With mid-term elections pushing presidential considerations into the ask-me-later department (according to potential presidential candidates), and twists and turns still to be taken on the thoroughfare to the White House 2012, this is still good to hear:
From Dave Wedge (Boston Globe):
Poll shows Romney has best shot at beating Obama
Former Bay State Gov. Mitt Romney has the best shot at unseating President Obama in 2012, trailing the commander-in-chief by just two points in a new national poll.
The Zogby poll of 8,487 likely voters showed Obama slightly besting Romney 45 to 43 percent. Romney has yet to say if he’s running again but the venture capitalist has been traveling the country raising money for Republicans and handing out endorsements in state races.
The president would fare far better against Sarah Palin, garnering 48 percent of the vote to Palin’s 37. And Obama would beat former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee 46 to 37, the poll found.
Addendum by Nate:
Nice little news report from NECN about the Zogby poll:
UPDATE by Jayde: Public Policy Polling released a new poll of New Hampshire’s GOP voters regarding the 2012 presidential race:
Mitt Romney -31 percent
Newt Gingrich – 14 percent
Ron Paul – 13 percent
Mike Huckabee – 12 percent
Sarah Palin – 9 percent
Tim Pawlenty – 3 percent
Mitch Daniels – 1 percent
Someone else/undecided – 16 percent

Do like. However, I keep thinking of 2006/07, when the conventional wisdom had Hillary going up against Giuliani in 2008, and we saw how that changed.
Keep your heads up and your armor tight, peeps. Let’s keep working to get him in it next year.
This is music to my ears! :)
Just pick a good sound running mate….someone tried and experienced in politics….NOT Sarah even tho personally she is a good person….not strong……..I love Mitt…the running mate can make or break his run…
Romney/Condy in 2012!
I like the NECN report. You know we’ve been saying “it’s early to talk about 2012″ for a long time, but the Nov. 2010 elections are right around the corner & 2011 less than 6 mos away .. it’s not really “early” anymore; the announcements for running will hit early in 2011 & if you don’t have name recognition now, it’s too late. I doubt there will be any “new names” out there next year that can be taken seriously.
I like the NECN report, too. Good find, Nate.
Good comments, everyone! Thanks.
Actually, what I find most interesting about that poll is the fact that Obama can’t get above 48% – not even against Tom Selleck or Chuck Norris.
I belive Governor Romney is the best man for the top of the ticket. That’s why I voted for him in the 2008 primary. I was disheartened to see McCain as our nominee, but had some hope when Palin made the ticket. Unfortunately, the subprime time bomb erased any hope we had of winning the White House. I hope Governor Romney becomes President Romney, perhaps with Bobby Jindal at his side, and fixes this mess that the Anti-American left has made for us. We need their help.
I wonder who will design Ann’s inag. ball gown?
We need Mitt……We need Mitt….We need Mitt…..Fight for what is right for America…..
Great post, Jayde….you did it again….Hugs, Paulee
