Round 2 recap: We had our first #1 seed upset in Division B where (1)Bobby Jindal went down to (5)Condi Rice 53%-47%. In fact, all #1-4 seeds in Div. B have all been in eliminated. We also had our closest competition of the tournament where Allen West defeated Mike Pence by only 2 points. Had a single person who voted for West voted for Pence instead it would have been an exact tie. Of the eight candidates remaining four are non-white/Caucasian, two are female, three are/were Governors, two are Senators and two are Congressmen.
On to the Elite Eight!
Who would you want as Mitt Romney’s VP? The third round polls are below. Voting for this round will go until Tuesday.
In each poll below pick which of the two candidates you’d most like to see as the VP pick in 2012.

I put Haley over Rubio for two reasons: 1) By values, I see them as equally staunch conservatives, but Haley vacating a governorship would not hurt a Romney presidency the way a vacated Florida Senate set would.
2) Rubio just got into the Senate. I’d like to see him finish a 6yr term first.
Still, having a woman on the ticket would be interesting again, since it’s only the third time. RIP Ferraro.
Real tough calls, I like West the Best, and I think that would help with Florida and the South, and Mitt will need that help. Ryan and Christie have made it crystal that if nominated they will not run, and if elected they will not serve. Haley is intriguing, Rubio is a rising star and would do much of what West can do except for the military side, Demint, too much of a pointy stick to the progressives to garner much support from the middle ground voter.
MARSHA BLACKBURN FOR V-P
My pick is still Mitt Romney/Condoleezza Rice.
I’m still shocked she beat Jindal though. I was certain Jindal would win the entire thing.
(By the way Nate, Condoleezza has an “o” after the “d” and two “z”s.)
My NCAA brackets and my VP brackets are equally destroyed. I wonder why I am not called on more for prognostication. Hmmm.
I voted for Tim Pawlenty. The rest of the choices are too bad to contemplate.
@Ralph
Thanks. I changed it.
Go Christie….!!! And Carolina…!! :)
Condi. Love her.
On a side note, anybody see this hatchet-job on Mormons by Maureen Dowd? It’s worse than the one she wrote in ’08. Not that she cares.

I think the best candidate is Chris Christie, however I think that their is about zero chance of him being picked by Romney just because they are both from the North East. I also am a bit surprized that Huckabee dropped so fast. He didn’t make it out of one bracket. I can’t say I am a fan of his, but I think he would add something to the ticket. Mitt could get us the real swing states and Mike could shore up the Bible belt. I think that is probably the most successful ticket. ROMNEY/HUCKABEE 2012
This bracket is by far the most awesome post you’ve ever done. I love it! I check it every day!
Sarah Palin
You need to look deeper in Christie, he is not the conservative that you think he is. Also look deeper into Allen West. He is a leader and a patriot, and the kind of person we need.
No one here wants to be VP or has a chance except TPaw and Condi.
Believe it or not, I like Herman Cain.
