The straw poll results have been announced, Allen West has finished speaking, most of the bloggers are off to the bars… CPAC 2011 is over and winding down.
Governor Mitt Romney gave a remarkable speech (with a special intro by Ann Romney), and performed very well in the straw poll.
We’ve had an extraordinary time here at the convention. We met a lot Romney fans, got acquainted with a number of our readers, had great discussions with all sorts of conservatives, and did a number of interviews with various media and blogs. We’ve also made some good connections that will help us in promoting our site, as well as networked with other pro-Romneyites that will help us in promoting Romney.
It doesn’t hurt that we probably sold a few of our shirts along the way (since most of us were sporting them through the halls.)
We want to give a big thanks to those who support us by reading our content, sharing links on Facebook and Twitter, and leaving comments on our posts. But the biggest thanks of this evening goes to those who donated to help us get here because our trip would not have happened otherwise. We still have some costs to make up and would still appreciate any purchases from our store to assist in bearing the financial burdens of the site.
Also (before I forget), thanks to Ross, David, Luke, Aaron, Jeff, and the many others who made the trip here to support Romney in the straw poll and listen to the great speakers of the conference. It is fun and enjoyable, but still a sacrifice of funds and time away from family and work.
This is going to be a fun and interesting year in politics as the GOP primary shifts into gear – starting in 3..2..1…
MRC’s own Rebel Ross shot a little video footage of the surprise post-speech party for Governor Romney:

I was happy to donate. I appreciate all you do to promote Mitt. Keep up the good work.
Thanks.
It was somewhat surreal to meet some of the people from this site. Hope I didn’t miss anyone who was there?!
I wish I could have gone!! :(
Stupid Utah Bar exam…
Good job to all of you on the MRC team covering it. I’m glad that several of you were able to attend. I wish I could have, but it was enjoyable following the speeches and news here in the Chat box.
It is still very early, but apparently Mitt has been invited to speak at this year’s SRLC. We’ll have to wait and see if he chooses to attend, but I hope that he does. He won the straw poll last year, by one vote, and as it is the weekend of June 16-18, the major players in the 2012 field should all be announced and ready to make their cases to the voters.
I’ll share a few thoughts on CPAC and also ramble a bit. I went with my brother. Neither of us had been before. It was informative and entertaining. I enjoyed seeing members of the GOP walking around speaking with people. Many of the speeches were good and others, surprisingly, VERY good. Haley Barbour gave a good speech. My brother, Chris, said the Governor of Puerto Rico gave a good speech. Rep. Allen West gave a great speech. Chris also said Herman Cain gave a good speech. We both missed John Bolton. I believe he is one of the brightest minds in the GOP.
I always enjoy hearing Ann Coulter. She is what I consider an “opportunity.” She likes Gov. Christie, Christie likes Mitt. A few Governor Romney speeches after he announces and she will be on board.
I did not see Ron Paul or Rand Paul speak. I wish I had. Both are very smart men. Many of their supporters were …….hmmmmm…. I’ll just say SPIRITED. On second thought, obnoxious.
I went to see Mitt speak. I took my coat off a minute or two after he started speaking to give me more leverage to clap and yell ….!!!
I have a very large extended family and with the exception of my brother-in-law (Herman Cain supporter) I’ve had great success in introducing Mitt to the family.
I’m currently working on my colleagues. I just joined an ESPN fantasy baseball league a colleague started. There are ten of us in the group. The name of my team is the Washington Park Mitt. Washington Park is the name of my VERY old neighborhood. Mitt works well for the team name (baseball) though I have yet to post a photo of my team. It will, of course, be of Romney :) They don’t know that but will in a few days. It will give me nine new opportunities.
Very quick thank you to Rebel Ross….!
I hope everyone at MRC has a great week.
