Is Obama Thinking Mitt Romney in 2012?

the-promise-president-obama-year-oneThe quote of the day comes from a new book called The Promise: President Obama, Year One written by Newsweek columnist Jonathan Alter. The book is set to be released next week. Michiko Kakutani of the NYT reviewed the book and provides an interesting nugget in the final paragraph of his review:

Around Thanksgiving, when frustrations were piling up, Mr. Alter reports, the president said to an old friend, “Who would really want this job for more than one term?” Then added: “But I have to run now, otherwise it’ll mean letting someone like Mitt Romney step in and get credit for the good stuff that happens after we’ve been through all this crap.”

Interesting that Mitt Romney is the first name that pops into Obama’s mind when considering a possible GOP successor. How prophetic…

On a side note, if you want to see an excellent review of Obama’s first year in office look no further than our own post by VoxPatriota: The Year of Our Obama

~Nate Gunderson

Ross adds: President Obama is delusional if he’s worried about Mitt Romney getting credit for “the good stuff that happens” because of the policies of the current administration.  President Obama is making Mitt’s job much much harder, but the harder the job, the more chances Mitt will have to shine. Things will get better when Mitt is president, not because of the actions of President Obama, but because Mitt will free the American people to do create wealth and prosperity again.  2012 is when Mitt brings America back!

Obama got one thing right…. His first year in office was crap!

  2. Michael says:

Run Mitt, Run!!! I plan to give Mitt all the credit for kicking this fraud out of office.

  3. Graham says:

Funny–he has no trouble blaming Bush for the Pelosi-Reid-Dodds catastrophe, and I’m sure a 2013-2016 Mitt will get blamed for any residual bullcrap generated by the Obama Fail Machine.

On a side note, five points to anyone who knows the Reagan quote about “getting credit”…

  4. Lydia says:

“Good stuff that happens!!” Bwahaahaha! I didn’t realize he was a comedian.

  5. Lori says:

Obama’s True Colors. Its all about his ego. Heaven forbid a new president should deserve any credit. Obama plans to credit himself for anything that happens long after he is ousted. I find this incredible and outrageous. The guy has no shame.

  7. Singsai says:

First, Obama said”the Bush’s administration was the dark era in the America history”because the terrorist was in the run, they can’t hide, but Obama was linked to Mr. Ayer(terrorist)and he had a lot of radical friends even some pro communist, yes! may be it is too dark for Obama too.second,Obama said” don’t let the republican come to the table and block our goal,he want to control this great country by himself and lead this nation only one party by his socialism policy dictatorship, every bill control by Obama and don’t want any body to read any bill, what ever the bill say must passed for Obama agenda of change that no one know the true of goal, third,Obama laughing attacking America around the world, because the Kenya’s visitor kid is riding on the neck of the greatest nation in the earth, but American people still enjoying, dancing with Obama look nothing happened to them (they still sleeping) but every times Obama is talking,he is smiling, because he happy for America that give him the power to take over this great country.( where are the America value?) just these 3 big things can give the American people best lesson to educated themselves and we must wake-up and remember America, love America, believe America, and stand for America principle as our founding father had fouht and build for us in the past 200 years, stand with our real leader Mitt,to take back America for America.

    Interesting… and well said, Ross.

  9. Spikeballs says:

    This is unbelievable.

Carter also had problems recognizing his own failures. It took Reagan four years to somewhat heal the economy, and to announce that “it was morning again in America.” I bet that stagflation Carter was thinking to himself, “oh boy, that Reagen is taking credit for my hard work.” It required another 6 years to bring down the Soviet Union. Not sure if Carter took credit for it this time, or more-likely he was in fact disappointed… We are still suffering from the consequences of the Islamic revolution in Iran, and yet to this day Carter seems unaware that this same revolution occurred during his short term and was the direct result of his policies (he “reminded” the Shah of the importance of human rights, while Islamic revolutionaries were busily crushing the Shah’s pro-Western regime).

Fast forward 2012 (couldn’t come any faster): Iran has nuclear weapons. The dollar is no longer recognized as the most reliable coin in the world. Unemployment is still above 6%. Al Quaeda bases are now spreading in eastern Africa, Iraq and Afganistan faster than ever. America’s debt leads to extreme inflation. Everybody is losing their life’s savings. Ex-president Obama: “I can’t Mitt Romney is taking credit for all of this.”

    Amen!

Reminds me of when Obama said the Romney was “the current Republican nominee”:

  12. Jayde says:

    Good comments!

I agree with Singsai. Stand with our real leader – Mitt Romney – to take America back.

Also, sounds like Obama’s nerves have him up to a couple of packs a day…

  13. LOL! Right on Luke! Michael, I am sure many Americans will feel the same way toward Mitt for saving their country.

  14. Jayde Wyatt says:

So, Obama is going out of his head thinking about another term and Mitt Romney?

  15. Tim says:

The republican are lucky to have Mitt on their party, but some of them don’t see Mitt leadership, but the democrats and Obama saw Mitt leadership, they really want to have Mitt on their party but they are bad luck, even Obama himself still want to vote for Mitt, and he respect Mitt in his mind as his real leader. If republican nominee Mitt in 2008,now the president is Mitt,is not Obama, republican must respect our real leader, our experienced leader, our great leader Mitt and united with him at this time to take back America for America,no more loser,we must take the winner,Mitt can beat Obama by landslide in 2012.
