Romney For President – New Video: ‘LIBERAL DEMOCRATS For Santorum’

Why did liberal Democrats in Michigan vote for Rick Santorum?

The adept Romney for President Digital Team today released a new web video answering that question. It’s titled “Liberal Democrats for Santorum.” Democrats voted in the Michigan primary because they know Governor Romney will be the stronger candidate in the general election. These voters did not vote for Rick Santorum; they voted for four more years of President Obama.

Text:

Voter: “My name is Krista Larsen. I’m a Democrat.”

Voter: “I’m Joe Disanno. I’m a democratic strategist in the state of Michigan.”

CNN’S Dana Bash: “Gary Zulinski.”

Tony Trupiano, progressive radio host: “I’m Tony Trupiano. [unintelligible]”

Bash: “And you voted for Rick Santorum?”

Voter: “I sure did.”

Bash: “…Went in there and you voted for?

Voter: “Santorum.”

Voter: “The last seven days we’ve been organizing and creating a list of Democrats who have committed to vote for Santorum in today’s election.”

Voter: “You know, it’s my way of protecting Obama.”

Trupiano: “I think Rick Santorum would be a weaker candidate. Of course he would be.”

Gary Zulinnski, Democrat: “It’s going to throw the GOP into some turmoil.”

Bash: “It’s not just going to be Michigan. The liberal blogs, they’re saying start in Michigan, but there are several other contests coming up with the same kind of open primary rules.”

This new video also goes hand-in-glove with Paul’s excellent article Let Me Repeat: Vote for Mitt; a Vote for Santorum is a Vote for Obama.

As early election returns began coming in last night, FOX News commentator Rich Lowry (National Review Online editor) commented on the tactic that sickened so many Republicans and Romney supporters – that Santorum himself had issued a rallying cry to Democrats to vote for him in order to stop Romney.

THEN, Lowry went on to say he was put-off by the way Romney “whined” about it.

I don’t know what Lowry was referring to. Romney had a very brief window of time to get the news out about Santorum. He stated the facts on Santorum’s gutter tactics, offered a brief opinion on said tactics, and moved on. NO whining.

As evidenced today, Romney’s new video focuses on Democrats’ correct perception that – should Santorum become the GOP nominee – Obama would clean his clock. The video does not mention Santorum’s own despicable doings in Michigan’s primary.

Lowry is flat-out wrong.

If any candidate should be entitled to a bit of whining, as Ross pointed out, it’s Mitt Romney.

The Gov isn’t a whiner. He’s a winner.

Santorum can’t sink any lower. I thought his political voting record was poor in the Senate,
now add poor character. Wearing your religion on your sleeve for votes is not working.Romney is receiving more of the Catholic vote.

  2. asalsedo says:

    These people are losing dogs.

  3. ccr says:

Not a surprise that Mitt was called out on his correct calling out of Santorum’s antics as “whining”. Have they called out Newt’s? of Rick’s? No.

I hope there are some ads in Oklahoma played “exposing” Santorum and his “I want to win at ANY cost” and “I’ll even go against my own principle” tactics.

  4. F. Ybarra says:

I think Santorum’s bubble has officially burst. The robocalls are the nail on his impending political coffin. Not that Romney supporters should take it for granted and breath a sigh of relief. We need to continue to relentlessly support Mitt against all the attacks from the media.

Even after Mitt’s win all they can talk about is “It would’ve been a disaster”, “an embarrassment”, “the end of his campaign” if he had lost Michigan. The truth is, even if he had lost Michigan, say come second to Santorum, he would still be far ahead of anyone else in delegates. He would still be the front runner! How can you say with a straight face that the guy who still leads by a large margin of delegates is finished or embarrassed. The only person who should be ashamed is Santorum for his dirty tactics of telling Democrats to vote against Mitt because he knows he is the weaker candidate. People, fortunately are not stupid and just like Gingrich, Perry, Cain, et all, Santorum is headed for his own personal nose dive into oblivion.

  5. cj says:

amen ccr! the other thing that made me soooo mad is that santy even used this line last night after his chest thumping listening to his own rhetoric so called speech, he said that mitt whinned about the robo calls and said some smirky remark. what a donkey’s tail!

  6. Robert and Helen Wells says:

Well, to add to cj, when San was asked about Mitt’s calling the robocall “dirty tricks” (and it certainly was), San went on to say “and what about Mitt using my voice back in 2008 saying I supported the best Conservative…that Romney was the best, etc.” That’s like comparing oranges to apples, for goodness sake! That’s exactly what San did in 2008! For him to compare the robocall to what he supported in 08 is ridiculous!!
Mitt needs to use the same line that Reagan did only change it a bit in a video:
“Would you consider using Santorum as your CEO? Would you call Santorum to re-structure your business if you were bankrupt?” etc etc

  7. rr says:

Maybe Liberal Democratics just like Santorum’s big spending voting record and the fact that he supports Planned Parenthood and that he’s willing to “take it” for the team…

Take it Rick – take it all!

  8. rr says:

There are two Senators in the Whitehouse now. How’s that working America? Santorum has the exact same experience a BO – he’s the Republican version of Obama.

  9. AfricansforRomney says:

Reverand/Father Santorum is travelling in a very dangerous road. Both parties use religion for political gains however, this guy is creating a cult. His speech last night was very creepy.

So far, you don’t hear from his supporters about his policy but, they’ve talked about his devotion to religion. His subliminal message is very obvious. He is keeping religion on the top of his campagin agenda so, he’s presenting himself to be an “alternative” candidate. This creepy guy is no good.

Can’t believe how low Santorum stooped in order to try to win Michigan by calling on Democrats there to vote against Romney. Again, a portrayal of his two-faced behavior that he has consistantly demonstrated while in Congress. Hot off the press today a new video of Santorum the devastating effect his support had on the U.S. by backing Arlen Specter the once Republican who the switched to be a Democrat And, his voting record. 11. GitchiGummiPress says:

Santorum supported, the Benedict Arnold of the Republican party, Arlen Specter for reelection. Specter once a Republican switched to be a democrat. Specter became the culminating and final vote for ObamaCare. For you conservatives out there, Specter then went on to call for the repeal of the Defense of Marriage Act. ObamaCare depending on the source states that it will cost between $400 billion and $1.2 trillion. The Congressional Budget Office states that the cost will be $829 billion with job losses totaling around 1.6 million. All because Santorum willingly supported the Specter. In fact, read the PA articles he was on a crusade to get him reelected.

  12. Barbara says:

Great news right now on TV! Governor Romney’s lead over Santorum has swung dramatically into double digits since his wins in Michigan, Arizona and Wyoming. It’s 10:10 A. M., Thursday March 1.
