I’m looking forward to hearing The Gov punch through Gingrich’s glib gobbledygook.
As usual, Romney supporters are invited to join us on our chat box throughout the evening.
Let the gloves fly, Mitt!

NOT THE HEADLINES NEWT WAS LOBBYING FOR…
Politico Headline: “Republican Debate: Mitt Romney Mauls Newt Gingrich In Florida”
· Politico: “Romney kept at it throughout the first half of the debate, criticizing Gingrich for having been rebuked by his GOP colleagues in the House, earning money as an advocate for Freddie Mac and teaming up with Nancy Pelosi to talk about global warming.” (Alexander Burns, “Republican Debate: Mitt Romney Mauls Newt Gingrich In Florida,” Politico, 1/23/12)

· The New York Times: “During an answer from Newt Gingrich about his time as a consultant, Mr. Romney pounced. It was the first time that the former Massachusetts governor went after Mr. Gingrich — directly — with fervor. And he wouldn’t let go. The back and forth exchange, with Mr. Romney unloading one after another accusation, went on for several minutes. Mr. Romney accused Mr. Gingrich of being an influence peddler. He accused him of being paid by Freddie Mac. He said Mr. Gingrich had lobbied Republican lawmakers on health issues while getting paid by health care companies. He accused him of falsely claiming that he was paid to be a historian. And he did them all to Mr. Gingrich’s face.” (Michael D. Shear, “In Shift, Romney Pounds Directly And Relentlessly On Gingrich At Debate,” The New York Times, 1/23/12)

As Gingrich left the House to become ‘an influence peddler,’ Romney said he was running the Olympic Games and beginning ‘a very successful turnaround’ in Massachusetts. And, as Romney said he was ‘fighting cap and trade’ and supporting Rep. Paul Ryan’s plan to overhaul Medicare, Gingrich was ‘sitting down with Nancy Pelosi on a sofa’ and accusing Ryan of ‘right-wing social engineering.’” (Michael Memoli, “GOP Debate: Aggressive Romney Calls Gingrich An ‘Influence Peddler’,” Los Angeles Times, 1/23/12)

· Politico: “Gingrich – adamant that he wasn’t a lobbyist as he explained why he only released one year of his Freddie Mac contract, which dated back to 1999 (he uttered something about going through a confidentiality process) – volunteered that at his firm they’d brought in a ‘lobbying expert’ to explain to his team what qualified as lobbying and what didn’t. … But why one would hire a ‘lobbying expert’ other than to explain to staff how to walk up to the ‘bright line’ Gingrich described, but not legally cross it, was not clear.” (Maggie Haberman, “Newt’s Unforced Error,” Politico, 1/23/12)

Exit question: Will Newt’s long pause after one of Gov. Romney’s assertions hurt him?

Newt Gingrich for President: the man who had two of his daughters from his first wife explain why his second wife was lying to the media about his third wife…….

Can someone please unban me please?!
Mitt is an honorable man who loves his country and all of us who love this country need to support him. I will NEVER vote for Gingrich. I will rather have Obama a second term, then maybe Americans will all stand up and fight for the freedom of this nation.
Sorry. Mitt is doing better but I just cannot listen to Newt. I’ll have to read about it in the morning.
What channel exactly is this on???!!
Go MITT Go! Good job!
What NBC channel?? I can’t find it and I have cable!
I couldn’t find the debate. How is Mitt doing. I’m a nervous wreck herein Seattle.
Loose cannon Gingrich cannot handle the TRUTH. We cannot afford a loose cannon Gingrich presidency with the current 13% congress approvals. Gov Romney must articulate his electability message to voters.
Gingrich=Losse cannon
IF Newt was only a ‘consultant’ at Freddie — wouldn’t that mean that Newt is responsible for them going bankrupt which is the reason we are in a depression — millions losing their homes and the others who haven’t lost their home have lost almost half the value?
Newt ‘AIN’T’ the business man Mitt is . . .
MITT IS THE ONLY CANDIDANTE WHO CAN TURN AMERICAN AROUND!
Hi Jayde,
I assume you helped me get un-banned. It was great. And I was really enjoying talking to people after the debate tonight. Everything I said was very civil. But then someone else named “Tom” (which was my own scren name) appeared and started talking. People called him a troll, etc., and suddenly I found myself banned again. It was not me! Please help! I am a strong Mitt supporter!
I wish Mitt would come out and look the camera in the eye and tell Floridians that he’d bomb Iran on day one of his Presidency. Not to pander to the voter, but to show what a great leader he is.
Great idea to have the live link on the home page of MRC. This is where I come for all of latest on Mitt, and to not have to go digging for the link was very convenient. As for who won? Everyone knows Mitt was the victor tonight. I hope Mitt continues his inquiries on these points and does not allow Newt to swat the questions aside without really answering them. There are people who haven’t been following the race so closely who are now just waking up to the fact that this is an election year. State by state, one by one, those people deserve to know the truth about the kind of person and politician Newt was and is. I once stated that I would use the word “narcissist” if asked to describe Gingrich in a word. I changed that tonight, and now I would use the word “liar”. As in the pathological sort. SC is far behind in the review mirror, and in FL, Mitt won’t be hometowned in a kangaroo court, but Newt might find himself in the ghetto.
@BMA
Looks to me like an open marriage was going on for seven years without the 2nd wife’s approval (if I remember right, didn’t the 3rd wife say they were seeing each other for seven years?).
Excellent performance…more relaxed as you connected with the people and challenged others
Mitt Romney
Right on!@Lee Dietrich
Newt Gingrich is NOT the second coming of Ronald Reagan!
Newt Gingrich……….has NO CORE.
We NEED Mitt to SAVE the SOUL of the GOP!! Then…….we’ll save the SOUL of America!!
OMG….first off…it’s so good to know that strong Mitt Romney supporters actually exist. Listening to people speak, you would think that Mitt Romney is Satan himself….sheesh.
Second, I am proud of how Mitt Romney performed last night. Contrary to what certain pundits said, he completely took Gingrinch off his game. Gingrich wasn’t quite so smug after that.
People have to face facts: Whether you like it or not, Mitt is the ONLY candidate who stands a chance against Obama. If people want things to continue as they are, then go ahead and vote for Gingrinch….just don’t come crying when things remain the same.
Mitt, stay strong! We support you, this land of America, a land of freedom needs a warrior like you. Hundred of people are behind you, you are not alone, you have a higher power that will sustain you.
