Fmr NH State Rep Mooney Mulled Perry or Romney… Chooses ROMNEY

She was on a plane flying out of New Hampshire, heading to Texas… not too long ago.

She was going to twist Rick Perry’s arm to get in the presidential race.

She spoke with the Texas Governor.

She got her wish.

She’s been watching and waiting.

She’s been mulling.

She has endorsed Mitt Romney.

Former NH State Rep and prominent New Hampshire social conservative Maureen Mooney has added to Rick Perry’s terrible, horrible, no good day. (NH State Rep Norman Major flipped from Perry to Romney last night.)

Romney Snatches Major Social Conservative Endorsement From Perry

Prominent social conservative Maureen Mooney tells WMURPoliticalScoop.com she is endorsing Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign, even months after she was among a very small group who flew from New Hampshire to Texas to encourage Rick Perry to run for president.

This is Mitt’s time and this is his year,” she said. “He has been a friend of New Hampshire for years now and is very supportive of the New Hampshire Republican Party, candidates locally, the county and state. Furthermore, he demonstrates a sharpness in every debate we have seen him in that will match up well against Barack Obama. That is precisely what we need.”

Mooney’s endorsement comes ahead the Cornerstone Action fundraising dinner tonight with keynote speaker Rick Perry. And, yes, Mooney will be there.
[...]
Mooney, of Merrimack, is a former state representative, and state Republican Party treasurer.

From the UnionLeader.com:

UPDATE: MOONEY WITH MITT.

Following our exclusive report early today that veteran state Rep. Norman Major, R-Plaistow, has “flipped” from Texas Gov. Rick Perry to former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, conservative former state Rep. Maureen Mooney of Merrimack told us she is also backing Romney.
[...]
Mooney was among a small group of Granite Staters who traveled to Austin, Tex., in August to talk to Perry when he was considering running for President. But while others then backed Perry when he became a candidate, she said she went to Austin uncommitted, returned uncommitted and had been uncommitted until two weeks ago, when she decided on Romney.
[...]
Mooney cited the former Massachusetts governor’s “private business sector background and a proven record of being able to turn around corporations. That’s clearly what this country needs now.”

She said Romney’s “better experience in the private sector” than Perry “will draw a clear line of distinction between him and President Obama.”

Ms. Mooney, your endorsement is marvelous!

    Gloating isn’t presidential.

I have been thinking about the ridiculous purity test the Tea Party is putting on the candidates and especially Mitt so far and it got me to thinking of what they would say if Reagan were running today. So I thought I would do a comparison of mitt and Reagan’s records. I found some of these facts on a Politico post.

Which candidate passed the most liberal abortion law in the nation, No-Fault Divorce & raised taxes–ditto passed the gun control Mulford Act? (Answer Reagan)

While in office which candidate hiked the debt and significantly expanded the size of the federal government? (Answer Reagan)

Which candidate raised taxes 11 times? (Answer Reagan)

Which candidate tripled the Gross National Debt from 900 billion to 2.7 trillion? (Answer Reagan)

Which candidate DIDN’T eliminate a single federal government department. In fact, he added the Department of Veteran Affairs? (Answer Reagan)

Which candidate passed mandated healthcare? (Answer both)

Which candidate expanded Social Security? (Answer Reagan)

Which candidate created the concept of market based Cap & Trade? (Answer Reagan)

Which candidate supported anti poverty program EITC? (Answer Reagan)

Which candidate lobbied to pass the federal Assault Weapons Ban & the Brady Bill? (Answer Reagan)

Which candidate negotiated with terrorists? (Answer Reagan)

Which candidate passed (“one time only”-ditto betrayed by a Democrat congress) amnesty to 3 million illegals? (Answer Reagan)

Which candidate vetoed his liberal congress 78 times in 8 years? (Answer Reagan)
Which candidate vetoed his far left legislature over 800 times in 4 years? (Answer Romney)

Which candidate balanced his fiscal budget? (Answer Romney)

So who is the true conservative? (Answer Both)

The Tea Party needs to knock it off and look at Mitt’s real record, not the narrative that is being promulgated by the media and his opponents.

    Thanks for the comment, Robb.

Michael Reagan (President Reagan’s son) was on FOX News today with Megyn Kelly and pointed out some of what you’ve written.

Kelly stated that there has been “a lot of incoming from Perry at Romney lately.” Reagan repeatedly pointed out that Rick Perry’s attacks on Romney are only hurting Perry.

Reagan also said that everybody on the GOP debate stage can be labeled a flip-flopper because they’ve all changed their minds at some time on an issue.

    @Robb F
I am a tea party member who will vote for Mitt, however he has a lot of work to do to win over people who do not trust him the Ohio flap was not helpful.

  5. stuntman says:

Jayde is this endorsor really a Moonie?

  6. Abc123 says:

That was not an Ohio flap….he needed time to give a clear concise decision.

  7. Katrina says:

I just want to say to mean Perry, booyah! Sorry, that was immature.

And to Michael up there who said that gloating wasn’t presidential, this is a fan site. Mitt Romney didn’t write or approve the above referenced articles. He stays mostly above the fray. But don’t begrudge his supporters a feeling of victory when Perry eats his own pie, sleeps in the bed he made, etc., etc. He’s been down-right dirty in his attacks on Mitt Romney, and he really is self-destructing as a presidential hopeful. Call it karma or casting your bread upon the water, but Rick Perry is now reaping the fruit of seeds of marginalization and dishonesty he once sowed. In short, he deserves his loss of support.

Support an honest man for president of the United States. Vote Mitt 2012!

  8. Marvin Hernandez Suarez says:

Agree with Ms Mooney. It’s time for Mitt and its time American economy to turn around.

  9. ccr says:

    @Robb F

This is excellent for all those “purists” out there that live in lalaland of “perfect” people.

Is this the only way to link those thoughts?

  10. Jane Lawler-Savitske says:

    @Robb F
Thanks, Robb for this GREAT Reply! I am a Romney Supporter [since before the last Election], but I’m also a Tea Party leader in Northern Virginia [near DC]. When Mitt came the other Day, I was there in my 2008 Tea Shirt and waving my MITT mit! I was interviewed by four media outlets from Germany, Great Britain, Japan and Sweden! GEE, I wonder why no one talked to me from the Local News, although I was pictured a few times on the ABC affiliate?
I kept on reiterating that they need to read Mitt’s book, No Apology [which he autographed for ME!] and to STOP manipulating what he says. He is NOT a flip-flopper like GOV Rick Perry! I have other Tea Party friends here, who are also STRONG Romney Supporters. It’s all being controlled by the Media, just like last time = Manipulation of the Elections!

  11. ccr says:

    Thanks for sharing, Jane!!!

  12. colleen says:

It’s a good thing when people reverse an earlier decision that made sense at the time to a more informed or selective decision to reverse an earlier decision. That’s not flip flopping. That’s time tested honesty and analysis — with the courage to state why the decision is now revised.

Why do pencils have erasers! Does everything that we type or say instantly have eternal verity!!! LOL. Why do we get so rigid and play got ya instead of why did you change your view?

Maybe politics needs a more more adults and journalism needs a few less teenagers keeping score.

Jan’s comment on being interviewed by international media outlets and yet ignored by her local news people gives us a clue to self centered media prognosticators who are are not wanting facts but to maintain the politically correct story that Mitt and the Tea Party folks are miles apart. I’m not. And proud to have both stickers on my vehicle.

  13. Jane Lawler-Savitske says:

@ Colleen, I’m Proud to have both stickers on my car too!
I still have my Mitt 2008 Oval, just to show that I was for Mitt before a was forced to vote for McCain in the General Election; but only because he chose Sarah Palin to run as VP!
They just seem to like to persecute nice people and twist the TRUTH!
Now I hear that TP people are trying to get rid of Michele Bachmann, and that RED State and other “Conservative outlets” are bashing Mitt. It is up to his loyal supporters to get out there and write Letters to the Editors and continue Blogging!
My 90 year-old Mother in MA is so upset at all of the Mitt bashing, that she is cheering me on to get the word out! We all have to do it.
Living so close to the White House, it makes me GAG to think of that nasty man living there one day longer than necessary!
