Mitt Romney: The Campaign to Repeal the Health-Care Bill Begins Today

The National Review Online published an op-ed by Mitt Romney this morning. Romney’s bold statement entitled “Obama’s ‘Unconscionable Abuse of Power’” concisely depicts a number of problems with the bill and the manner in which it was passed. It ends with this promise of action: “For these reasons and more, the act should be repealed. That campaign begins today.”

This, and other op-eds, videos and speeches, can be found on our menu bar at the top of this page.

UPDATE: Below is an image that we’ve supplied for people to use as their profile picture on Facebook if they wish. In the near future and leading up to the 2010 elections we’ll see what we can do to best help the repeal effort.

    I’m glad that he’s at least speaking out on this. No more hiding from the issue, Mitt. If you want to be President, you can’t wait until the campaign. If you do you will get slaughtered.

    @Brian

    Where have you been, Brian? In almost every interview we’ve posted here in the last few months, Gov. Romney has spoken out against Obama’s HC plan… not to mention almost a year ago in May with this Op-ed: http://mittromneycentral.com/op-eds/healthcare-the-answer-is-unleashingmarkets-not-government/

    Also last year with this Op-ed: http://mittromneycentral.com/op-eds/mr-president-whats-the-rush/

    I have listened to all of Romney’s many interviews in the recent weeks, what with his book release and all, IN EVERY SINGLE INTERVIEW he addresses Health Care reform. Inform yourself, please.

    Aaron,

    I’ve read those op-eds and occasionally seen him on TV, but c’mon….prior to his book release he wasn’t exactly front an center. Hopefully, this is a sign that he plans on taking a more active role in the debate. That is what the primary voters will expect. In addition, he can’t wait until the primary season to debate the differences between his plan and this one. It seems that he may be finally figuring that out.

    I have to agree with Aaron here, we haven’t even come close here to publishing the numerous times Romney has spoken out against this bill. I don’t know how you can expect him to be more outspoken about it when he has spoken up against it AT EVERY SINGLE PUBLIC APPEARANCE that he has made since many months ago, and they are not few in number. You may not have been paying attention, but we have.

    Romney has been very active and involved in politics all over the country in supporting candidates and PACs. All the while he had been writing his book (no ghost writer mind you) and recording the audio and planning the book tour – while has given him ample opportunity to speak out.

    The idea that he has been “hiding” is preposterous. Just because you haven’t seen him, doesn’t mean he hiding. If he were “hiding” he would not have brought the subject up 7 times during his prominent CPAC speech.

    @Brian
    Do you need him to publish his response directly to Facebook like your dear Sarah does? Does he need to become a FOX News affiliate to get his message across? Does he need to hire you as his top political advisor?

    What will suffice, Brian?

  6. Hypocrite? says:

    “Some of my libertarian friends balk at what looks like an individual mandate. But remember, someone has to pay for the health care that must, by law, be provided: Either the individual pays or the taxpayers pay. A free ride on government is not libertarian,” – Mitt Romney, April 11, 2006.
