Mitt Romney: “The Best…Most Qualified Candidate…Will be an Outstanding President” (guest post)

I LOVE THIS SHOT!

Another great photograph telling a great story!

Occasionally, we will publish opinions submitted to us by visitors that have studied Governor Romney over many years. Gary Chidester is a frequent visitor to MRC and he provided this powerful endorsement of Governor Romney. He informs us that he is a retired Iowa school teacher. This particular opinion carries some additional weight in my mind because Chidester personally spoke to all four candidates while they campaigned in Iowa.

Mr. Chidester’s Op-Ed below nails it! I wish to add that Governor Romney is far superior to any of the remaining candidates in so many ways; but as an executive leader, the other three don’t even come close. Governor Romney has worked most of his career as a chief executive of major organizations. Even if you combined the careers of Santorum, Gingrich, and Paul (~100 years), there is no comparison to the years of executive experience of Governor Romney! Think about it.

By Gary Chester

I have been a Romney Republican, since 2007. He is the BEST candidate we have had in decades! When his issues and vision for America were shown to my friends, (as from Candidate X), almost everyone agreed that ‘this’ was the candidate they would support. When I told them that Gov. Romney was the candidate, nearly everyone started to fudge about their decision.

I am, however, surprised and saddened that some of my dear Iowa Republican friends are still playing the ‘religion’ card. For such an enlightened State, I’m ashamed that this one issue is the Achilles’ heel of the general mindset. Sadly, most Americans are the same way. If Gov. Romney would have been a Methodist or a Baptist, he probably would have been the Republican nominee in 2008 and would have won the election that Fall.

As a member of the United Methodist Church, I can recall how, as a child, several Baptist classmates would boldly tell me where Methodists were ‘going.’ Or, how I absolutely could NOT date a girl in my class… because she was Catholic.

There IS a simple “Litmus Test” in the Bible, to see if a person is Christian or not. It is in 1 John 4:2… “This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh IS from God”… and I recall when Gov. Romney stated that Jesus Christ was his Lord and Savior. That issue should have been settled years ago, but some people enjoy keeping the Republican Party split, and in a weakened condition.

Just like the Obama plot to push the ‘not Romney’ candidate… and sure enough, people start believing it. I believe that Gov. Romney is a true American Patriot. His knowledge and experience, on both foreign and domestic issues, is remarkable. His vision to restore America is realistic. His family values are impeccable. Mitt Romney is bright, articulate, and compassionate. Mitt is a good man, and has been faithfully married to his ‘one’ wife, Ann, for over 42 years. The fact that Gov. Romney has changed his mind on some issues, over the years, have been for the better. Over the past 60 years, even I have changed my mind on several issues.

Rick Santorum is a good man, as is my dentist. But if I needed brain surgery, I certainly would not have my dentist do the operation. Newt Gingrich is an excellent historian, but with 3 wives, 3 religions, and bipolar tendencies, I would not want him to be President. I have watched all of the debates, and honestly believe that Gov. Mitt Romney is the best candidate to get this country back on its feet. Newt wants a colony living on the Moon in 9 years. Rick has major issues within the Catholic Church’s health program, and shows stress when ‘under the gun’… as at the Arizona Debate.

Mitt can make tough decisions under pressure. I have talked with all four candidates, while they campaigned in Iowa, with pictures to prove it. I have listened to all of the candidates. All of them have some really good ideas on how to make our country better. Some of them have detailed plans on how to create a stronger job market, securing our borders, reducing the national debt, and making the American Dream possible for the youth of today. Taking all of this into account, and with my eyes wide open, I’m confident, with no reservations, that Gov. Mitt Romney is the best candidate to become the Republican Party’s nominee for President. Mitt is the most qualified candidate, he has the ability to unite the Republican Party before the November election, and he will be an outstanding President. America needs a man of his caliber in the White House.

It’s sad to say that most self professed Christians are by far the most self righteous people. They feel that they are favored by God and they have this attitude of being prejudice of people who do not share their religious views. In short they are “Bigots” and “Ignorant”. Truth is we all worship the same God. I believe Mitt’s being Mormon is the major factor why he still hasn’t got the nomination.
I am not an American, yet I can discern who is the most qualified to be the US president. And I agree it’s Mitt. No question about it! The others don’t even come close to an inch.

“Wow! Candidate X sounds like our guy! It’s who? (Nervousness showing…) Well…I…ah…you know…the Mormon thing…”

How sad and short-sighted attitudes like that are. I’d be willing to bet that if pressured to give specific reasons for their hesitancy to vote for Mitt—and pretending that Mitt was a member of their own faith–they wouldn’t be able to come up with any reasons. AND…if pinned as to just what negative effects Mitt’s Mormonism would have on his presidency, they wouldn’t be able to give an intelligent answer to that question either.

Fortunately, there are many non-LDS folks who have gotten over the I-couldn’t-vote-for-a-Mormon “hump” and have realized that a vote for Mitt is not going to cost them their salvation (or whatever spiritual loss they had concerns about because of it). Mitt’s the man for the job, and his commitment to his beliefs will only make him a better president–one who is deeply resolute and determined to accomplish what what he has said he would accomplish as president.

As a side note, the folks at Evangelicals for Mitt dot org have issued a “call” for everyone who is a Mitt Romney supporter to join them in a national day of fasting and prayer the Monday before Super Tuesday. You can read the article here: http://evangelicalsformitt.org/2012/02/fasting-for-america/

I’m in, and I hope you’ll join us also.

No other candidate in the Republican Primary has been able to endure public scrutiny as Mitt Romney has. It is a true testament to his strong core, integrity and pragmatism.

  4. G laurie says:

Religion is a major factor. All my life has been spent suffering the verbal abuse of other self righteous Christians. They no virtually nothing about me or my faith except what some agendas talking head generally full of bigotry. Has preached to them. Moore Romney if he lives his religion is a first class human being as to his ability to run the USA That should be the only thing left for American folks to qualify for themselves. Oh give me truths said Emerson I am tired of the surfaces !!

  5. All: Thank you for your comments.

When you hear the MSM, FAUX News, and the pundits ask this question:

“Why can’t Romney connect with conservatives…? Just remember that it is code for:

“Please give me the answer that I want to hear [that you don't like Romney's religion...."]

Thanks again for the comments. For what it is worth, Governor Romney’s campaign is well aware of this bias and at MRC we do not want to belabor it or take an overt approach to it. Rather, we prefer to focus on the overwhelming, amazing attributes of our candidate. Ultimately, Governor Romney will prevail I believe because America is a nation of great people with great principles based in great Judeo-Christian values.

Let’s not get into the dividers wagon out there. Religion is very personal for all of us. I’m pretty sure Democrats wants to distruct us from the real issues that we’re facing from Obama misearable failed leadership.

I’ve confidence that Gov Romney will fight for relgion liberty for all, individual liberty for all. I hope Gov Romney won’t engage into specific religion discussions.

    Independents for Romney!!!
