It’s early… but Governor Romney is doing well in Michigan:
Lansing — Support in Michigan for native son Mitt Romney is far ahead of the backing for any other GOP presidential hopefuls, according to a new statewide poll.
The poll was taken after Romney’s June 9 visit to Detroit and the June 13 GOP debate in which he made clear his opposition to the federal bailouts of General Motors Corp. and Chrysler LLC, which many credit with saving the automakers and their suppliers.
(emphasis added)
Mitt Romney – 28.7%
Sarah Palin – 5.8%
Michele Bachmann – 4.5%
Tim Pawlenty – 2.8%
Newt Gingrich – 1.8%
Attorney General Bill Schuette, Romney’s statewide chairman in Michigan, said he’s “very pleased” by the numbers, but it’s early and “the most important poll is the one in 2012.”
The poll was commissioned by the bipartisan Lansing public relations firm Lambert, Edwards & Associates and The Perricone Group and conducted June 16-17 by Denno Research. Chuck Perricone is a former GOP House Speaker. Dennis Denno is a former Democratic communications expert.

Obama moves to Mitt’s position on health care. This is from an article at usatoday.com comparing health care legislation in Massachusetts versus Federal legislation.
The law allows states to run their own programs as long as they cover at least as many people at no additional cost to the federal government. Obama says he would sign legislation letting states go it alone in 2014, rather than waiting for 2017.
“I agree with Mitt Romney, who recently said he’s proud of what he accomplished on health care in Massachusetts and supports giving states the power to determine their own health care solutions,” Obama said in February. “We believe in that flexibility.”

I think a whole lot of people would strongly disagree with this article, don’t you?
Percentages don’t add up with what is listed! and Ron Paul is not on the list! I checked the article and it leaves Ron Paul off…so it is a very biased article!
No doubt Mitt you are doing well but Ron is doing better. For all those that say Ron is too EXTREME take note! He stands for Abolishing the FED (very needed), and doing everything by the God inspired CONSTITUTION!!
LOVE you Mitt! But love Ron Paul too! You both need to be on the ticket to win against Obama..IF we still have a country to govern by then!
Mitt Romney seems to be moving forward as the strongest candidate we have.
He made a BIG difference in Massachusetts. I feel he has everything except for Foreign
policy strength. He could find the right vice president he could lead this race. It will make a difference who he has around him and plans to hire to run the Foreign affairs too.
We support him 100%
I understand what you’re saying the issue is that Michigan may be too liberal for RP. He may have strong supporters, but not enough in MI. I don’t believe I saw Herman Cain on there either. They probably just don’t have the numbers in MI to be significant.
This is an odd poll because they polled 43% Dems, 36% Repubs, 18% indies, but asked only about Repub. candidates (assuming an open primary election). Donna was right about the percentages don’t add up because with 43% of those asked being Dems, a lot of people probably didn’t care (especially this early). Sure enough here are the missing numbers: “Another 26 percent were undecided, 18 percent said they wouldn’t vote in the primary, and 8 percent said they didn’t like any names mentioned.” It would’ve been more interesting to see who of the Dems would make an effort to vote in a Repub primary, where the candidates stand wrto D vs R vs I voters, etc.
