government. When he took office, he revamped the existing budget, balancing it, then balanced all four budgets during his term in office without raising taxes, although some fees were raised and some corporate tax loopholes were closed. Rick Santorum on the other hand has been roundly criticized by peers and others for enthusiastically over-indulging in seeking increased earmarks and spending.

1. Turn-around artist. The skill, ability, credentials and track record of turning struggling or failing enterprises around is Mitt Romney’s most impressive and appealing quality. The action I most would like to see occur with the federal government, with its runaway deficit spending, and with the U.S. economy, is a fiscal turnaround. Mitt Romney has a spectacular record and ability turning things around. This needs duplicating at the federal level.

Umm…#4 lists is very intersting. A while ago NPR had interesting segment about historically State Governors are effective presidents. Definately, Gov Romney fits in Reagan, Clinton, W Bush camps.

Obama camps are scared to death Gov Romney. They knew Gov Romney is the ONE. We know Obama campaign is in deep s..t b/c instead of talking the big issue that we’re facing today $4+ per/gal gas price, the economy his top advisor David Axelord running around talking about Obama’s his recent UN-presidential apology to a private citzen Vs. a talk show host trash talks and he’s dipping Gov Romney into this mess.

Obama owe us an aplogy to the broken promises hope and changes, where is our apology for the shovel- ready jobs, where is Obama apology for $4+ per/gal price? where’s his aplogy for his failed leadership????????

    Obama=Divider
    Romney=Strong Leadership!!

In February of 2009, President Obama said to Today Show host Matt Lauer, “If I don’t have this [economy fixed] done in three years, then there’s going to be a one-term proposition.” Unemployment is around 11.2%, the real estate market is in shambles and Obama has no plan to fix it. In November voters will accept your one-term proposition.

Thanks for the article. Mitt will be in the White House as he is the best person for the job. Here are a lot of good Mitt Romney videos on his youtube channel. Post at least one each day some where. http://www.youtube.com/user/mittromney – Let’s flood the social media with Mitt Mania.

This Saturday the No. Mariana Islands commonly known as Saipan votes. They are an United States commonwealth. It is know for its clothing manufacturing. Many people go there hoping to get jobs but get forced in to prostitution and have forced abortions. Absolutely, horrendous. Watch the 20/20 Special The Shame of Saipan. Jack Abramoff, a lobbyist who went to prison for conspiracy and bribing politicians, worked to protect these sweatshops. Watch the connection between Rick Santorum and Jack Abramoff. Watch the yt video The Gang of Four. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8q7l70tmxWg

Santorum supported, the Benedict Arnold of the Republican party, Arlen Specter for reelection. Specter once a Republican switched to be a democrat. Specter became the culminating and final vote for ObamaCare. For you conservatives out there, Specter then went on to call for the repeal of the Defense of Marriage Act. ObamaCare depending on the source states that it will cost between $400 billion and $1.2 trillion. The Congressional Budget Office states that the cost will be $829 billion with job losses totaling around 1.6 million. All because Santorum willingly supported the Specter. In fact, read the PA articles he was on a crusade to get Specter reelected. Mitt Romney – The Candidate To Unite Republicans and America

Mitt Romney is uniting the republican electorate, restoring a sense of patriotism in America and taking our message of change to Washington that represents the mind and will of “We The People”.

The Republican party and America needs a proven leader like Mitt Romney who will defend our rights , our values, our freedoms, our country and inspire Americans to “Believe In America”.

Mitt Romney lead the 2002 Olympics in Salt Lake City and has once again in 2012 demonstrated the same leadership on the campaign trail ready to lead the Republican party to victory.

It is now time for Republicans, the tea party folks, libertarians, conservative media and all Americans to rally behind Mitt Romney and stand united ready to defeat Pres. Obama in the November general election.

    United We Stand!

Thank you great article, well written. Now I will suggest to all of us who are supporting Mitt to concentrate in defeating Obama. Let’s not take time or efforts with the other two contenders. They don’t have a chance. We need help finding as more information about Obama, so we can concentrate our effort to post comments and to teach other people. Obama is already packing his group with actors, with film makers and with Oprah and other people who has slaved the American people.

  10. THANK YOU John for this great post. My favorites: 1, 4, and 5. My #1 attribute of GMR’s is executive experience. It is the one thing that is an indisputable advantage. In fact, I would argue that very few presidential candidates in the last 100 years would measure up to his impressive background and I say that with no exaggeration. Think about it.

Add to that integrity of character and nobody measures up from past politics.

This is a GREAT post. A keeper. I have added it to my “Reference” tab in Favorites to drop in an email fast when somebody asks my opinion. It is concise and says it all!

I will probably refer to it in a future post of my own.

    Thank you.

  13. Joni Kartchner says:

Several of my friends have asked why I’ve become “addicted” to helping with Mr. “Flip-Flopper’s” campaign. Aside from wanting to leave my children and future generations of children the same opportunities that I have had, I continue to be completely impressed with the character of this man. I assure you that it’s not because we share the same religious values. Mitt has a long history of being not only generous financially, but he’s also been generous with his time and talents. Here are just 5 examples:

    1. When Mitt Romney’s father, George W. Romney, passed away in 1995, he left an inheritance to Mitt totaling $1 million. Mitt turned around and donated his inheritance money to Brigham Young University for the George W. Romney School of Public Management. This is an institute of public management that helps young people learn about government and about serving in public service.

The money goes to economically disadvantaged students wishing to pursue a higher education in the field of public management and government.

2 Governor Mike Leavitt contacted Mitt asking him to head the Salt Lake Organizing Committee for the 2002 Winter Olympics when fraud, bribery scandals, mismanagement and financial problems were plaguing the International Olympic Committee. Mitt and Ann moved to Utah and worked for the next 3 years without compensation. Instead of taking a salary, he donated his entire $825,000 salary (plus severance payments) to charitable organizations; as well as, donating $1 MILLION of his and Ann’s own money to the Olympics. Romney lead the troubled games into a financial success. The Olympic Committee was $400 million dollars in debt. 3 years later, there was a $100 million surplus. This was the 1st time in history that this was ever accomplished.

    3. When Romney was asked by state leaders and prominent member in the state of Massachusetts to run for governor because their state had a $3 BILLION deficit while having the highest unemployment rate in the country; Romney not only said he would take on the task, but when he did win the election, he refused to take the $135,000 annual salary his entire term as governor.

He presided over a series of spending cuts that eliminated a projected $3-billion deficit and left Massachusetts with a $2-billion rainy day fund. He accomplished this within four years while working with an 85% democratic legislature. He has proven that he can work between party lines to accomplish great results.

    4. He helped to launch or rebuild hundreds of companies, including household names such as Staples, Bright Horizons, Domino’s Pizza chain and The Sports Authority. As Bain Capital was growing in prominence, Mitt returned to his old consulting firm, Bain & Company, as CEO. In a time of financial turmoil at the company, he led a successful turnaround.

    5. Romney knows how government policies affect private sector decision making. He understands the consequences of actions that raise business cost and that business is not the problem in America—a bloated and wasteful government is. Many people may not like the changes he will have to make, but I believe that he has the experience and intelligence to turn around our bloated and wasteful government, and to help people recognize that the government should not be our only source of help. We should learn to take care of ourselves first when possible! We need to distinguish between our wants…and our needs. We need Mitt Romney’s leadership in the White House, and we need to send a strong message to our leaders in Washington…STOP SPENDING MONEY WE DON’T HAVE!

  14. Heath says:

Santorum “voting against even the voluntary use of e-verify, and he has a platform that will continue to perpetuate the problem, which includes continued opposition to the use of e-verify.”

At least I can personally check which individuals (running for President) are legal to actually work via everifyfaq.
