Update 9: Video: The Today Show with Matt Lauer (6:30 PM)

Update 8: We’ve finally got video! The View (5:40 PM)

Update 7: Allahpundit weighs in (5:10 PM) HotAir.com’s summation: “This ain’t your daddy’s Mitt Romney. (Or, rather, your slightly older brother’s.) Still not convinced? Well, when he was asked today on “The View” who he thought might be a formidable candidate in 2012, he singled out Bob McDonnell, who won the governor’s seat in Virginia last year by running a sort of proto-Romney campaign — socially conservative, yes, but verrry quiet about it compared to his meat-and-potatoes rhetoric about jobs. That’ll be the upshot of Mitt ‘12 too, the “non-ideological conservative” versus whoever emerges as the ideological darling. It’s Palin’s slot if she wants it…” HotAir.com is a great site, but I somewhat tire of how the whole world revolves around Palin when what I mostly want is conservative news. Still I check it daily.

    From the mail bag:

    Clarence B.

    Subject: Mitt Romney-No Apology

    Message: You appearance on the morning talk show this morning made me sick, again. You and the rest of the damn republicans should apology to American for being such ineffective leaders. This morning all I come hear from your foul mouth is negatives about what is wrong with current lAmerica, a more diverse American, mind you. Just more sour-grapes from you republicans. You losers have had your time to leader America. You deregulated and free-marketed America to death, almost, until it had to be rescued, again, by the federal government. You talk negatively about entitlement pgms., but you don’t say a word about the fat-cats on wall street (your crowd) who cause the problems and caused the bailout, an entitlement pgm in American for failed republican policies. I would not vote for you for the local dog-catcher, let alone president. Poo on your kind. I won’t buy your silly book, either. Democrats forever, FDR, Harry S., LBJ, JFK, RFK, LBJ, Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton and others, all representatives of working-class America that I will never forget…real leaders for real Americans.

    Deregulation? Free markets? Really? I was sure to remind him that if they didn’t get enough Mitt on the Today Show to tune into The View, Hannity or David Letterman today.

    Even Worse:

    Nancy L.
    Subject: Go Home

    Message: Dear Mr Romney,
    Please just go away and go back to your Mormon church. Any one who believes that Joseph Smith found golden plates and translated them wearing green glasses, needs his head examined. Seriously. You are a sick person and bringing those sick beliefs to this country is very dangerous. I lived in Salt Lake City and I know how sick Mormons are and [the rest is edited for vulgar content]!!

    Dear Mitt Romney;
    Am so ashamed of the comments that I have been reading by Americans (?) , who only vote for one party. I happen to vote “the person, not the party” and do NOT condemn anyone for their Religious beliefs.We’ve had many Presidents of different persuasions….some good some not so good. Some had NO belief! There are many good men running for President, and they believe in a “higher Power”. One of these men is Mitt Romney. I happen to like his high standards and his fine background as Gov. of Mass. & his work w/ the Olympics! A good “family man” which is important to me.

    Wall Street did not cause the bailout. There was no need to bail them out. Let them fail! Others will rise to fill the need! There is nothing in the Constitution that says we can’t let businesses and stock markets and other free enterprises fail!
    When you fail, you learn! People who invest, invest knowing they could lose the money. They should not scream and holler about losing it if they do. They know up front it is not guaranteed. If they want a guarantee, they should put it into a safer vehicle!

    Our government needs to turn the healthcare back to the states. Turn the school funding and oversight back to the states. Turn the medicare program back to the states. ETC!!
