Chris Cillizza, from the “The Fix“, once again ranks Mitt Romney as one of the most influential voices within the Republican party. Here is what he had to say about Mitt’s recent activities:
The former Massachusetts governor is slowly and methodically rolling out endorsements in state after state, acting like what he is: the current frontrunner for the 2012 Republican nomination. Romney still has questions to answer: Can he empathize with voters distressed about the economy? Will he compete in Iowa? But there are fewer unknowns surrounding Romney than anyone else looking at the race.
Here is the full list of those that made the top ten:
1. Haley Barbour 2. Mitt Romney 3. Sarah Palin 4. Chris Christie 5. Tim Pawlenty 6. Scott Brown 7. Newt Gingrich 8. Nikki Haley 9. Bobby Jindal 10. Mike Huckabee
The top five are pictured up above in order of their rank.
P.S. There is a poll at the end of the post. I suggest that you go vote.

I love that picture of Chris Christie :)
I’m actually a little concerned about that picture of Governor Christie. I think it’s kind of cute, but others might consider it a bad picture. Most supports of Romney also like Governor Christie – RomneyCentral should be careful not to offend them.
A lot of us would love a Romney/Christie ticket! Or an endorsement from the governor.
I wouldn’t worry too much… If they know Christie, then they know he has thick skin. http://bit.ly/aQAedf
Great post, you can vote to reorder the 1-10 spots. I did with Mitt as number one. Once submitted it showed total votes and Mitt is ahead of Haley Barbour in votes as number 1.
I don’t understand why Jim DeMint, Jan Brewer, or Michele Bachmann are not on that list. DeMint has been very influential in these GOP primaries with his Senate Conservative Fund. Jan Brewer has become the government symbol against illegal immigration, and Michele Bachmann has been one of the biggest Obama critics out there. Nothing against Nikki Haley or Scott Brown, but I don’t believe either or them belongs on that list. Huckabee doesn’t either, as evidenced by the paltry showing of his endorsements. Either Haley Barbour or Mitt does belong at #1. We all know what Mitt has been doing, but Barbour is a master of influence as well. He was the GOP National Chairman in 1994, when the GOP took over Congress. He’s a VERY good behind-the-scenes mover and shaker, and anyone who discounts him in that arena is making a huge mistake.
I have watched Mitt Romney support fellow conservatives. His track record of getting Republicans elected, including Scott Brown, is far more successful than Obama’s record of assisting Dems to get elected. Given his ability to lead, his integrity, his stance on terrorism, the border problems with Mexcio and his understanding of economics, it’s obvious that he should be the front-runner.
I have a problem with Huckabee — the cheap shots he made in the last election against Romney’s religion.
Romney will not get through the primary,Romneycare too much against him.I believe the one to watch is Palin, somehow she seems to be everywhere and she’s a fighter.
She has high negatives but so does Obama and Hillary and so did Reagan when he ran.My money is on Palin.
There is no doubt in my mind that Mitt will be our next President. I think we have all had enough with a President we knew nothing about, and still don’t. I think all of the dirty tricks posible have been brought out about Mitt has already serviced, and if taking his dog for a ride in the dog pen (that the dog loved and would get in it on his own ,as he knew he was going for a fun trip) was the worst thing they can find about Mitt. He really should be our next President.I only hope and pray that he will be. If we can just keep the Huckabee lies and a few other jealous comments out of the picture. Our beautiful America is hanging by a thread and we really need Mitt. Go Mitt!
@carol
Carol, you nailed it! Huckabee needs to take a big close look at himself in the mirror and ask himself if he had anything to do with Romney not winning the GOP candidacy. I believe that Huckabee and his lies and spin are a major problem with the GOP party in general. Huckabee and others need to step asideand put their religious bias aside so leaders like Mitt can step up and save the country from this tyranny.
We have had several months now to consider the possible adverse effects that the health care system in Mass could have on Mitt’s campaign. I believe the overriding view of that situation MUST be his ability to become Governor at a time when Mass was horribly in debt and he balanced the budget and responded to STATE”S RIGHTS to make a decision about how they would like to handle their healthcare needs. Remember that Mitt had a majority of Democrats in the state legislature during his administration and THEY and the the PEOPLE OF MASS felt the need to have more control of their costs of healthcare. Also, many features of the plan that added to its costs were vetoed by Mitt but reintroduced and passed by the incoming Democrat Governor. The idea of REQUIRING all to invest something in their healthcare may be regarded as having too much control over our freedoms but in these troubling economic times, we must face reality and admit that everyone MUST invest SOMETHING in their healthcare or the system will continue to fail us and cost too much. The participation of all will allow freedom to prevail far more than giving in to a government single payor plan. As a private professional in healthcare, I can tell you first hand that abuse diminishes when patients have to pay anything for their care. They also tend to take better care of themselves and make fewer visits when they know they have to pay something when they do. I believe Mitt should focus on driving these points home if he decides to run in 2012. He must defend his reasons for supporting and encouraging the plan and not apologize and back down from what he believed in when he supported it.
I’m a Jersey based Romney backer and I think our Gov Christie is doing a great job! The path to victory for the GOP in 2010 and 2012 is a return to fiscal discipline, and not just saying but doing it, ala Gov Christie. The social issues matter too but its about the economy and jobs, not cultural warfare this time around….
