Mitt Romney to Appear on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno

UPDATE – Videos from last night’s episode of The Tonight Show are found here

Set your DVR’s… Mitt Romney will be a guest on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno — this Wednesday, December 1st! We’ll be sure to post the video here at MRC as soon as it becomes available.

If I recall correctly, the last time Mitt met with Leno was just after several grueling primaries, early in 2008 — Mitt had finished with a ‘Silver’ in both Iowa and New Hampshire and a ‘Gold’ in Michigan and Wyoming. Leno asked Mitt how he was holding up after some pretty nasty competition in those early states, to which Mitt replied jokingly:

“I do fine. You know, I start off the day with a ‑‑ actually with a bowl of granola. My wife makes granola. Before I go on a trip, she gets out the oats and honey and sesame seeds and chops up the almonds. So I take a bowl and have granola in the morning, and then I jog every other day three miles, and then at the end of the day, just to really relax, I take off a dark suit like this and put on a light one.”

Expect similar humor from Mitt this time around (and keep your fingers crossed for some talk about his eventual announcement to run for President). Here’s to hoping Mitt can take some of those ‘Silvers’ from last time around and trade them in for ‘Golds’! Go Mitt!

5 Responses to Mitt Romney to Appear on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno

  1. Leno: Gov. Romney, this Mass mandate thing, will it be a problem if you decide to run?

Romney: Jay, while everyone may not be aware of the fact, the truth is that, right now, every state already has a health care mandate: in every state tax, income and sales taxes, general revenues, wind up going to reimburse hospitals and other medical facilities for the treatment of patients who enter their doors without insurance. In Mass, we recognized this, and tried to cut down on Average Joe Taxpayer being forced to pay for so much of these costs…

    ET CETERA…

  2. Jon E. S. says:

I wonder if the Fox News crew will feel slighted about this. I can just see them saying…”oh sure, trying to stay out of the limelight huh? You won’t let us interview you but you’ll go on Jay Leno???!!”

  3. Stacy Peacock says:

I think Gov Romney will be a GREAT President — I hope he does not wait for things get to un-fixablely bad to announce his bid for the Oval Office. Why, heck…Obama was not even born in America (as stated by himself…he was born in Kenya)

  4. Brian Roastbeef says:

The first half of tonight’s interview:

Leno: SARAH PALIN SARAH PALIN SARAH PALIN!!!!!

    Romney: Um…yeah, she’s okay, I guess.

    Leno: SARAH PALIN! SARAH! PALIN!

    Romney: Fine individual.

Leno: Say something bad about Sarah Palin already!

Romney: Oh no… No way. I don’t need that sort of grief…
    ——

Granted, the second half was more substantial. Leno effectively endorsed every part of the Obama agenda, giving Romney opportunity to pick it apart, which he did thoroughly. Health care was never touched… mostly economic stuff.

  5. The hoops one needs to jump through…makes me sick.
